MPM GROUP 8 th August 2014 THERMOGRAPHIC INSPECTION Client Contact Mr P Sykes Site Hay Street Perth WA Scope of Work Thermographic inspection of electrical installations as per AS/NZS 3019:2007, ISO and ANSI/NETA MTS-2011 Client Order/Reference No To be advised Job Reference No RBNO Client On-site Representative/s N/A Thermographer/Assistant N C Otway and A Tory (EW155253) P Kevin Mitchell ASNT level 2 thermographer for Infra Red Services
SUMMARY OF THERMAL FAULTS RECORDED The following is intended for use by the client to record information on the status of fault repairs Fault no. (eg. TIR-R1) ANSI Fault level Page no. Date action scheduled Date action completed Date reinspected (if required) Reinspection result (if required) There were no areas of abnormal temperature detected that require action by the client Fault levels as per ANSI/NETA MTS 2011 Table ΔT of between 1 o C and 3 o C Fault level 1 Possible deficiency, warrants further investigation and/or monitoring ΔT of between 4 o C and 15 o C Fault level 2 Probable deficiency, repair at next scheduled shutdown ΔT of between >15 o C Fault level 3 Major deficiency, repair immediately 2
SUMMARY OF COMMENTS RECORDED The following is intended for use by the client to record information on the action taken regarding comments. Comment no. (eg. C1 or TIR-RX) Page no. TIR-R1 4 Date action scheduled Date action completed Date reinspected (if required) Reinspection result (if required) Red highlight indicates a significant comment 3

INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO ALL IMAGES Grey scale or colour scale D: 45.5 C B: 45.2 C 71.2 C Monochrome imaging - on this grey scale white is hot and black cool Relative temperatures are in shades of grey (256 grey levels) Colour imaging - on this colour scale, white is hot and black cool Relative temperatures are in different colours 50 Spot temperatures in degrees Celsius 45 A number of points on the image/s may be selected 40 eg D 45.5 and A 71.2 on the image on the right An! indicates that a point is the highest temperature object in the frame C: 45.1 C A!: 71.2 C Emissivity refers to the relative infrared radiation given off by the object surface. The measured temperature of the object depends on the estimation of this value, which may be adjusted by the thermographer. In general, a bright, smooth surface has a low emissivity compared with a dull, matt surface. Where both conditions appear on the same thermogram, the low emissivity area may appear cooler or warmer than the high emissivity area, irrespective of the actual temperatures. Note Close proximity to strong electromagnetic fields can result in distortion of the images. CLASSIFICATION OF ABNORMAL CONDITIONS - Electrical surveys The most important variable which affects the severity of an abnormal condition is the load (amps) applicable at the time of the inspection. This must also be compared with the rating of the component/s. eg. A small temperature rise under low load conditions is more significant than a small temperature rise at the component maximum rating. It is not advisable to specify a priority repair (or severity rating) for the abnormal conditions based on the temperature rise/fall between normal and abnormal. Although the load at the time of inspection is recorded, the duration of this specific reading is seldom known for certain. Often it is either impossible to determine exactly, or time consuming and expensive to establish precisely. Other variables also compound the problem. The following should be considered when assessing abnormal conditions: Compare recorded load with component rating and normal operational load 3 phase motors sustain damage operating on two phases Poor connections are not necessarily loose Only surface temperatures are recorded Function of the equipment eg. computer and lift installations Try the simplest remedy first eg. check if screws are not tightened properly Rating of faults 5 Possible causes of heating Any one, or more, of the following can result in abnormal temperatures: Additions to existing plant Expansion and contraction Insufficient contact area Loose connections Overloading/phase imbalance Single phasing Oxidation/corrosion/pitting Vibration Harmonics In the absence of an applicable Australian Standard inspections are carried out in accordance with ANSI/NETA MTS-2011 section 9 Thermography Survey and ISO Table of ANSI/NETA MTS-2011 defines the following fault levels: ΔT of between 1 C and 3 C Fault level 1 Possible deficiency, warrants further investigation and/or monitoring ΔT of between 4 C and 15 C Fault level 2 Probable deficiency, repair at next scheduled shutdown ΔT of between >15 C Fault level 3 Major deficiency, repair immediately Rating numbers have been added by Infra Red Services for ease of interpretation by the client and are not part of the standard Fault ratings are provided as a guide only and must be interpreted with consideration given to the fact that a change in operating conditions, such as ambient temperature or load (current) levels, can drastically alter a fault condition
ELECTRICAL INSPECTION REPORT SCOPE OF WORK Thermographic inspection of all on line/on load electrical installations as specified by the client. Refer to the following list of Electrical Equipment Inspected page 7. THERMOGRAPHIC INSPECTION EQUIPMENT Avio ThermoTVS-200EX serial no Avio R300SR serial no NEC 7102WL serial no NEC 7102WX serial no APPLICATION Where possible, the removal of all escutcheon panels, doors and covers carried out prior to the inspection. In some cases, interlocking, safety or operational conditions may prohibit access. Temperature gradients across the surface of all accessible components assessed at the time of inspection. Reporting by exception, whereby a record of detected abnormal conditions provided as specified by the client. CONDITION REPORT FORMAT Infra Red Services retains copies of all files, images and documentation indefinitely. Historical data is available to clients on request. ed copy of the report sent to the client format PDF file. Hard copies of reports are not issued by default but can be provided on client request at no additional cost. All reports contain: a) A comprehensive list of equipment inspected. b) Detailed information to assist with interpretation of the results. c) Thermographic Inspection Report (TIR) sheets for each abnormal condition detected. Includes: Marked colour identification images Colour and monochrome thermograms of abnormal conditions Detailed equipment identification including electrical load readings - where possible Normal/abnormal temperature information Possible reason for abnormal temperatures INSPECTION RESULTS No areas of abnormal heating were detected. Attention is drawn to the comment on page 4. Refer to pages 2 and 3 for a summary of faults/comments recorded requiring further action. FOLLOW-UP ACTION Regular reinspections (condition monitoring) can be carried out as an alternative to carrying out costly/untimely repairs in some circumstances. A reinspection is recommended to ensure the efficacy of repairs carried out. This is especially true for critical installations eg. UPS and lift components. Due to the dynamic nature of electrical installations (through expansion and contraction, vibration and cycling/switching actions), an annual inspection of all electrical installations is recommended as a minimum requirement. 6
