3 Implementation Status Overview Project implementation in Malawi continues to progress steadily across all components. Advisors have been engaged to revise the sector legislation, the detailed feasibility study for the PPP has been completed and transaction advisors for executing the PPP have been engaged and are in the process of drafting tender documents. Contracts for the first round of the last mile connectivity component have been awarded and the government is starting work on the next phase. Procurement and financial management on the project have been progressing smoothly and an unqualified audit has been received. In Mozambique progress has been slow, especially in the telecommunication reforms related components. A few major contracts have been awarded (Microsoft and purchase of IRU) which are expected to increase project disbursements over the next few months. In Tanzania, implementation progress has been slow with most activities delayed; however, there is a noticeable improvement in the last 4 months. The rural-connectivity and international bandwidth subcomponents are relatively ahead as 3 tenders with estimated total value of $14 million have been launched.
