7 Page 7 of 8 SHOW IS OPEN TO ALL FINANCIAL MEMBERS OF TOOWOOMBA ORCHID SOCIETY (Updated as at 3rd May 2017) Schedule Rules & General Conditions for TOS shows. Rules & Conditions:- 1. All entries are free and opened to all current financial members of The Toowoomba Orchid Society Inc. (financial means, as at the last general club meeting prior to the show). Members wishing to bench plants and or sell plants must have attended five General meetings and or tendered apologies during the past 12 months. The Show Committee has the power to waive this condition in special circumstances eg: new member. 2. The show shall be judged in accordance with AOC Rules unless otherwise stated in the schedule. 3. Plant tags must be securely fixed as close as practicable to the flower. 4. All plants must be tabled by the time specified in the schedule. 5. Show Marshall (in communication with at least one other show committee member) will ask stewards to remove plants that are considered not in show bench condition or considered potentially diseased or infected by insects (This includes any sales plants in club sales area). 6. All plants MUST have been owned by the exhibitor for a minimum of (6) six months prior to the commencement of the Show. 7. Staking and tying shall be sufficient to support the inflorescence, but shall be unobtrusive and not detract from the display of the bloom. Ties must be removable. 8. A seedling plant is identified as one which is flowering for the first time ; which has been raised by seed and not a mericlone or a division of an older plant. It is to be identified by an additional pink label with the word Seedling printed on it. 9. A specimen plant is identified as a single clone carrying many spikes as appropriate to its genera as defined by judges. It is to be one plant and not several of the same clone/s placed together. The plant will have a large number of flowers and show evidence of good culture over a long period of time. 10. Any inflorescence being judged from which a flower or bud has been removed or is missing (e.g. may be transport damage) on the spike shall be included in judging (at judge s discretion) unless the missing flower or flowers are not presented with the plant. 11. A pollinated, dead or dying flower shall not disqualify that plant from judging but will detract from the quality of the plant. 12. A minimum of 50% of the flower/flowers on a plant or inflorescence must be fully opened before it is eligible to be judged. The exception to that is if they are a sequentially flowering plant. 13. All classes that are on the show schedule will be judged. If there is only one or two in the class and judges consider the plants worthy of a placing then they are to be awarded as appropriate (1st, 2nd, 3rd). If the flower quality is not up to a standard appropriate to the judging panel then judges do not need give placings/awards. 14. Plants are to be exhibited in one class only, except for Champion s classes, Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. 15. The Show Marshall shall answer any question on eligibility, definitions, classification or interpretations requiring a ruling. All decisions the show marshall

8 Page 8 of 8 delivers on are final & non-negotiable. 16. No plant or plants may be removed from the show except for judging purposes or until the completion/end of the show. This can be waived only after permission is given by the show marshall and/or the Show Committee. 17. An Australian Native Orchid is defined as a native orchid species as being found on the Australian mainland or any coastal island under the political control of an Australian State or territory, but does not include natural hybrids. 18. An Australian Native Hybrid, including natural hybrid, is the progeny exclusively of Australian Native Orchid Species or their hybrids, that is to say, no exotic orchid shall be included in their ancestry. 19. In Championship classes only a first place will be awarded. 20. The Grand Champion Orchid of the show shall be selected from the winners of the Section Champions. Reserve Champion Orchid shall be selected from the remaining winners ( Section Champions ) plus the second best orchid chosen from the sectional group from which the Grand Champion Orchid was chosen. 21. Classes and/or amendments may be made to the Show Schedule in any section as required by the show committee or Show Marshall on the night of judging. 22. The judge s decision is FINAL and non-negotiable. Judging Panel Leader: The Club requests that the judging panels are divided so that each panel judges complete genera sections (thus a single panel can then judge sectional champions as they go) and the Judging Panel Leader accepts this request from the club. Please no splitting of sections between panels. This is requested to assist in the shortening of judging panel time for our shows. The Committee of Toowoomba Orchid Society Inc., will take all reasonable care but will not accept any responsibility for the theft, loss, destruction or damage occasioned to orchids & or other entries or items, either during transport to & from the venue or while on display at the show. All entries must be on the bench at the show venue by 6:00pm. For any other information please contact: The Secretary, Toowoomba Orchid Society Inc.
