5 SCHEDULE RULES AND GENERAL CONDITIONS As a condition of entry to this Show, all exhibitors agree to the following rules and conditions contained in this Schedule: 1. This is a benched Show and it shall be judged in accordance with AOC rules unless otherwise stated in this Schedule. 2. Entry in classes 1 10 is open to all financial members of an orchid society. 3. All exhibits must be tabled by the time specified in this Schedule. 4. All plants must be in show bench condition, and be disease and pest free. 5. All plants must have been owned by the exhibitor for a minimum of six (6) months prior to the commencement of this show. 6. All orchids must carry a securely fixed label as close as practicable to the flower, printed in accordance with the IOC publication The Handbook on Orchid Nomenclature. Exhibitors must obtain an Exhibitor Number at the Plant Recording Table prior to benching their plant/s. This number is to be attached to the front of the plant label. The owners name must not appear on plant labels. 7. All labels must be legible and contain the plant name on the front of the label. 8. Other than orchids, the only flowering plants permitted in the show are Anthuriums and Bromeliads. 9. The organising committee of the Diamond Festival of Orchids, their agents or the owner of the venue at which the Diamond Festival of Orchids is being held, will not accept any responsibility for theft, loss, destruction or damage occasioned to plants, floral art, photographs or art work, either during transport to or from the venue, or while on display at the show. However, as much care as possible will be taken to avoid the above happening. 10. Plants may not be removed from the show except for judging purposes or until the official termination of the show. If a special circumstance arises which requires the removal of a plant, permission must first be obtained from the Show Marshal or his or her deputy. 11. A pollinated, dead or dying flower on an inflorescence shall not disqualify the plant or inflorescence from judging but shall detract from the merit of the plant. 12. Any inflorescence being judged from which a bud or flower is missing or has been removed, shall be disqualified from judging unless the missing flower/s are presented with the plant. 13. A minimum of 50% of the flowers on a plant or inflorescence must be fully opened before it is eligible to be judged. The percentage of fully open flowers mentioned above, will not apply when it is the habit of the orchid never to have all of the flowers on the inflorescence open at one time. 14. Classes with fewer than 3 plants will be judged. 15. All Best of Class winners will be eligible for Champion Orchid. After the Champion of Show has been selected, the orchid judged to be second to the Champion of Show in the class from which that Champion came, shall be eligible to be judged for Reserve Champion. 16. The Show Marshal will answer any questions in respect of the Show Schedule, Conditions of Entry, Definitions, Classification of Orchids, or interpretations requiring a ruling. All decisions given shall be binding, final and non-negotiable. All judging decisions shall be binding, final and non-negotiable. 17. Each orchid shall be judged in one class only. 18. Plants judged in Classes 2.01 and 2.02 must have at least one (1) exotic species in their parentage. 19. Staking, tying and other means of support will be permitted. However, the use of staking, ties or clips should be as unobtrusive as possible and be capable of being easily removed during judging, if necessary, to allow for detailed judging evaluation. The Judging Panel has the right to remove any staking, tie or clip, if necessary in order to ascertain the strength of the inflorescence. In all genera, no inflorescence is to be tied, clipped or supported on any part of the flower or its attachment to the inflorescence. The use of plant clips is permitted.
