However, under the conditions of China s DANW E I system, the working or2 ganization was not the working p lace in common sense. DANW E I system is a unique phenom enon in urban China and the key point to understanding relative p roblem s of cities. Since 1990 s, more and more researchers from differ2 ent discip lines have paid their attention to such system and its change. However, we find fewer studies from dom es2 tic geography scholars. This paper thus review s the related research literature and p roposes a fram ework of DAN2 W E I2based research on urban spatial structure, which introduces a macro perspective of institution to spatial issues. Based on the very framework, it then elaborates details on the reform of the DANW E I system, from emp loyment, housing, to other well2being system. W hat s more, different influences of these changes on residents daily life and urban space are further exp lained. In the end, the author argues that although DANW E I has gradually lost its dom inant role since the launch of the reform, it will still take a long time to withdraw totally; and taking in its cov2 ert effects in the p resent, we should still attach importance to DANW E I system and its changes in urban studies.
