Examine the chart below, which shows the climate normals for San Francisco Downtown. Answer the questions below the chart in the space provided or on spearate sheet. (11 points each for a total of 22 points) a. A major theme in this class is that what the public perceives as an unusal event must be evaluated against what expectations one might have that that event is typical or atypical in a given climate. Using the information given in the chart above, describe why a 24 -hr rainfall total of 1.35" recorded at the Downtown San Francisco rain gage would be extremely unusual in July, but not so in December. (11 pts) b. Another major theme in this class will be the impact of increasing global temperatures on California weather patterns. Current projections are that through the early part of the 21st century, average annual precipitation in this part of California should increase slightly. The normal annual rainfall for the Downtown San Francisco rain gage is currently 23.73:, as discussed in class.using this link, determine the noarmal annual rainfall for the and periods. Are these figures consistent or inconsistent with the notion that precipitation should be slightly increasing in this part of California. (11 pts)
