He runs his own retail business specializing in Plumeria (and including orchid supplies), and has donated plants to our annual auction. He will speak to us about the cultural requirements attendant to growing plumeria, from seed to tree, and incorporating plumeria into our orchid landscape. The plant table will consist of select plants obtained at the Westminster Mall Orchid Show and Sale this weekend, August. Come join in the gathering and bring orchids for our ribbon judging tables (or just to show off). Refreshments Last names starting with I through Q please bring refreshments.
2 President's Message It has been a very hot summer in California. Keeping hydrated is very important for us as well as our gardens and orchid plants. I missed the July meeting because I was visiting a friend in Hilo, Hawaii. They had plenty of rain in Hilo that we could use in the western US, however the Kiluea volcano eruption has devastated many homes along with the people. When I left last week the lava was still flowing 18 mph straight to the ocean. I understand from Janell that we had great meeting and enjoyed a presentation of the second Burma trip of our speaker, Winn Winmaw. We held a SCOS Board meeting on July 11th. At the meeting John McCoy and Rey Lobo agreed to join the SCOS Board of Directors. They are filling slots expiring Dec Their full term will start January Marilyn Wallan is taking over as our new Membership Secretary. Please welcome our new Board members. Last but certainly not least, SCOS will be hosting our own platform for our website. Fascination of Orchids under the guidance of Tony Glinskas and Roberta Fox has hosted our website since its inception, which benefited our society, but they are restructuring because of security issues. If you have expertise in this area we welcome your assistance in transferring our website to our own platform.
