9 2 : AHP 257 Eva lua tion of Susta inab ility of F isher ies Resources for South Ch ina Sea Ba sed on the AHP CHEN Zuo2zhi, L IN Zhao2jin, Q IU Yong2song ( South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Guangzhou , China) Abstract: M arine fishery resource is one of the important components in national econom y, which is the important material foundation of social development, emp loym ent and econom ical welfare for hum an society. According to the p ractical conditions and data sources, the evaluation index sys2 tem for the realization of the fisheries resources sustainable utilization in South China Sea is put forward based on the analytic hierarchy p rocess (AHP). The index system consists of 23 indica2 tors from three rule levels of resources & environment subsystem, social subsystem and econom ic subsystem. A comp rehensive m ethod of specialist grading and AHP was emp loyed to confirm the weight of each index. The hierarchy grey synthesis model, furthermore, was adop ted to analyze the situation of sustainable utilization of fisheries resources during the period The results suggest that the level of utilization of fisheries resources in Guangdong Province decreased gradually during the last 30 years, the value in 1984 was the lowest, being 51. 7% of that in The level of sustainable utilization of fisheries resources showed a slight fluctuating increase since 1999, and the value in 2007 was 72. 4% of that in The results of comp rehensive e2 valuation conform ed to the actual situation, indicating that the model to evaluate the regional fish2 eries resources sustainable utilization is feasible. The article also suggests that living resources conservation, such as artificial reef construction and stocks enhancem ent, and fisheries econom ic grow th code transformation are the fundam ental measures for marine fisheries resources sustainable utilization in South China Sea.
