1 Canberra Orchid Society Annual Spring Show 2015 The Society s Annual Spring Orchid Show in 2015 was held on 26 and 27 September in the Lancaster Hall at the Wesley Centre in Forrest. Almost 900 people attended. There were 211 plant entries, 1 display of plants and 11 entries in Art, Craft and Photography for judging. A wide range of interesting and less common orchids were entered in the show. Plant sales, refreshments and potting demonstrations were popular as usual. The society gratefully acknowledges the support of local enterprises and orchid vendors (see below). For the first time the show was attended by a vendor of orchid growing supplies. Australian native terrestrial orchids, often overlooked as orchids, again performed well at the show being awarded show champion and champion specimen well done Nita Wheeler and Peter Coyne respectively. The society is small in number of members and the show requires our substantial effort in many activities, be it food preparation, transport of tables, setup of the hall, staffing the sales table, handling registrations etc. Thank you to those members who helped make the show a success. The popular vote went to Paphiopedilum rothschildianum grown by David Judge while Mark Clements was the most successful exhibitor. Winners in the raffle included B. Petersen, R. Rice and M. Moncur.
