3 -2- BISKUT CLAIMS INTRODUCTION LOCATION In 1984 Lac Minerals Ltd. took two stream sediments and one rock sample near the S.W. corner of the present Biskut Claim (84P on Fig. #3). Results were not considered high enough to require follow-up, although they drained an area of gossanous outcrop. The staking was prompted by the imminent release of the provincial government's stream sediment sampling survey for N.T.S. 104G mapsheet and.the rising level of exploration in the area. The claim was staked in early July (Fig.#l and 12, Table 811, recorded on July 25, 1988, and prospected by R. Turna on August 11, The 1988 sampling by R. Turna (Turna, 1988) turned up highly altered pyritic "felsite" in an area dominated by unaltered Upper Triassic andesitic volcanics. Results of the 1988 work were encouraging enough to follow up in The 1989 program took 1 field day (August 18, 1989) on which a 1,000 metre picket base line was established over the gossanous area. (Fig. #3.,4,5). The immediate area was mapped and 19 rock outcrops wexe sampled. Project costs are summarized on Table 85 and were $2, The claim is located on N.T.S. 104G/2E about 8 km. S.S.E. of Hankin Peak, on a south draining subsiduary creek to More Creek. Highway 837 from Kitwanga to Cassiar runs north-south about 18 )an. to the east. Access is strictly by helicopter. GEOLOGY (Figure 5) Outcrop is mostly dark green Upper Triassic pyroclastics with minor coarse interbeds of tuff. In the area outside of the gossan which is confined. to the north side of a N 60 E trending creek, the andesite can be found completely unaltered (except for regional green schis.t metamorphism).

4 -3- Advancing towards the gcissanous area the andesite becomes more fractured with limonitic: and pyritic fractures and shears cutting the andesite. These fractures (joints) are 060 and 160 trending and both st.eeply dipping. Within the gossan (felsite of Souther (1971)) the andesite is completely altered with all original texture obliterated. The gossan is pyritic, silicified, limonitic and probably now mostly clay, sericite and quartz. One veinlet (< lcm wide) with galena was found. Within the gossan are sewera1 weakly altered outcrops of coarce phenocrystic trachyte. Rein Turna (1988) indicates Upper Triassic limestone on the north edge of the claims block. A multielemental ana1ytj.c suite (Table 114) was run for each of the 19 rock samples. Anailysis was done by Bondar Clegg and Company of North Vancouver, B.C. and analytical techniques used by them are described on Table R4. Analytical values are found in Table #3 while sample descriptions are on Table b2. Samples are described either as float samples, grab samples or chip samples (a nearly continuous sample in a qiven direction over a measured length). Geological descriptions are also given on Table #2 for the 1988 and 1989 samples. Sample locations are on Figure R3, gold values were plotted on Figure #4. Elemental values in the gossan are enhanced from typical barren andesites in Au, Ag, As, Mg, Cu, Pb, Zn. Sample 89 BISKUT 24 (gossan) which had minor galena in a fracture ran 23ppb Au, 3.5 ppm Ag, 1155 ppm Pb, 3583 ppm Zn and 1700 ppb Hg. Sample 89BISKUT 58 which had the highest gold value (138 ppb) was a float sample of pyritic (10%) andesite with arsenopyrite in glacial debris. A trachytic outcrop (89.BISKUT 56) had a gold value of < 1 ppb. None of the samples were of economic interest.

5 -4- DISCUSSION A geochemically anomalous gossan (felsite) trending N 60 E and being 300 metres long and metres wide is believed to be highly altered andesite. Within the area of gossan the rocks are limonitic, silicified, pyritic, with traces of galena. Extensive outcrop in cliffs exists to the south of the gossan and is pyroclastic andesite. North of the showings the hillside is covered and overburden with little outcrop although talus indicates mostly andesite rocks. The limestone mapped by the G.S.C. and Rein Turna was not visited. The few course phenocrystic trachyte outcrops found central in the gossan were not geochemically anomalous. Costs for the 1989 program were $2, Table $5. and are summarized on CONCLUSION The gossan is altered andesitic pyroclastics and to a minor degree weakly altered phenocrystic trachyte. The gossan is confined to the south by a creek which probably defines a N 60 E fault. To the north the extent of the gossan is largely unknown due to overburden but is not thought to be as extensive as that implied by Souther (19711, from talus rubble composition. Gossan outcrops are anomalous in Au, Ag, As, Mg, Cu, Pb, and Zn but no chips or grab samples of economic interest were obtained. Due to the high interest: in any "felsic" rocks in this area because of the Eskay Creek discovery, the claim should be kept in good standing for one more year to more thoroughly prospect and geochemically sample? the northern segment of the claims.
