2 SHOW RULES 1. Orchidexpo 2018 is sanctioned by the American Orchid Society, following the rules of the AOS Handbook on Judging and Exhibition and following the provisional rules of the AOS Judging Committee. 2. Upon registration, each exhibitor commits himself to respect the rules of this show. 3. Any question or litigation concerning the interpretation or the application of the present rules must be submitted to the Show President or to the Judging President, depending on the motif. Decisions are final and without appeal. The French version of the Show rules has precedence over the English version for any interpretation or application purposes. 4. Exhibitors must express the space needed for their exhibit or the number of sale tables needed. Registrations that do not respect the official classification will be disqualified. 6. Identification cards for all exhibitors will be provided by Les Orchidophiles de Montréal. No other type of identification will be allowed in the Exhibition Hall. 7. Tables for exhibits will be provided free of charge. However, canvas, decorative plants and others must be provided by the exhibitor. 8. Reasonable efforts will be made to give each exhibitor the space needed for his exhibit. 9. Decorative lighting must be provided by the exhibitor and is under his responsibility. It must be approved by the floor Director. Any lighting modifying the colors will eventually be turned off during judgment. 10. The Floor Director has the right to remove any exhibit or part of exhibit of insufficient quality. 11. Registration and help form organizers is free of charge. 12. No registration will be accepted for judging after 8:30 pm, Friday, March 23, Articles not registered in due time will be exhibited but not judged for show trophies. Registration can be done on the web site before 23:59, Thursday, March 22, 2018 or by at info@orchidophilesmontreal.ca

3 13. No screen, curtain or partition is supplied. Nothing can be suspended or fixed to existing walls. Exhibitors must supply all their exhibit material. Any reasonable material is allowed. 14. Orchids must be the only flower plants of exhibits, except for corsages; in this category, orchids must predominate. 15. Set-up is allowed during the scheduled period. All plants must be in place by 12:00 pm, Friday, March 23, Any plant or cut flower shipment for exhibition purposes by Les Orchidophiles de Montréal for absent exhibitors must be received before 6:00 pm, Friday, March 23, Arrangements must have been made at least a week before the show with the Show President. 17. Vendors selling orchids during the show must make an exhibit of a size relative to their number of sales tables. These tables are available at 200$ each. 18. Classes are open to all, except those which, in the catalogue, require an eligibility condition. 19. Entries in the Artistic Division (classes 300 through 309) must be the exhibitor's original creations. 20. Class 307 is open only to valid members of Les Orchidophiles de Montréal. 21. Registration for judging purposes will take place from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, March 23, The class to which a plant belongs to is determined by the smallest possible class number, depending on the cross. 23. A plant can only be registered in one class. However, a plant registered in the Fragrance category can also be registered in another category for judging. 24. Any registration in classes 1, 2, 3 and 4 can also be made in category 6 (Guest Orchid Society) if it complies with the class conditions. 25. Any plant to be judged must be identified by its genus and species name and, in the case of hybrids, by its hybrid name. Mericlones and awarded plants must be identified as such. 26. Any plant submitted for judging must belong to the exhibitor for at least three (3) months. 27. An amateur is a person cultivating orchids as a hobby and who does not sell more than 50 orchids per year. 28. Hybrid means intrageneric hybrid (more than one species of the same genus in its ancestry). Intergeneric hybrids or intergenerics refer to hybrids made of species ancestors belonging to different genera.

4 29. Only the judges, their aides and authorized personnel can be on the exhibition floor at the time of the judging. 30. Judges and judging aides must acquaint themselves with the show rules. 31. Ribbons will be given to the first, second and third places of each category, at the judges' discretion ; however, only one first place ribbon can be awarded for each category. Rosettes and/or trophies will be given as mentioned. 32. Judges have the authority to give or not to give any ribbon, award or trophy, as well as to subdivide any category. 33. In addition to ribbons and/or trophies given by the judges, plants and flowers could eventually receive mentions from the American Orchid Society. Upon presenting an article, each exhibitor accepts to receive any given mention and to pay the associated costs to the American Orchid Society. If the exhibitor does not wish to accept such mention, he must specify " No AOS judgment " on the registration form. Plants with an inflorescence already presented and submitted to AOS judging are non admissible to AOS mentions and should be identified as " No AOS judgment ". 34. Inscription tags must be removed from the exhibits at the end of the judgment and before the public admission. 35. Les Orchidophiles de Montréal and the Cégep de Maisonneuve are not responsible for any theft or damage to plants, flowers, pots, exhibits or any object belonging to exhibitors. However, all possible necessary precautions will be taken to prevent such losses or damages. 36. All plants, exhibits and other objects presented must be in place until 5:15 pm, Sunday March 25, 2018, have they been sold or not. 37. Any material returned at the demand of an exhibitor will be at his own expenses. The Show Director will dispose as he sees fit of any material not claimed or for which no agreement will have taken place about its disposal. 38. Access to the exhibition site ant to the sales area is free of charge to all members of Les Orchidophiles de Montréal wearing their valid membership card.

5 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE 1. The exhibitor must go to Les Orchidophiles de Montréal's Table d'accueil to get his exhibit location and, if applicable, his sales table location and other documents. 2. Exhibitors must use the registration sheet as required and write legibly. 3. Identify oneself as an exhibitor OR the represented Society. 4. For each registered item, write the category number (# Catég / Class #). Write the name of each registered plant. If the plant is a hybrid, write the parents' names after the hybrid's name. If the plant has received an award, write its acronym (AM, HCC, FCC, etc). DO NOT WRITE IN THE OTHER SPACES. 5. A classification list of the genera is available in the registration room. WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK FOR HELP!!! 6. Return the registration sheets to the inscription aides. You will be given a stand number (# Stand), an exhibitor number (# Exposant) and a tag number (Étiquette / Tag) for each registered item. 7. After the registration, exhibitors will receive a tag for each registered item. Exhibitors must check these tags, make the corrections as need ed and give them back to a registration aide before the end of the registration period. 8. Each exhibitor of a group exhibit or a Society must use a separate registration form and receive his own exhibitor number (Exposant). There will only be one stand number (# Stand). 9. If in need of help or information, please ask the registration aides. 10. ONLY THE REGISTRATION AIDES HAVE ACCESS TO THE ADJUDICATION ROOM.

6 PRE-REGISTRATION 1. Send your plant registration forms by regular mail. Make sure they arrive at the latest on Thursday March 22, Be especially careful if you send your information from the U.S. since it can take more that 10 days for regular mail to be delivered in Canada.
