D. L. COOKE AND ASSOCIATES LTD. MINERAL EXPLORATION CONSULTANTS SUMMARY The Nor 2, 3, 4 and 7 mineral claims consist of 55 claim units, which cover precious metal mineralization, favourable geology and alteration in the Toodoggone River area of northern British Columbia. The claims are located approximately 280 kilometers north of Smithers, B.C. Access is presently by fixed and rotarywinged aircraft. The property lies in the Toodoggone gold belt, which encompasses the gold-silver deposits of DuPont of Canada Exploration Ltd. (Baker Mine) and Serem Inc. (Lawyers) and numerous other precious metal prospects. The area is underlain by volcanic and sedimentary rocks of Permian, Trissic and Jurassic ages. Subvolcanic and plutonic intrusions of Jurassic age are intruded into the older rocks. The main mineralization in the district consists of vein-type precious metal deposits and occurrences. Other important types of mineralization are the porphyrytype copper and gold Occurrences, and the copper, silver, lead, zinc skarns associated with the Jurassic intrusions. The claims are underlain by Triassic Takla volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, intruded by stocks of granodiorite and quartz monzonite. Alteration is evident along northwest trending shear zones. One such shear is marked by a pyrite-pyrophylite zone which is 50' wide. Weak precious metal mineralization, of up to oz Au/T in float, was reported from quartz veins by previous operators, but these were not examined. The flat and swampy nature of the area, combined with heavy overburden, resulted in low geochemical response being obtained in all but the northeast area of the property. Further exploration will require more creative techniques to trace the mineralized float to its source and locate other centres of mineralization.

- 2-1 INTRODUCTION The Nor claims were staked to cover reconnaissance VLF-EM responses obtained over favourable geological structures on the east side of Thutake Lake in the.southern part of the Toodoggone gold belt. Work on the property in 1986 consisted of a reconnaissance geological and geochemical survey of the claims. This work was done in late July by the following personnel: D. L. Cooke... July 26, 1986 R. L. Wright and D. Manuel... July 29 and 30, 1986 Access to the property was provided on a dialy basis by Northern Mtn. Helicopters Ltd. from a base on the Sturdee River air strip. The Sturdee River air strip was reached and serviced by fixed wing aircraft from the community of Smithers, B.C. The 1986 expenditures on the property amounted to $4, This report is submitted for one year's assessment credits on the Nor 2, 3/ 4 and 7 mineral claims. PROPERTY AND OWNERSHIP The Nor property consists of four "modified grid" mineral claims comprising 55 claim units (Figure 2). The Nor 2, 3 and 4 are recorded in the name of David Cooke, and the Nor 7 in the name of Lorne Warren. 7 - 3 - LOCATION AND ACCESS The property is situated in the Toodoggone River area, some 280 kilometers north of Smithers, B.C. (Figure 1). The claims are situated east of the north end of Thutade Lake between elevations of 1,200 and 1,400 metres. The property lies some 20 kilometers to the southeast of the Baker Mine. Most of the claim block lies below treeline, and is marked by fir and pine. The terrain is flat to gently rolling and is characterised by glacial overburden and few rock outcrops. Good soil cover is developed over some areas, while others are marked by wet swampy muskeg. uu' Access is by fixed winged aircraft from Smithers to the Sturdee airstrip 290 kilometers north of Smithers, and then by helicopter 20 kilometers to the southeast. The nearest road is the B.C. Department of Mines' Omineca Road which ends at Moose Valley, approximately 25 kilometers to the southeast. The right-of-way for the road extension crosses the Nor claims. A decision to extend the Omineca road to the Lawyers property of Serem Ltd. will vastly improve the logistics and cost of access to the Nor property. HISTORY AND PREVIOUS WORK The earliest record of exploration and mining in the area relates to placer mining activities on McClair Creek and Toodoggone River in These records indicate that minor amounts of gold were taken out of the Toodoggone area. There was sporadic exploration for gold, copper, lead and zinc between 1934 and 1960, The area was actively explored by Sumitorno, Umex and Texas Gulf Sulphur between 1963 and 1967, and in 1968 by Kennco Exploration (Western) Ltd., Cominco Ltd., and Cordilleran Engineering Ltd. Numerous Cu-Mo prospects were acquired and explored as a result of the 1968 reconnaissance programs, : P. L. COOKE AND ASSOCIATES LTP. /

-4- il Kennco Exploration (Western) Ltd. recognized the precious metal potential of the area and staked the Lawyers and Chapelle claims and explored them until The Chapelle property was eventually optioned to Conwest Explorations Ltd. and then to DuPont of Canada Exploration Ltd. This lead to the discovery of the Baker deposit. The Baker mine was placed into production in 1981 with indicated reserves of 90,000 tons and grades of 0.87 oz/t Au and 19.0 oz/t Ag in the Main Zone. The Baker deposit was mined out in The Lawyers property is presently held under option to Serem Inc. Surface and underground drilling has defined a deposit containing 561,000 tons grading oz/t Aut and 7.11 oz/t Ag in the AGB zone. The drill-indicated reserves in three zones is estimated at 1.4 million tons of 0.2 oz/t Au and 7.4 oz/t Ag (Schroeterr1985). More than 30 companies are actively exploring or holding ground in the Toodoggone River area including Cominco Ltd., Kidd Creek Mines Ltd., Newmont Exploration, DuPont of Canada Exploration Ltd., Golden Rule Resources Ltd., Lacana Mining Corporation, St. Joe Canada Inc., Energex Minerals Ltd., International Shasta Resources and Multinational Resources Inc. Energex has recently reported drill-indicated reserves of 130,000 tons with a grade of oz?t Au in its BV zone, and 134,000 tons with a grade of oz/t Au in its Thesis I11 zone. The only previous exploration work known on the property was done in the area of the Nor 7 claim. This work consisted of a few reconnaissance soil sample lines and the assaying of vein quartz float. The previous metal values in quartz float ranged from to oz Au/ton (Hawkins, 1981). The present survey was intended to locate the source of precious metal mineralization by geochemical methods. This effort was hampered by the swampy nature of the terrain and by the preponderance of glacial cover. 0. L. COOKE AN0 ASSOCIATES LTP. 2

- 5 - P REGIC A GEO OGY D INERALIZATIC Geology The Toodoggone River epithermal precious metal district occurs near the eastern margin of the Intermontane tectonic belt. It extends for more than 100 kilometers from McConnell Creek to the Stikine River as a 20 kilometer wide zone of volcanic, sedimentary and intrusive rocks. The oldest rocks in the area are the Asitka limestones, argillites and cherts of Permian age. The Asitka Group is usually in fault contact with Takla volcanic rocks of Upper Triassic age. The Takla is characterized by abundant flows of augite, andesite, basalt, porphyritic feldspar andesite and their volcaniclastic sedimentary equivalents. Y i 1 i The volcanic rocks lying stratigraphically above the Takla Group have been classified under two headings: the Toodoggone and the Hazelton. The Toodoggone Group is of Lower Jurassic age and is equivalent to the base of the Hazelton Group (Panteleyev, 1984). The Toodoggone volcanics consist predominantly of subaerial dacite, latite, trachyte and rhyolite pyroclastic rocks more than 500 metres in thickness, which unconformably overlie the Takla. The majority of the known epithermal precious metal occurrences in the area are associated with the Toodoggone volcanic rocks. However, the Baker deposit occurs in Takla volcanic rocks, as do a number of important prospects. The Toodoggone volcanic rocks are bordered on the east by and are in fault contact with the Hazelton Group, consisting of intermediate volcanic conglomerate, breccia, lahar and abundant pink feldspar porphyry dikes and sills. These rocks range in age from Lower Jurrasic to Upper Jurassic and may include members of the Toodoggone Group. Acid to intermediate stocks and plugs of Jurassic age intruded into the sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the area. ww f 0. L. COOKE AND ASSOCIATES LTD.

- 6 - Mineralization The Toodoggone camp exhibits at least four types of precious metal mineralization, the most common of which is epithermal in origin. The epithermal deposits occur as massive quartz veins such as at the Baker Mine, or as silicified zones and amethystine breccia zones such as at the Lawyers deposit. They are generally close to major northwest faulta and are associated with siliceous volcanic centres, exhalative vents and zones of alteration within the Triassic and Jurassic volcanics. Quartz, barite and carbonate are the chief gangue minerals. The vein minerals are acanthite, pyrite, electrum, chalcopyrite, native gold, sphalerite and galena, Grades range from 0.1 to 1.0 oz/t Au and 1.0 to 20.0 oz/t Ag. PROPERTY GEOLOGY The claims lie at the southeastern end of the Toodoggone gold camp, which has not been mapped by any Government agency. The area is presumed to be underlain by Takla volcanic rocks at the southeast margin of the Black Lake intrusion. A small granodiorite to quartz monzonite stock outcrops along the bulldozer trail which crosses the Nor 2 and 4 claims (Figure 3). Sparse rubbly float material of andesite to dacite composition occurs in one location on the Nor 3 and 7 claims. The only other area of rock exposure occurs on the Nor 4 claim, and consists of several outcrops of a sheared and silicified rhyolite or altered andesite (?). Strong northwest foliation is developed within these exposures across,a minimum width of 15 metres. P. L. COOKE AND ASSOCIATES LTD. a

- 7 - MINERALIZATION AND ALTERATION The granodiorite mass which is located on the Nor 2 and 3 claims contains disseminated accessory magnetite. Traces of pyrite and chalcopyrite are also present. Diorite and dacite float material contains minor sulphide disseminations. A sheared and silicified zoner at least 15 metres wider strikes northwesterly across the southwest corner of the property (Figure 3). This zone may be an altered rhyolite and it is characterized by abundant silica, sericite, and pyrophyllite. Assays of this material returned very low gold values. Abundant vein quartz float was found on the Nor 7 but the source was not located. GEOCHEMISTRY During 1986 a program of reconnaissance stream siltr soil and panned stream concentrate sampling was completed on the Nor claims. Samples were taken at irregular intervals. Silt and soil samples were placed in numbered kraft paper bags and shipped to Min-En Laboratories in North Vancouver for analysis. Silt and soil samples were dried at approximately 90 C and then sieved to minus 80 mesh. The heavy minerals from panned concentrates are separated by heavy liquid. Separated concentrates and rock samples are crushed and pulverized. A 1.0 gram sample is then digested with HNO3 and HC104 mixture. Samples are diluted to standard volume after cooling, and the solutions analysed by computer operated Jarrell Ash 9000 Induction Coupled Plasma (ICP) Analyser. Gold was determined by atomic absorption sepctrophotometry. The analytical results are presented in Appendix 111. 'Significant values are plotted on Figure 3. It can be seen from this plot that one heavy mineral concentrater one soil and two silt samples show anomalous values for gold (+15 ppb) and/or arsenic (+20 ppm). r P. L. COOKE AND ASSOCIATES LTD.

- 8 - Y CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS This reconnaissance survey demonstrates the presence of favourable host rocks, shear zones and alteration zones which may contain precious metal mineralization. A scattering of anomalous geochemical samples supports this conclusion. However, the value of soil and stream geochemistry in locating any such sources of precious metal mineralization is hampered by widespread glacial cover. Further work is recommended. This should include detailed float prospecting, rock and soil geochemistry, and geophysical surveys. Magnetometer and VLF-EM techniques appear appropriate at this time. Respectfully submitted D. L.
