1 ArcWhatever: A Shrt Explanatin f Sme ESRI Prducts ArcGIS is a cmplete, single, integrated system fr gegraphic data creatin, management, integratin, and analysis. ArcGIS is scalable since it can be deplyed n an individual desktp r acrss a glbally distributed netwrk f peple. ArcGIS Desktp refers t a suite f fur integrated cre applicatins: ArcReader, ArcView, ArcEditr and ArcInf. The ArcGIS Desktp prducts (ArcView, ArcEditr, and ArcInf) are Internet-enabled and can seamlessly integrate data frm any ArcIMS server fr analysis with lcal data. Organizatins deply the sftware and extensins f ArcGIS, ArcView, ArcEditr, ArcInf, ArcSDE, and ArcIMS in a cnfiguratin apprpriate fr their needs. ArcView includes all the functinality f ArcReader and prvides data visualizatin, query, analysis, and integratin capabilities alng with the ability t create and edit simple gegraphic features. ArcEditr is the cmplete GIS desktp system fr editing and managing gegraphic data. ArcEditr is a member f the ArcGIS family f GIS prducts and includes all the functinality f ArcView in additin t cmprehensive GIS edit tls. ArcInf is the mst cmplete and extisible GIS available. It includes all the functinality f Arcview and ArcEditr and add advanced geprcessing and data cnversin capabilities. Prfessinal GIS users use ArcInf fr all aspects f data building, mdeling, analysis, and map display fr screen and utput. ArcSDE is a server sftware prduct used t access massively large multiuser gegraphic databases stred in relatinal database management systems (RDBMSs). It is an integrated part f ArcGIS and a cre element f any enterprise GIS slutin. ArcIMS is the slutin fr delivering dynamic maps and GIS data and services via the Web.
