1 GROUND WATER INVESTIGATION REPORT 1)LOCATION : ALALNKAR CONSTRUCTIONS. N0:41,BRINDAVAN NAGAR MAIN ROAD MADAMBAKKAM CHENNAI. 2)METHOD OF STUDY 3)AIM OF STUDY :GEOPHYSICAL RESISTIVITY SURVEY AND HYDROGEOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS. : TO LOCATE A FAVOURABLE LOCATION FOR BORE WELL TO EXTRACT GROUND WATER FOR THE PROPOSED APARTMENT DOMESTIC USE. 4)DATE OF SURVEY : )POINTS MARKED :THREE POINTS. ( ONE POINT SELECTED FOR DRILLING BORE WELL) THE INFERED UNDER GROUND FORMATION THROUGH THE GEOPHYSICAL RESISTIVITY SURVEY CONDUCTED IN THE VACANT PLOT SITE AND THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BORE WELL IS AS UNDER. LOCATION NO. UNDER GROUND FORMATION. 0 1 m TOP SOIL 1 3 m CLAY II 3 5 m ROCK GRAVELS 5 7 m WEATHERED ROCK 7 11 m BOULDER ROCK m HIGHLY FRACTURED ROCK RECOMMENDED FOR A 6 INCHES DIAMETER AND 90 m (300 FEET) DEPTH BORE WELL m MASSIVE ROCK m FISSURED ROCK m LESS FISSURED ROCK m MASSIVE ROCK

2 RECOMMENDATIONS. BASED ON THE GEOPHYSICAL RESISTIVITY SURVEY CONDUCTED IN THE SITE AREA THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATIONS ARE SUGGESTED. 1)THE SITE AREA IS SUITABLE FOR DRILLING A NEW BORE WELL. THE SITE AREA IS A HARD ROCK TERRAIN HENCE THE BORE WELL HAS TO BE DRILLED ON TRIAL BASIS ONLY. 2)THE LOCATION NO.II MARKED IN THE SITE AREA IS A FAVOURABLE LOCATION FOR DRILLING A BORE WELL.(REFER THE ENCLOSED SITE SKETCH). 3)IN THE MARKED LOCATION NO: II BY USING A DTH RIG A 6 INCHES DIAMETER BORE WELL MAY BE DRILLED UP TO A DEPTH OF 90 m (300 FEET) BELOW GROUND LEVEL. BELOW 100m THE FORMATION IS HARD MASSIVE ROCK, HENCE IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DRILLING FURTHER DEPTH, HENCE THE BORE WELL DEPTH IS RESTRICTED TO 90m (300 FEET).IN THE SITE AREA THE FRACTURES AND FISSURES ARE THICK AND THIN IN NATURE HENCE THE BORE WELL MAY BE YIELD ENOUGH QUANTITY OF GROUND WATER IN ALL SEASON. 4) IF THE BORE WELL IS DRILLED AND DESIGNED PROPERLY THE BORE WELL WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE WATER FOR A 1.5 HP JET MOTOR PUMP SET CONTINEOUSLY. THE BORE WELL MAY BE OPERATED WITH INTERVALS OF TIME AND ALOW ENOUGH TIME FOR THE BORE WELL FOR WATER RECOUPERATION. 5)THE BORE WELL WATER MAY BE IN POTABLE STANDARD AND THE WATER WILL BE SUITABLE FOR ALL PURPOSES AND ALSO FOR DRINKING PURPOSES.HOWEVER THIS HAS TO BE GOT CONFIRMED THROUGH CHEMICAL ANALYSIS. 6)PROPER RAIN WATER HARVESTING STRUCTURES MAY BE CONSTRUCTED NEAR THE BORE WELL IN ORDER TO GET MORE GROUND WATER DURING SUMMER SEASON AND ALSO TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE WATER. HYDROGEOLOGIST.
