4 Class 6 Photography 601 Orchids at a micro scale - miniature flower(s) or a part of a flower or plant that is usually too small to be seen with the naked eye (e.g. hairs on a labellum) 602 Orchids in natural habitat - orchids among the flora, fauna, and landscape 603 Orchids out of context - orchids found outside the orchid house, orchid show or natural habitat (e.g. electrical poles on the street) 604 Orchids as geometry - a celebration of orchid morphology; symmetry, scale and arrangement 605 Award style photography plants not necessarily of award quality. Photography Conditions 1. Entries of exhibits shall be free and open to members of orchid societies and other invited groups. Acceptance of any entry shall be conditional on the exhibitor agreeing to be bound by the conditions set out below. Exhibits must show the class and exhibitor s ID number on the rear of the photograph as prearranged with Show Marshall. 2. ANOS Inc. or its agents accept no responsibility for the theft, loss, destruction or damage of any kind to photographs either during transport to or from the show or while at the show for display. All reasonable care will be taken. 3. All orchids featured in the photographs must be Australasian as defined in the ANOS Inc. constitution. See anos.org.au 4. The judges have the right to determine the class in which any photograph may be exhibited. The judges may reject, remove or rearrange any entry and combine or establish extra classes if needed. 5. Exhibits must be finalised by 8.30 am on Thursday 22nd August Photographs must not be removed before the termination of the show. 7. A maximum of four photographs in total per exhibitor will be allowed initially. This may be increased by agreement with photographic judges. 8. Photographs must feature orchids and be 250 x 200 mm (10 x 8 inches) or have a long axis no longer than 250 mm (10 inches), printed in matte and with no border. They must not be framed or mounted in any way. They will be attached to the display board using sticky Velcro dots unless by prior arrangement. 9. Digital copies of the photographs are to be sent to the Show Marshall a minimum of two weeks prior to the show for checking of class, orchid identification and labelling. A class and ID number will be printed prior to the show and available at the time of display. Photographs must have been taken by the exhibitor and not exhibited in any previous photographic competition. At the discretion of the judging panel, photographs with excessive manipulation or enhancement will not be judged. 10. Photographs remain the property of the photographer but may be used for publication with attribution in The Orchadian or in Proceedings of the Show and Conference.

5 Definitions Australasian: Australasia as defined by the ANOS Constitution, including Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Irian Jaya, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and New Caledonia. An Australian Native Orchid Species: An Australian native orchid species is one found growing on the Australian mainland, Tasmania, or any island under the political control of an Australian state but does not include natural hybrids. An Australian Native Orchid Hybrid: Shall be the progeny exclusively of Australian native orchid species or their hybrids; that is to say, no exotic orchid shall be included in their parentage or ancestry. Seedling: A seedling must comprise the whole of the plant being exhibited on the show bench in its first flowering season. Wild collected plants or plants which have been divided prior to being exhibited are not eligible. The removal of any inflorescence shall disqualify the plant from being judged as a seedling. List of Australian Dendrobium section Dendrocoryne species: D. adae, D. aemulum, D. callitrophilum, D. falcorostrum, D. finniganense, D. fleckeri, D. gracilicaule, D. jonesii, D. kingianum, D. moorei, D. speciosum, D. tetragonum. Conditions of Entry and Rules for Showing 1. Classes cover Australasian native orchids only. Other orchid species or hybrids are ineligible. 2. The staging of all exhibits in all classes is under the control of the Show Marshall or their nominee. Any decisions made by the Show Marshall are final and binding. 3. The Show Marshall or nominee reserves the right to reject, remove or rearrange an exhibit and to combine or expand sections as appropriate depending on entries. 4. All plants exhibited in the Show shall be free of all pests and diseases. If any plant is deemed to be suspect in the opinion of the Show Marshall or the Judges or their representatives, it shall be removed from the Show and be disqualified from competition. 5. Entry of plants shall be free and open to all ANOS groups, ANOS Group members and all other orchid societies and members within the defined Australasian region. 6. Neither ANOS Inc. nor ANOS (Qld) Kabi Group Inc. will be held responsible for any loss, destruction or damage to plants or any other items on display, and no exhibitor and/or seller of plants or other items shall have any claim against the Societies and/or Show Officials. 7. ANOS Judging Standards apply to the Show. The decisions of the Judges shall be final and binding. Plants may be nominated for consideration for ANOS and AOC Awards. 8. Extra sections can be added at the discretion of the Judging Registrar and no prize shall be given if in the opinion of the judges a prize is not warranted. 9. ANOS Inc. and ANOS (Qld) Kabi Group Inc. reserve the right to photograph any plant or exhibit in the Show. 10. Only exhibitors from areas 1500 kilometres or more from Brisbane may exhibit cut flowers. Cut flower exhibits will not be eligible for championship prizes.

6 11. All pots in displays should be disguised. The use of ferns and/or native foliage plants is permitted in displays. No flowers or fruits other than Australasian native orchids are to be used in displays. Exotic foliage plants such as Tillandsia (Spanish moss), Croton and Anthurium are not to be used. 12. Watering of displays is not permitted. Early morning misting may be allowed under the authority of the Show Marshall. 13. Plants competing for prizes shall have been owned and grown by the exhibitor for at least six months prior to the Show. 14. Any plant in a display which the owner considers not eligible for judging must be identified by use of a label of the colour designated for that purpose. All other plants will be judged and considered for prizes in the classes as determined by the Show Marshall and the Judging Panel. (see note 15 below) 15. Each plant in the show to be judged shall be labelled with its correct botanical name or hybrid grex on the standard label supplied or it will not be judged. 16. Plants shall not be removed from any displays or benches before the termination of the Show, except in exceptional circumstances and only then with the approval of the Show Marshall. 17. All plants to be judged as seedlings must be nominated prior to the commencement of judging on the nomination form obtainable from the Show Marshall.
