3 Drilling Rig Types Basic Knowledge Drilling rigs are professional machines. They could be divided into many types according to different rules. 1.Drilling method: Rotary rig(with mud pump), DTH rig (with air compressor) and combined(with mud pump and air compressor). 2.Drilling depth capacity: Surface sampling rig(2-50m), Shallow rig(50-300m), Middle-deep hole rig( m), Deep hole rig( m), Super-deep hole rig( m) etc. 3.Usage: Rock core sampling rig, oil rig, water well rig, mining rig, construction rig etc. 4.Operation site: Above-ground rig, gallery rig, submarine rig etc. Our DLX series drilling rigs: Designed for rock core sampling & water well drilling above ground, usually only work with mud pump, but could also be used with air compressor. Largest working depth is about 2200m.

6 Drilling Rig Working Method DLX Series Rigs 1.Drilling Power: Weight of drill rods, vertical shaft pressure and rotary of bits. 2.Mud goes down to hole bottom from empty drill rods then goes out with rock fragment from gap between rod and well wall. 3.Drilling through rock layers 1>Water well drilling: Triturating rocks directly with Three-wing PDC bits or tricone bit. 2>Rock core sampling: Cutting down cylindrical core sample by alloy bit or diamand bit then the sample left in core barrel and be took out.
