3 SUMMARY VLF-EM and scintillometer surveys were completed in 1978 over a portion of the Green Claim group located near the headwaters of Gable Creek, 44 km N loo W of Grand Forks, B.C. Except for work performed on the claim group in 1977, there is no record of previous exploration on the property. In the general area work is being conducted on a nickel prospect within six km to the NE and on a uranium prospect 24 km to the NW. On the Amber Resources property to the NW, anomalous uranium values in soil samples are reported. L The property covers granites and porphyritic related phases in contact with syenites, monzonites and shonkinites of the Coryell intrusions. The VLF-EM survey delineated the continuation of a prime anomaly located in 1977 (A). The zone was extended for 1200 meters in addition to the original meter zone. The scintillometer survey disclosed a correllative anomalous zone. I ' A sub-anomalous scintillometer anomaly in the southwest area correllates with the central (B) of three VLF-EM northeast- erly trending anomalies. The G.S.C. open file map 409 discloses above normal concentrations of uranium in stream sediments within an easterly flowing creek bisecting the Green claims.

4 ii. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS The VLF-EM and scintillometer surveys established prime correl- lative anomalous areas which would require concentrated exploration. The surveys indicated zones of anomalous concentrations of possibly uranium minerals within structural zones. The conclusions of the writer's report of November 30, 1977 still apply and are herein stated. From the geological knowledge of the property to date, the indicated uranium mineralization is assumed to be associated with pegmatitic intrusions within or adjacent to a major northeasterly fault. Uranium mineralization associated with pegmatites is not unusual and in some cases in eastern Canada uranium production is from pegmatitic ores. Boundary Explorations, on properties to the south and east are having limited success in establishing adequate grade and/or tonnages of uranium mineralization within localized pegmatitic intrusions. I Other possibilities of uranium occurrences on the Green Claims are in locating Tertiary stream channels. These ancient channels in some cases are known to contain uranium minerals as on the Fuki, Donan property to the northwest or on the Kallis Creek and Hydraulic Lake Areas. i I --

5 iii. Additional exploration on the property is recommended and directed to the main anomalous zone A in addition to the southwest anomalies B and C. Initial continuing exploration on anomaly A should be comprised on trenching and sampling and an I.P. survey across known anomalous zones to determine specific targets for more concentrated exploration. The cost of the program is estimated at $15,000 with a breakdown as follows: Trenching and sampling allow $ 5, I.P. survey 15 $400/km 6, Engineering, supervision, reports 4, Total cost $15, It is estimated the program would take two months to complete. 6 Geophysical Report on a VLF-EM and Scintillometer Survey on the GREEN CLAIMS - GREENWOOD M.D. INTRODUCTION A VLF-EM and scinti'llometer survey was carried out on the Green Claims during October This report discusses the procedure, compilation and interpretation of the very low frequency electromagnetic survey and a scintillometer survey which determined the total radioactive count in counts per second. The field work was performed under the direct supervision of the writer. Fifteen kilometers were completed over the area as indicated on the accompanying maps. /- The objective was to continue the geophysical survey over areas not previously covered and to determine structure or geological contact zones which may be a control for mineralization. More specifically, the purpose of the survey was to locate potential uranium mineralization in association with structural control.

7 2. PROPERTY AND OWNERSHIP The property consists of four claims comprised of 65 units. C. Doitard of 2245 West 13th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. LOCATION AND ACCESS 0 The Green Claims are located 44 kilometers at N 10 W from Grand Forks, R.C. and within the Greenwood Mining Divi-sion. The southwest corner of the property is situated one and one half kilometers east of the highest point of land in the general area - Terraced Peal;. Access is from Grand Forks for approximatcly,2 kiloncters via a good gravel and paved roar1 followinq the north fork of Granby River, thence 1.2 kilometers to the west on the Gable Creek road. The property is accessible by two wheel drive vchiclc during snow-free periods.

8 3. TOPOGRAPHY AND ELEVATION The property is situated in the Midway Range of the Monashee Mountains where elevations of mountains are up to 2,500 meters in a generally moderately sloped terrain. Elevations on the property range up to 2,100 meters with a local relief of 800 meters. WATER -- AND SUPPLIES Sufficient water for all phases of an expl.oration program would be available from creeks on the property. Most supplies would be available at Grand Forks.

9 4. HISTORY OF PREVIOUS WORK Except for geological and geoph sical surveys cairied out on a portion of the Green claims in 1977, there is no record or sign of previous mineral exploration on the Green claims except for mineral analysis of water and silt samples from a stream flowing through the property. The results of the reconnaissance program carried out by the G.S.C. are indi- cated in open file #409 and indicate above normal concent- rations of total uranium. Additional recent mineral exploration in the general area is as follows: a) Amber Resources is exploring ground covered by the Gable 1 mineral claim within six kilometers northeast of the Green claims. Reportedly, the exploration is on three areas of nickel mineralization associated with basic to ultrabasic phases of the Coryell Intrusions. b) On the Fuki, Donan property, 24 kilometers northwest of the Green claims, uranium mineralization comprised of secondary uranium minerals occurs within loosely consolidated conglomerate and carbonaceous sediments in paleostream channels. c) Boundary Explorations has been exploring pegmatites bearing uranium mineralization to the southeast of the Green property and to the east of Granby River. The Company has reportedly recently optioned their uranium properties.

10 5. c GEOLOGY According to geological map Kettle River British Columbia, the property is in an area of Lower Cretaceous Valhalla Intrusions comprised of granite and porphyritic granite in contact with Paleocene (?) Coryell Intrusions comprised of syenite, monzonite, shonkinite and granite. The Coryell intrusions are indicated to outcrop on the wes- tern portion ofthe property. /- t In a geological survey carried out by the writer over the eastern portion ofthc property, outcrops of granites to quartz monzonites were found to predominate in addition to various textural phases as well as porphyritic phases. Within the anomalous area, spccific phases are porphyritic qkz. monzonite with locally feldspar crystals up to two centimeters in addition to cuhedral phenocrysts of biotite crystals of less than two centimeters in size. Two predominant lqrcje scale struckural directions are indicated topographically - northeasterly and northwesterly. These directions are also indicated on a snallc:: scale in fractures in outcrops. Superimposed is a northerly fracture zone as i.nd.icated by fault scarps along line 3W.

11 6. INSTRUMENTATION AND THEORY.L_ 1) VLF-EM A Model G-28 VLF-EM receiver was used for the VLF-EP4 sur- vey. This instrument is designed to measure the electro- magnetic component of a very low frequency field (VLF) transmitted from Cutler, Maine. F The theory in electromagnetic prospecting is that if a secondary magnetic field such as a sulphide body is with- in the area of the survey in which a primary magnetic field is produced, the subsequent degree of relative distortion or degree of secondary induction is measured. However,becaiisc the VLF-EM uses a relatively high frequency, the instrument is also susceptible to locating bodies of lower conductivity in addition to sulphiclc zanes. Clay beds, electrolyte-filling fault or shear zones, porous hor- izons, graphite, carbonaceous sediments, lithological contacts as well as sulp1ii.de bodies of relative1.y low conduc- tivity could be located. Thus, in the interpretation of a VIAF-EM survey, a good geological Icnowlcclgc of the prop- erty is desired. 2 ) Sc inti 1. lome t cr,/" A Fischer Model T.1 scintillometer was used in the survey. The scintillometer responds to any primary, secondary or generally radioactive minerals. Thus the scintillometer is utilized to measure the total radioactive count over the range of radioactivity which relates to common rock types. Once an anomalous area is delinentcd, steps would be taken to identify the radio-element.

12 7. e SURVEY PRODECURE As indicated on the accompanying maps, an east-west base line was established which was the common boundary of the Green 2 and Green 4 claims and the Green 1 and Green 3 claims. Stations for perpendicular cross lines were established at every 100 meters. Readings were taken at 50 meter intervals along the cross lines which were generally spaced at 200 meter intervals. Stations along the base line and cross lines were flagged and marked with the appropriate co-ordinates. COMPILATION OF DATA 1) VLF-EM - The accompanying VLF-EM map shows the VLF-EM results as taken in the field. The axis of the conductive zone was determined by applying the Frascr filter. The filtered data transforms zero crossings or the cross-over, which is essentially the anomalous zone, into peak readings. The maximum field strength alonq each line was noted by a bar and in most cases corrcllatcd with the conductive zone. 2) -~ Scintillornctcr - The scintillorncter rcadinqs were plotted according to field data. Thc hackr~round in the western portion of the survey area was taken as 75 C.P.S. with the anomalous or subanomalous area over the 100 C.P.S. contour as indicated.

13 0. INTERPRETATION VLF-EM The 1977 survey delineated one northeasterly zone (A) within the northwestern portion of the property - and more specifically on the Green claim. The 1977 survey indicated an anomalous zone open to the northeast beyond 6E and open to the southeast of 9W for a continuous extension of/700 meters. The 1978 survey was carried along the southeast extension of the zone to 21W. The continuation of the zone was delineated to the limits of the survey for an extension of 1200 meters. The anomalous zone is interpreted as a major structural northeasterly trending zone which parallels the inferred structural break occupied by Gable Creek 800 meters to the south. r The anomalous zone 4s generally along a south facing slope of a northeasterly trending ridge and in an area of similar rock types thus the zone would not be an indication of terrain variations or contact zones. Although sulphide mineralization is not evident on the surface, the outlined zone could be indicative of sub-surface mineralization in association and controlled by the inferred structure. North-south smaller scale structures which are evident as fault scarps in this area are also inferred by the VLF-EM survey contours which bend sharply from an east-west trend to a north-south trend.

14 9. In the southeast portion of the property and within the Green 4 claim, the fraser filtered data indicated two (B) north- easterly trending conductor axes converging to the northeast. A discontinuous conductor (C), south of conductor (B) also trends northeasterly and could be a displaced fault zone from the southern conductor of (B). The conductors A and B are indicated to represent fault zones as generally related intrusives andsulphi demineralization were not detected within outcrops of the survey area. r Northeasterly and northerly fault zones are represented by anomalies A, B and C directional zones paralleling zones in the Northwest - A zone. E.W. fault zones are also indicated which could represent an area of increased structural deformation. This would also be substantiated by the three zones of conductivity. Maximum field strength zones are mainly correllative with the southern portion of the B anomalous zone.

15 c Scintillometer Survev 10. The 1978 survey extended the original anomaly A from line 9W tosubanomalous values at 17W. A local anomalous zone north of anomaly A extends from 15W to 17W. The main anomalous zone correllates directly with the VLF-EM anomaly and could reflect uranium mineralization associated with the inferred fault structure. The southeastern area surveyed indicated a sub-anomalous northeasterly trending discontinuous zone, correllating with the southern conductive zone of VLF-EM anomaly 3. It is interesting to note that the southeastern portion of the scintillometer anomaly splits correllating with the juncture of an easterly trending zone and an indicated projection of a southwest trending fault zone.
