The claim is accessible by boat 20 kilometres northnortheast of Heriot Bay WORK FINANCED BY Iron River Resources Ltd Galerno Road, Campbell River B.C. COMMODITIES ' GEOLOGY Pb, Zn, Ag (Au) The PEWTER claim is underlain by granodiorite on the northeast and quartz diorite on the southwest. Partly assimilated ipclusions and screens of metasediments and metavolcanics are i3eluded in the plutonic rock. In addition the plutons are cut by andesitic(?) dykes A strong shear-vein system approximately 2 m wide cuts the plutonic rock and strikes approximately 050' with vertical to. very steep dips. The vein shear system is mineralized by pyrite. galena and sphalerite in a siliceous gangue. Late movement on the structure has resulted in a narrow zone of shearing and gouge in the northwest wall PREVIOUS WORK Prior to 1929 a shaft was sunk to a depth of approximately 5 metres and was -then excavated laterally so that the bottom intersected the ground surface. Length of the resulting trench is 11 metres. Small surface trenches have traced the structure for approximately 50 metres to the southwest. About 1969 a small working extended the bottom of the trench for approximately 2 metres following the less mineralized more highly sheared part of the structure. W PRESENT WORK A total of 9 samples were taken for assay. These represent chip samples across measured widths and selected samples of well mineralized material

4 GEOLOGY AND SAMPLING PROGRAM PEWTER CLAIM, FRANCES BAY ANCOWER M.D.' NTS 92K/6E INTRODUCTION K. E, Northcote and Associates Ltd. was contracted to examine and sample the PEWTER claimwhich is located 40 kilometres north-northeast of Campbell River at approximately latitude 5Oo19.5'N and longitude 125'2.5'W, NTS 92K/6E in the Vancouver Mining Division. See Figure 1. The property lies on the east side of Toba Mountain on the southwest side of Frances Bay off Raca Passage on the peninsula of the mainland between Toba and Bute Inlets. The claim is centred at 225 metres (750 feet) elevation on a hd moderately steep but benclied slope covered by second growth hemlock, alder D and maple with generally light underbrush. The property is accessible by boat, approximately 30 kilometres from Heriot Bay. CLAIM The PEWTER property consists of one two-post claim. See Figure 2. 7 w GEOLOGY OF THE BUTE INLET - TOBA INLET AREA J.A. Roddick (GSC Open File Map 480) shows the Bute Inlet-Toba Inlet area is underlain mainly by granitic. rocks which are chiefly granodiorite and quartz diorite composition but contain lesser bodies of quartz monzonite and gabbro. Age determinations for these plutons range from 113 to 82 m.y. Lower to Upper Cretaceous age. Plutons on nearby Vancouver and Hardwicke Islands gave ages of 142 to 173 (?> m.y. - These granitic rocks contain 4 major conspicuous but narrow disrupted linear belts of pendants which traverse the map-area from southeast to northwest. These pendants are composed of volcanic and sedimentary rock of widely varied composition metamorphosed to varied degrees, and ranging in age from possible Paleozoic to Lower Cretaceous. GEOLOGY OF FRANCES BAY RAMSAY ARM - DEER PASSAGE AREA The Frances Bay-Ramsay Arm-Deer Passage area is underlain by granodiorite and quartz diorite with small bodies of quartz monzonite and gabbro all apparently of Cretaceous age. The subject area is bounded on the northeast by two pendant screens of Lower Cretaceous Gambier Group metavolcanics and metasediments. On the southwest side of the Calm Channel fault the islands heading Georgia Strait are underlain by plutonic rocks mainly of diorite/ quartz diorite composition with lesser granodiorite and quartz monzonite. disrupted narrow belt of metasediments and metavolcanic rocks of Paleozoic/ Triassic, Upper Triassic, Lower Jurassic age lie to the southwest of the Calm Channel fault and merge with its northern extension near Stuart Island. area is bounded on the south by the recognizable Karmutsen, Quatsino, Parsons Bay,Bonanza sequence and plutons underlying Quadra and Vancouver Islands. These deposits fall into 3 main classes namely (1) skarns (2) mineralized fracture-shear systems (3) intrusive breccia-related mineralization. Of these the skarns and intrusive breccia are in a quite different geological environment than the PEWTER claim but could be related through a similar source of mineralizing solutions. In addition copper staining noted on Roddick's O.F. 480, on the northeast side of Frances Bay was investigated. Minor chalcopyrite occurs in wide spaced fractures in granodiorite and result in conspicuous malachite staining on the cliff face. Workings at the head of Frances Bay, possibly associated with gabbro reported there, were not investigated. GEOLOGY OF THE PEWTER CLAIM 'rruol The PEWTER claim is underlain by granodiorite on the northeast and quartz 3

9 diorite on the southwest. Partly assimilated inclusions and screens of former volcanic or sedimentary rocks occur within the granodiorite-quartz diorite plutonic rocks. In addition the plutons are cut by dark dykes. These fractures are best exposed along the shoreline. These rocks are cut by a strong shearvein system approximately 2 metres wide striking approximately 050' and dipping vertically to very steep southeast and northwest. This vein shear system was traced for several tens of metres by trenching on the property,and strong linears observed cutting through Toba Mountain to the southwest of the claim may be part of this system. On the claim the vein-shear system is mineralized by pyrite, galena, sphalerite in a siliceous (Quartz) gangue. Late movement along the structure has resulted in a shatter-gouge zone along the northwest wall. Previous Work. w The PEWTER claim area was formerly covered by a larger blocks of claims and, prior to a fire about theyear 1929,was explored by a shaft sunk on the vein-shear system then excavated laterally to form a deep trench, the bottom of which emerged on the hillslope. See Figure 3. The trench is 5.2 metres deep, 11 metres long and approximately 2 metres wide. It is not known whether any mineralized material was shipped at this time. About 1969 and a short adit was driven from the end of the trench and measures about 2.4 metres long by 1.4 metres wide, and 1.5 metres high. See Figure 3. This small working was driven on the most intensily sheared part of the veinshear system and appears to be in the less mineralized part of the structure. Up the hillside there is a series of small hand dug trenches tracing the vein-shear structure for an estimated 50 metres along strike. No record was found of this previous work. The property does not appear in w 4

10 W MEMPR Minfile or in geologic literature pertaining to the area. Present Work Interest in this property was to investigate the gold-bearing potential of the vein-shear system. Nine samples were collected for assay. These locations are shown on Figure 3 and the samples are described in Table 1. Assay data sheets are included in Appendix I for 9 samples; 5 of which are chip samples taken across measured widths and 3 are grab samples of strongly mineralized material taken from the dump to test for gold content. One sample of richly jarositic (?) soil from the dump from the initial shaft was also collected for geochemical analyses. RESULTS " Although galena and sphalerite are readily visible in many of the samples they were not assayed for lead and zinc. The samples- of obviously.mineralized * and not obviously mineralized material gave Ag values ranging from 1.9 ppm to 0.48 oz/ton. Gold values from these samples are negligible ranging from -5ppb to oz/ton. Jarositic (?) soil from the initial shaft dump gave values of 26.2 ppm Ag (0.76 oz, Ag/ton) and 120 ppb gold which is a higher& value than was obtained from the best mineralized grab sample. 13 Wmd CONCLUSIONS Although significant silver values were present in the samples taken from the vein-shear system the gold values are very low. It is possible that significant gold values may occur elsewhere in this strong structure but gold values obtained here do not justify a program to explore this possibility. The present price of silver and the tenor of silver indicated by sampling would not support an underground mining operation on this property. If,in the future,there is a significant increase in the price of silver exploration would be recommended to trace and test extensions of the vein-shear system in search of tonnage and better grades. 7
