INTRODUCTION The following report presents the results of the exploration programme completed with an OPAP Grant (OPAP Grant # ). The work started on April 2nd, 1992 and was carried out intermittently until November 1st, The project was supervised by Claude Larouche, P. Engineer, of OVALBAY GEOLOGICAL SERVICES INC. who also carried out detailed mapping of the trenched area and south of # 2 shaft. The programme was most successful at locating new gold showings not previously known, at sampling old occurrences and compiling the available informations in order to present a comprehensive to potential clients for an option agreement. They was no significant change to the proposed project.

LOCATION AND ACCESS The claim block is located within the Shebandowan Greenstone Belt which stretches 175 kilometres west from Thunder Bay, in Northwestern Ontario (Figure 1). The study area is part of the Thunder Bay Mining Division and lies roughly 115 kilometres west of the town of Thunder Bay. The claims are located in the central part of Moss township (claim map G-676) on NTS sheet 52B/10SW at latitude 48 O 32'24" N and longitude '30" W. The property is readily accessed by gravel logging roads and the old mine road. The prospecting was conducted along the new roads and old grid lines. The results of prospecting, mapping and sampling are presented on Figures 4, 5 and 6 and Maps l and 2 in pocket.

TOPOGRAPHY AND VEGETATION The property is characterized by typical Archean topography with northeasterly trending ridges and intervening swamp covered valleys. Maximum relief is in the order of 50 to 100 feet. Outcrops represent not more than 5% exposures within the study area. Locally overburden depths may exceed 50 feet. The overburden is composed of clay and gravel with numerous areas covered by muskey. All lumber has been cut recently in the surveyed area.

CLAIMS The main claim block (Figure 2) consists of two (2) mining locations 33B and 1H and a total of 44 adjacent mining claims. Beside the two (2) mining locations which are under option from Belore Mines, twelve (12) other claims are also part of the Belore option. These claims are in good standing and their numbers are as follows: Claims under option from Belore Mines Mining Locations 1H 33B Unpatented claims Claims controlled by International Geo-Ventures Main Block

REGIONAL GEOLOGY The Shebandowan Greenstone Belt is predominantly underlain by metavolcanic rocks (Figure 3), which form part of the Wawa Subprovince of the Superior Structural Province of the Canadian Shield. The area under study is occupied by two (2) contrasting suites of older metavolcanic rocks composed of mafic to intermediate lavas, iron formation and intermediate ash flow rocks in the west and predominantly felsic metavolcanic rocks in the east. Metadiabase sills emplaced into the mafic metavolcanic terrain are considered the oldest intrusions exposed. Metadiabase and both mafic and felsic metavolcanic rocks are cut by dikes and stocks of feldspar and quartz-feldspar porphyry, hornblende lamprophyre, quartz syenite and larger bodies of hornblende gabbro to diorite. The deformation is very heterogeneous, partitioned mainly along narrow very schistose, northeasterly striking high strain zones which are closely spaced in the Ardeen Mine area. These zones are characterized by a strong lineation which mainly plunges gently southwest. Carbonate and sericite schists are characteristics of segments of some of the shears. The various shear zones in the Ardeen Mine area and the intersection of brittle fracture zones with one of the northeast trending carbonatized shear zone at Snodgrass Lake appear to exert the most significant influence on the localization of gold.

11 PREVIOUS WORK The original gold discovery was made by a trapper in The first surface work was done by Peter McKellar, a prospector from Fort William (now Thunder Bay). In 1882, the Huronian Mining Company of Ontario looked over the property, cut a road and brought in a stamp mill. Production amounted to 700 tons with a recovery of $11.00 per ton in gold and silver (0.31 opt Au). In 1925, the property was acquired by the Shield Development Company Ltd, who formed Moss Mines Ltd in Mining and milling machinery were brought in and the mine was developed to the 750 foot level. The Ardeen Gold Mines Ltd look over the property in 1933, and developed the mine to 1,000 feet. In 1936, the shaft was deepened to 1,275 feet. Between January 1st, 1936 and November 30th, 1936 the 200 ton cyanide mill treated 39,545 tons of ore with an average recovery of $5.95 (0.17 opt Au). In December 1936, Ardeen went bankrupt and operations ceased. Up to 1936, when production ceased, a 1,275 foot shaft had been sunk and development carried out to the 1,000 foot level. Production was from a narrow, composite quartz vein ranging in width from a few inches to 8 feet, occurring in a wide shear zone. The ore is in the form of telluride and as native gold associated with pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite. Reports state that the ratio of silver to gold was 7 to 1. It is reported that the presence of brittle chert in the drifts near the shaft # 2 on the 1,000 foot level might provide opening for gold mineralization if fractured much in the same manner as postulated for the base metals at the North Coldstream Mine. Assays given for the chert are in the order of $1.00 to $4.00, Au at $34.00 / Ag at $0.50. Assuming a ratio of 7 to l for silver to gold, it means the grade would vary from 0.03 to 0.11 opt Au.

From the assay plans on the 1,000 foot level, a rough calculation of one (1) section defined a zone as follows: length 110 feet average width 5.0 feet average grade 6.3 dwt/ton (0.32 opt Au) In 1937, Kerry Gold Mines Ltd was incorporated to operate the property but the mine was never reopened. Surface exploration was done, in 1957, by Noranda Mines and in by Belore Mines. Both programmes consisted of geophysical surveys and limited diamond drilling of conductive targets. For the most part these holes were barren of economic mineralization. It is not known when Belore Mines acquired the property, but in 1970, that company had lines cut and magnetometer and EM- 16 surveys carried out over a portion of the property northeast of the old workings. In 1972, additional geophysical work was done. 12 During the winter of , fives (5) holes were drilled, having an aggregate length of 1,354 feet. In 1972, an additional seven (7) holes were drilled making an overall total of 3,000 feet drilled by Belore Mines. One (1) hole drilled by Belore Mines intersected three (3) gold bearing zones which assayed 1.12, 0.56 and 0.56 oz Au per ton, all over separate five (5) foot sections. A parallel hole drilled fifty (50) feet to the west was essentially barren (0.08 opt Au over 5.0 feet) while a hole fifty (50) feet to the east cut 0.66 oz Au and 0.88 oz Ag per ton over two (2) feet along with a section grading 0.18 opt Au per ton over five (5) feet. The possibility exists that wide zones of most consistent grade could be found along strike of or parallel to the old workings. Hermiston Ltd of Cobalt took an option on the dump in It is not known if they evaluated the recoverable metal content of the dump. Lacana did sample the tailings and dump in Results were not located at this time.

13 RECENT WORK During the period of April 2nd, 1992 to November 1st, 1992, numerous days were spent prospecting south of the old Ardeen shaft # 2. Trenching was completed on the porphyry zone discovered last year on the south west claim block and also close to the east boundary of the Ardeen claim (HI, claim SW corner). Results are presented on Figure 4 and Map 2. The prospecting and mapping carried out this summer permitted to detail the geological formations south of the Ardeen (Map 1). A brief description of the different rock types is as follows: Basalt: fine grained, green in colour, locally pillowed, brecciated in places, cut by quartz veins hosted in sheared fractures. Andesite: generally massive, closely associated to the basalt, locally rare phenocryst of feldspar, also brecciated carbonated and schistose in places, locally chlorite dots are abundant (tuffs). Dark grey in colour. Fragmental: Pillow breccia were also included in this category. These rocks are fine grained pervasively foliated, volcaniclastic rocks of overall intermediate composition. They are characterized by a buff-white weathering, flat angular clasts of cherty looking material and of pumice?. The geological unit defines a marker horizon which can be followed over a considerable distance. Dacite: massive, light to dark grey in colour, locally amygdules are abundant. Rhyolite: close to the east boundary of the claim, a fine grained felsic rock contains quartz eyes and may represent a rhyolite or a quartz porphyry. Iron Formation: two (2) types of iron formation have been observed in the mapped area. Massive to banded magnetite - chert iron formation and fragmental iron formation containing clasts of iron formation and the adjacent mafic metavolcanic rocks. Locally in the south central part of the study area, the chert becomes highly graphitic with up to 15% pyrite.

-V I'jHc! 1 -p-s^ro4 ts\ J. *O

15 The banded iron formation consists of alternating layers of contrasting magnetite content ranging from pure siliceous chert through "lean" iron formation, to magnetite - rich iron formation. The iron formation is partly pyritic where it is highly schistose, within or next to one of the high strain zones which host sulphide - bearing quartz veins. In many outcrop bands of chert are difficult to distinguish from highly deformed and recrystallized vein of quartz. Pyrite occurs either as disseminated euhedral cubes or as concentrations along very small scale fractures. While prospecting, few new structures were discovered. At shaft # 3, within old trenches, a quartz vein is present within a shear zone oriented east-northeast at 30 O off the main Ardeen northeast shear. Locally, the vein is highly mineralized with chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena (see Map 1). This shear zone is at the north contact of a mass of porphyry. Last year, following a detailed prospecting programme, it was established that the gold mineralization in the Ardeen area was hosted within roughly east-west shear zones which are intersected by the Main Ardeen northeast shear. The intersection line between these east-west subvertical shear and the main northeast Ardeen shear may correspond to the high grade stopes in the old underground workings. Northeast of the # 2 shaft, new zones of shearing roughly oriented east-west were prospected. They include quartz flooding or quartz veins carrying significant gold values. The porphyry on the southwest claims has been trenched, washed and sampled in large part by Noranda Exploration Inc. of Thunder Bay. A copy of their sampling is attached (Appendix 1). The porphyry is fine to medium grained, carbonated, hematite and potassic alteration, silicified and pyritized. Two (2) main sets of fractures are developed 04O o to OSO 0 and to Locally a gossan is developed on surface. Gold values are erratic, but the trenched zone is highly anomalous in gold.

16 A second trench was dug close to the east limit of the claim, east of the Ardeen shaft. The digging was oriented at locating the western extension of the Akiko Lori iron formation which carried gold values of up to 40 opt Au last year. It is believed that the iron formation goes underneath the road and the exposed portion of the trench revealed massive andesite. While travelling along Swam road, shearing was observed at the contact of basalt - gabbro lenses within the Quetico sediments. Two (2) samples were collected. A sample from a sheared contact zone was assayed for gold, copper, zinc, nickel and silver, the second from a mineralized medium grained gabbro was assayed for gold, platinum, palladium, copper and nickel (Figure 5). The results were anomalous.

18 MINERALISATION A description of all samples collected and sent for assay is presented in Appendix 2. The samples are located on Maps l and 2 in pocket of significant interest are the following results: old trench northeast of shaft # 2, quartz vein with pyrite and galena within sheared and brecciated basalt - andesite. Assays: 0.07 opt Au - new quartz vein just southeast of the old trench described above. The vein is hosted within a sheared, silicified and carbonated zone. Assays: 0.18 opt Au - quartz vein within iron formation in southeast corner of claim HI. It is possible that the creek represent a zone of shearing and where this shear will cross favourable geology, gold values may be expected. Just east of the creek, a quartz vein returned values of up to 0.22 opt Au. Further to the west, close to the south limit of claim HI, another sample for the iron formation returned opt Au. It is interesting to note that in the immediate area, two (2) holes drilled by Matt-Berry returned gold values within the iron formation: Hole # opt Au over Hole # opt Au over 4.2' 0.26 opt Au over 8.2' Just east of the property, in 1972, Dome intersected 0.20 over 4.5 feet and 0.06 over 10.0 feet in one hole through the iron formation.

Tailings sampled by Ministry of Northern Development and Mines: 19 Sample # Au Ag Cu Pb Zn F F F Selected samples taken from the mine dump were also assayed with the following results: Sample # Au Ag Cu Pb Zn F-45-75B F-45-75A Samples were collected in the fall of 1992 by Mike Fogen (with the help of on auger) from the tailing at a depth of six (6) feet just north of shaft # 3. The results are as follows: Au Ag CU Pb Zn A few samples were taken from the Minoletti pits area (Figure 6). The Ardeen shear passes in a Valley just north of the trenches. Talc-chlorite schists were intersected by previous drilling. Detailed investigation shows that the quartz veins may be located along a series of east-west shear zones cut by the main Ardeen shear. The veins dip to the south and do not represent one main vein as previously believed.

21 CONCLUSIONS The presence of gold bearing quartz veins, some of which have high grade sections, in the old workings and in possible parallel zones make this property an attractive exploration bet. Recent prospecting confirmed that numerous parallel east-west shear zones are present close the old Ardeen and these shear zones are cut by the northeast trending Ardeen shear. Work to the east and to the southwest by Akiko Lori also confirmed this fact. The iron formations where deformed or sheared also host gold bearing quartz veins. It is recommended to drill close to the surface some of the new showings discovered.

INTRODUCTION The following report presents the results of a limited exploration programme carried out with OPAP Grants on two adjacents mining properties. The programme included line refreshing and rechaining, magnetometer ground survey, electromagnetic VLF-EM 16 survey and geological mapping. The exploration work has been carried out during the period of June 1st to October 30th, 1992 by Ovalbay Geological Services Inc. All available informations from the assessment work files at the Resident Geologist's office in Thunder Bay have been carefully studied in the area of the claims block. Exploration in the immediate area is presently active since most of the ground was closed to exploration for roughly 20 years.

LOCATION AND ACCESS The property is located approximately 80 miles west of the city of Thunder Bay, in the Shebandowan area of Northwestern Ontario. The claims lie approximately 2 miles south west of the Ardeen Gold Mine. Map references include NTS map sheet 52B/10 and claim map G-676, Moss Township. Access to the property is gained by travelling west from Thunder Bay along Highway to Shabaqua, and continuing westward along Highway 11 to a point 1.2 miles west of the village of Kashabowie. From there, Highway 802 S (Great Lakes Forest Products Road) leads southward. At mile 8.5, the Hermia Lake Forest Access Road leads westward to a serie of lumber roads which cross the group of claims. The area is also easily accessible through the Swamp Road which branches from Highway # 11 some 25 miles west of Highway # 802 S.

TOPOGRAPHY, VEGETATION The property is characterized by typical Archean topography with northeasterly trending ridges and intervening swamp covered valleys. Maximum relief is in the order of 50 to 100 feet. Outcrops represent not more than 5% exposures within the surveyed area. Locally overburden depths may exceed 50 feet. The overburden is composed of clay and gravel with numerous areas covered by muskeg. Poplar, jack pine, birch and black spruce are located in the dry areas and tamarack, black spruce and few cedar are present in the wet areas.

CLAIMS The claims (Figure 2) are located roughly 2 miles south west of the Ardeen Gold Mines shaft # 2 and were part of the original mining property. The property is comprised of four unpatented mining claims composed of two adjacent groups. The numbers are as follows: MIKE FOGEN TB Tb DANIEL CALVERT TB TB

PREVIOUS WORK Prior to 1968, the claims under study were part of the mining concession 27B which was part of the Ardeen Gold Mines property. Over the years, Ardeen Gold Mines Limited Company (incorporated in December 1933) was also named Huronian Mines Limited Company, Jackfish Lake Mining Company, Moss Mines Limited, Moss Gold Mines Limited and Kerry Gold Mines Limited. From 1968 to 1973, Kerry Mines Limited optioned the old mine and surrounding land to Belore Mines Limited which was incorporated in June At the time, all exploration work was concentrated to the north east of the claims under study. From 1973 to 1974, Dome Exploration Limited optioned some of the claims from Belore, including the claims under study. Geological and geophysical surveys were carried out on part of the claims. In 1975, Agricultural Rehabilitation Development Administration (ARDA) bought most of Belore's patented claims including 27B. At the end of the summer of 1990 the claims were reopen for staking.

10 REGIONAL GEOLOGY The surveyed area is part of the Western Shebandowan greenstone belt of the Wawa Subprovince. All rocks except diabase dikes are Archean in age. The Shebandowan belt forms the northern margin of the Wawa Subprovince in northwestern Ontario. The greenstone belt is bounded to the north by the metasedimentary rocks and associated granitic intrusions of the Quetico Subprovince and to the south by a granitoid batholitic complex. The contact to the north with the metasedimentary rocks is both conformable and fault-bounded. The Shebandowan belt is comprised mainly of mafic to felsic metavolcanics units, which have been intruded by numerous syn - to post - tectonic mafic to felsic intrusive rocks. The Shebandowan belt has been subdivided into four units namely: a northern mafic to intermediate metavolcanic unit. - a southern mafic to intermediate metavolcanic unit. - a central felsic to intermediate metavolcanic unit. - a central mafic to intermediate metavolcanic unit. A few narrows slivers of mafic metavolcanics are also present within the Quetico metasedimentary belt.

11 RECENT WORK During the period of June 01 st,1992 to October 30th, 1992 a limited exploration programme has been initiated on a block of four claims. Two claims forming the northern half of the surveyed area are recorded in the name of MIKE FOGEN and the two claims to the south are recorded in the name of DANIEL CALVERT. A former grid of cut and chained lines (Dome 1973) has been re-cut and re-chained as control station for the geophysical and geological surveys. The base line is oriented N45E and the lines are oriented at 315 O. Chaining was carried on with pickets or flag at every 100 feet along the lines. The exploration programme was conducted under the supervision of Ovalbay Geological Services Inc. of Thunder Bay, Ontario ( Claude Larouche P. Eng., 385 Riviera Drive, Box H-9, Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7B 6K2, prospector's licence # E-33336). The programme was oriented toward a systematic evaluation of the gold potential on the group of claims.

12 GEOLOGY OF THE PROPERTY The area under study is comprised of massive flows with associated pillow breccia and fragmental rocks. The different rock types encountered while mapping are described in the following pages and a map at the scale of l" = 200' (Map 3) is presented in pocket. Dacite The most important formation is represented by intermediate volcanics (Dacite). The rock is fine grained grey green in colour. Amygdules are present and locally looks like quartz eyes. Weathering on surface is pinkish in colour and locally rare phenocrysts of feldspar are present. Chlorite clots and large amphiboles are seen in places. The intermediate volcanics are commonly brecciated with pyrite along fractures. Rare quartz +/- carbonate stringers cross cut the dacite. ANDESITE - BASALT The andesite - basalt is also massive, fine grained, green in colour. Closely associated to the dacite, the mafic volcanics are more magnetic, highly fractured with pyrite, pyrrhotite and traces of chalcopyrite along fractures. Few quartz carbonate stringers cut the andesite - basalt. PILLOW BRECCIA Pillow breccia of intermediate to mafic composition has been observed in the south west portion of the surveyed area. It is locally silicified, carbonated, pyritized and epidotized. FRAGMENTALS The fragmentals mainly present in the northwestern portion of the claim block, consist of block to lapilli size subangular to oval shaped of chert? clasts within a chloritic matrix. Locally blocks are rare and it forms chlorite schist. Pyrite is disseminated in places.

13 GABBRO Fine to medium grained gabbro are present on the property. They are massive grey green in colour and are oriented subparallel to the intermediate to mafic volcanics. Locally, they may represent the coarser portion of a lava flow. CHERTY IRON FORMATION One outcrop in the central portion of the south west quadrant shows a small bed of cherty iron formation. It is folded, brecciated with minor pyrite along fractures. PORPHYRY Two separate occurrences of quartz feldspar porphyry have been mapped on the property. The dykes are cutting across the stratigraphy. They are slightly altered and contain minor amount of disseminated pyrite. Few quartz (with minor carbonate) stringers cut across the different formations, they are barren and white in colour. Schistosities are better observed within the fragmentals due to the high content of chlorite, nevertheless the intermediate to mafic metavolcanics are highly fractured. Three samples have been collected for assays. The description of the samples is given in Appendix l along with the results and a copy of the certificates of assays. Even is no mineralization of economic interest has been discovered during the recent work programme; from a recent geological compilation of Moss township by geologists from the Ontario Geological Survey, the following observations were made on the potential for economic mineralizations in Moss township. "Gold occurs in the following associations: 1) quartz and quartz-carbonate veins mineralized with pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite and telluride along northeast-trending shear zones ( eg. Huronian Mine, Minoletti and Beaver zones); 2) along mineralized shear zones and associated fractures in diorite and feldspar porphyry bodies within the CFU (central felsic to intermediate metavolcanic unit) eg. Snodgrass and Span lakes areas. Small syenite bodies are often associated with these bodies at the sites of gold mineralizations.

14 Anomalous gold also occurs in several other discrete shear zones both within and along the contact between the Quetico metasedimentary and Shebandowan metavolcanic rocks. Exploration for possible base metal and gold mineralization should be focused along the contact of the gabbroic sill-complex within the Quetico metasedimentary rocks in northwestern Moss township".

15 GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS A grid of northwest-southeast lines spaced 400 feet apart was re-cut and rechained over the claim block as reference stations for the geophysical surveys. A total of 3.75 miles of lines including the base line were completed. The ground geophysical surveys including magnetometer and electromagnetic VLF-Em 16 surveys were carried out over 3.22 miles of lines. The magnetometer survey was conducted with a Scintrex MP2 Proton Mag instrument measuring the value of the total magnetic field with a precision of 1.0 gamma. The readings were taken systematically every 100 feet with details at 50 or 25 feet in anomalous areas. The bases stations were located along the base line at the cross line intercepts. The magnetic readings have been corrected for diurnal variations where necessary. The magnetic results are presented on a map (Map l in pocket) at the metric scale of l = Note that 58,000 gammas should be added to the plotted value in order to obtain the measured value. Its appears that the higher magnetic intensity may correspond to the disseminated pyrrhotite present in the rock and to the gabbro. The cherty iron formation was not picked up by the survey due to its narrow width. The electromagnetic survey was carried out with a Geonics Em 16 Instrument using the Cutler, Maine station (frequency 24.0 khz). The vertical components (in phase and quadrature) of the secondary field are measured with a precision of H- or - 2t. The readings were also taken systematically every 100 feet along the grid lines with details at 50 or 25 feet. The results of the electromagnetic survey are plotted on a map (Map 2) at the metric scale of l = 3000 (in pocket). Profiles at the scale of l cm = 20% have been drawn for the in phase and quadrature readings. The possible conductors have been interpreted and marked by a bolder line. They may represent bedrock conductors but they are associated to very strong valleys (possibly shears zones). These valleys are oriented east north east.

16 RECOMMENDATIONS The exploration programme completed to date with the help of the OPAP grants served to upgrade the mining property which was dormant for the last 20 years. The geophysical surveys should be detailed with line at 100 foot intervals in order to better define the geological formations. Trenching and or prospecting is recommended close to the strong valleys to investigate the existence of shear zones which are the host of gold mineralizations in the immediate area. Claude Larouche, President OVALBAY GEOLOGICAL SERVICES INC.
