3 LOCATION: the diamond s ranch is located 31 miles south of marfa, tx by traveling 7 miles south on hwy 67 from marfa, tx, turning southeast on hwy 169 for 24 miles, east 2 miles over ranch road to the beginning of the ranch. HEADQUARTERS: the headquarters home/lodge is a modern 2,500sq ft home with a 26ft X 14ft covered patio, groomed lawn, a 46ft X 126ft 10ft deep swimming or fishing pond with lighted dock, fish feeder, & pond aerator. other improvements include a hunter s camp house- 1,500+/-sq ft that sleeps eight, foreman s house- 1,400+/-sq ft, 26ft X12ft portable tact room house, 20ft X 30ft hay barn, 20ft X 26ft frame & tin storage barn, two 22ft X 22ft adobe garages with connection carport between the two. 4 hay storage bulk feeder landing strip airplane canapy WATER: the ranch is watered by six water wells via 30+/- miles of pipeline to cisterns, booster pumps, steel or concrete water troughs. the water well at the headquarters is 450ft in depth & tested in excess of 100 gpm. the other ranch wells vary in depth from approx. 300ft to 500ft. two of the windmill equipped wells need minor work & water is currently being supplied from the house well & another well, leaving no area un-watered. there is another earthen pond below the headquarters, originally built that was 102ft X 2011ft 14ft in depth, located in a low point in the canyon. because of the height of the dam & during the rainy season, the pond expands to cover 5 to 7 acres creating a pretty small lake which never goes dry. cistern earthen pond/lake VEGETATION: the ranch provides good grazing for cattle with a broad mix of love grass, sideoats grama, hairy grama, blue grama, tridens & tobosa. brush & cacti found is mostly twin thorn acacia, agarita bush, cresote bush, sotol, ocotillo, spanish dagger/yucca. the ranch offers ideal habitat & browse for mule deer, aoudad sheep, scaled blue quail, dove & many species of wildlife.
5 TERRAIN: the west end is low to high rolling hills & canyon with a steady increase in elevation the first two miles to the headquarters located in a canyon basin. as you continue east, the mountains get quickly higher with deeper canyons with scenic volcanic rim rocks & bluffs leading to the large high mesa tops with deep bluff line canyons to the east boundary at 5,180ft towering over the 02 ranch 1,000ft below & 360 degree spectacular views. terrain PASTURES & CORRALS: the ranch is divided up into five large pastures, & four traps all fenced with barbed wire over net wire. all fencing appears to be in above average condition. located at the headquarters is a large set of pipe /welded wire panel corrals with loading chute & round pen of railroad ties/bull wire. these corrals can handle up to 600+ head. there is another set of pipe corrals with chutes located in the heart of the ranch which will handle 400+ head. both sets of corrals are in excellent condition.
