Report on cryosphere related activity in Uzbekistan. CryoNet Asia Workshop (The second Session) Salekhard, 2 5 February 2016 Klimentiy Valiev Centre of Hydrometeorological Service at Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) 72, 1 st Bodomzor yuli str., Tashkent, , Uzbekistan Tel/Fax : (99871) omogya@meteo.uz

Uzhydromet NOAA-15,19 Meteosat -7,9 t 7,10 Terra/Modis CMACast (Feng Yun-3А) 83 meteorological stations Ecological observations Surface water pollution at 58 water bodies, at 86 stations, 108 gauges Hydrobiological observations at 10 water bodies, 27 gauges Atmosphere precipitation pollution at 16 stations Air pollution in 32 cities and settlement at 61 posts Soil pollution by toxicant of agricultural origin in 13 regions Soil pollution by toxicant of industrial origin surround 14 cities 145 hydrological stations Climate studies Satellite date receiving stations from 4 platforms 3 meteorological radars Аномалия температуры А2 (high) А1B (mid) В2 (mid) В1(low) данные наблюдений

Uzhydromet is currently carrying out different types of observations on continuing basis that are related to cryosphere: Snow depth and solid precipitation measurements on the network of meteorological stations (80 metstations including 8 in mountains). Solid precipitation and river and lakes ice observations on the network of hydrological stations (about 70 and 121 hydrostations respectively). Complex of physical parameters for snow cover on two avalanche stations. Snow depth and snow water equivalent on two snow measurement routes. Decadal snow depth and snow water equivalent observation on the part of met and hydro stations (different each year) Snow depth observation in high mountains of Uzbekistan using remote snow measurement stakes (from helicopter). Monitoring of glacial lakes. Snow cover evaluation using MODIS data.

More than 80 points currently. That covers the altitudes from 1800 meters to 3700 meters above the sea level and the territory of more than 5 thousands square kilometres. 7 river basins are covered and remote inaccessible (to land based surveys) sites are studied in high mountains from helicopter.

Systematic observations from seventieth-eightieth till nowadays Solid methodological background Two principal guidances: Snow measurement guidance in mountains Instructional lines for organization and carrying out aircraft based observations of snow cover in mountains

Observations of outburst dangerous high mountain lakes on the territory of Uzbekistan are carried out on continuing basis. These observations include investigation of near glacier zones and glaciers in order to detect lakes with high potential for outburst and monitor the situation changes that originate from the processes within and near the glacier.

Background from International geophysical year and sixteenth decade of active study on glaciers Glaisers catalogisation by A.S. Shetinnkov in 1957 and Instrumental surveys of glaciers and their termini: Turpackbel, Ayutor-2, Karabulak and Barkrak right (1957, ) Abramov station, Severtseva station, Kyzylcha station Gamma-surveys of snow cover water equivalent

National glaciers inventory for 2010 by T. V. Kudyshkin, Yu. A. Tarasov, A. V. Yakovlev In 2014 national glaciers inventory was performed by Uzhydromet (NIGMI) for complete territory of Uzbekistan for the year 2010
