6 MONARCH PARK COLLEGIATE 6 PART B: INQUIRY AND COMMUNICATION (36 MARKS) INVESTIGATION: ACCELERATION DUE TO GRAVITY DESIGN: You will use a mouse ball, 2 metre sticks to make a ramp, a stopwatch and a Science 10 textbook. Allow the mouse ball to roll down the ramp for different distances (maximum 100 cm). The amount of time it takes the mouse ball to roll the different distances is given to you (see the following data). A velocity - time graph to determine the acceleration of the mouse ball will be drawn. Data: The mouse ball is at rest at 0 seconds. It takes an average time of 1.0, 1.4, 1.7, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, and 3.15 seconds to roll 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 centimetres. QUESTIONS: a) What is the question (problem) to be investigated? (1 mark) b) Using the above information and the data provided, write a detailed procedure (in numbered steps) that you will follow to carry out this investigation. (10 marks)
