4 INTRODUCTION The Maybee A 95 Clai is a twenty (20) unit clai block located on central Vancouver Island in the Nipkish Valley Alberni Mining District NTS 92E 16W LAT ' LONG 49 57' Located between the northerly side of the south Kal-Anch River and the southerly side of Tolnay Creek. Accessed by road approxiately 34 k north westerly fro the Village of Gold River on the Gold River/Port Hardy road. Then westerly on the Tolnay Road and lower Centennial logging road. It is approxiately 2 k to the Initial Post. The network of logging roads are controlled by Canadian Forest Products Ltd. (CANFOR) who have been actively logging the area. W TOPOGRAPHY The Maybee A 95 clais lie between the south Kal-Anch River and Tolnay Creek. Elevations range fro 2000 ft. ASL to 4500 ft. ASL. The terrain is very rugged ranging fro 30 degree slopes in the lower levels to 60 to 70 degree slopes in the upper reaches. Despite these slopes those areas not logged are covered by a dense ature west coast rain forest. Under the forest canopy it is relatively free of underbrush, however, in ore open areas it is alost jungle like. There are five deeply incised stea beds on the clai exposing considerable areas of bedrock. A network of logging roads gives reasonable access to three sides of the clai. page..l

5 GENERAL GEOLOGY The clai area is bordered on the easterly side by the Muchalat Batholith of the Vancouver Island intrusives, containing grandiorite, quartz diorite and granite. This is in contact with and intrudes a coplex of eta sedientary and volcanic rocks to the west. The arbleized liestone and liestones are believed to belong to the Quatsino forations. These are overlain by the Karutsen volcanics. In the deeply incised strea beds there are siliceous well-bedded sulphide bearing sedients believed to belong to the Sicker Group. Faulting and shearing is coon especially at higher elevation on the westerly and central part of the clai. Evidence indicates a ajor thrust zone occupies the Allen Creek area. 0 Allen Creek is a tributary of Tolnay Creek located on the northwest section of the clai. This fault appears to extend to the southwesterly side of the clai where an unnaed creek occupies a strong north/south bearing fault. The easterly border of the clai is dissected by Centennial Creek flowing in a north/easterly direction. The steep canyon walls, although difficult to access, provide an abundance of exposed bedrock and a good snapshot of the geological profile of the area. The Karutsen volcanics are underlain by the well-bedded silitious sedients, varying in exposed thickness fro one to twenty eters. The bedding strata is fro one to ten c. in thickness. This structure is of a sulphide bearing aterial containing Copper, Lead, Zinc and Iron. page..2

6 WORK PERFORMED Working with y partner, Ji Searle, we spent a total of twelve (12) prospecting days on the Maybee A 95 clai. We spent three (3) days on the north central side of the clai between Capbell Creek and Allen Creek flagging an access trail and deterining the best approach to establish a grid to conduct a soil sapling progra in this area. We are still awaiting approval fro the Departent of Forests for our line cutting. We concentrated our efforts in the Allen Creek area spending nine (9) prospecting days. 0 The creek has exposed a coplex series of eta-sedientary and volcanic rocks. The volcanic rock is a fine grained, dark grey/green coloured basalt. It is flatly bedded dipping gently except where it is sheared and drag folded along the contacts to the sedientary rocks and altered zones. The sedientary rock is generally a white etaorphic liestone, in veins and lenses, ranging fro several feet to tens of feet in length. This is generally aligned in a northerly or north easterly direction. The discontinuity of the veins, rock types and secondary structures across the creek bed, indicates a vertical displaceent along this fault zone occupied by the creek. On the upper end of the creek there is a well developed northerly trending fault with well developed slickensided surfaces. Across the creek there is a wavy band of altered silitious volcanic aterial. Near the center of this zone there is extensive epidotization. Below this epidotized zone is a assive chalcopyrite vein striking in a southerly direction for about eleven (11) eters where it is obscured by the talus at the botto and dives below the epidote at the top on the canyon wall. The vein is well rounded and sooth at the botto but broken with sharp corners near the top - displaying soe characteristics of a horizontal bedding. A saple taken fro the top end of the vein showed assive chalcopyrite, bornite, azurite and a lac hite. The vein has an average width at the botto of about 1.5 eters and widens at the top to about 4 eters before it disappears into the canyon wall. page..3

7 Approxiately fifty (50) eters upstrea, there is another showing of chalcopyrite at a strongly epidotized contact, ranging in width fro ten (10) to thirty (30) c. On the north easterly side of the creek there are two gossans and a large band of sititious highly fractured aterial containing inor aount of chalcopyrite and pyrite. It is highly oxidized and crubles when struck with a haer. Downstrea soe one hundred (100) eters there is a large green alacite stain approxiately seven (7) eters long, occurring at the contact between the white liestone and the volcanics. This occurs high on the east wall and is inaccessible without clibing gear but pieces broken off contain assive c ha Ico pyri t e. Further downstrea there are several sall pods of sulphide ineralization ranging fro a few centieters to thirty (30) centies in liestone at contacts with the volcanic rock. a We collected twelve (12) rock chip saples, ten of the have been sent to Ace Analytical Lab for analysis, for which we have not yet received the results but will be forwarded to you if they do not arrive before this report is subitted. CONC LU SlON While soe of the sulphide ineralization is a skarn developent associated with the contacts between the sedientary and volcanic units, I feel that there is every possibility of a large sicker type deposit on the property between Allen Creek and Centennial Creek. page..4
