As before, we have collected plants from vendors all over Southern California, and from select vendors in the United States, and around the world. You will be able to bid on blooming plants, species, hybrids, and orchid supplies. Doug Overstreet has again agreed to be our auctioneer. Doug is an enthusiastic and knowledgable orchid grower, AOS Judge, and orchid specialist of the Thornton Conservatory for The Huntington. We are urging members to invite friends, neighbors, and anyone they know, who might have an interest in orchids. Contact Janell ( ) for auction flyers. Plant donations from members are welcomed. Please assure they are healthy, and, if possible, contact one of the board members to register your plants before the auction. If you are bringing them to the auction, be sure to arrive early in order to have your plants labeled and entered in the auction data base. Refreshments will be served. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., to allow time to set up the chairs and tables and arrange the plants and materials for auction, so that plant viewing can start at 6:00 p.m. We will start the auction at 6:30 p.m. Everything is there to be sold. Come early to view the offerings, and make a list of those you want to add to your collection. Refreshments SCOS will provide the refreshments. No need to bring food.

2 President's Message Auction time is here. As everyone knows, this our one big fund raiser for the year. It helps pay for the hall rental, speakers, and plant tables. It is very important that all our members participate in some way with the auction. Please come to the auction and invite others to join you. Hope to see everyone at the auction. If you would like to help the night of the auction, please contact Mong Noiboonsook or other board members. If you have plants or items you would like to donate for the auction, also contact one of our board members. We enjoyed a very interesting and informative presentation last month on the Orchids of Vietnam, which included some familiar species and many unusual varieties. So many orchids, so little time.
