NTS 53C-13, D-16 INTRODUCTION A detailed geological survey at a scale of 1:5000 was con ducted by Noranda Exploration Company, Limited on the Paw Creek 1-76 property. Four claims were mapped by B. Berger, Field Geologist, in August 1976, and the remaining eleven claims were mapped under Berger's supervision by B. S.hultz, student, in August Fifteen contiguous unpatented mining claims, on MNR claim map titled "South of Borland Lake Area" M.2885, were mapped; these are: KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL KRL LOCATION AND ACCESS The claim group is situated immediately south of Paw Creek; its northwesternmost claim post is located near the southeast shore of Paw Lake. Paw Lake is accessible by float or skiequipped aircraft from Red Lake (208km) or from the settlement of Deer Lake 20kra to the southwest. The west portion of the claim group is accessible from Paw Lake, the east portion is accessible by canoe up Paw Creek, then by trail to the trenched area on KRL SURVEY GRID The survey grid that was established for the scintillation survey was also used for the geology mapping. The chained, flagged lines were spaced at 120m apart and stations were marked at 30m

3 [intervals. A total of 15.2km of line was established. All out crop and outcrop areas were tied into the established grid as accurately as possible. Three coordinate systems were set up, namely the west grid, center grid, and east grid. PROPERTY HISTORY Reconnaissance traverses in July 1976 done in follow-up to an airborne radiometric survey in August 1975 showed the presence of uranophane staining on the surface of granitic rock, and four claims were staked to cover the occurrence. A ground scintillation survey was then done, and a trenching program followed. Eleven additional claims were staked in summer of 1976, and these were surveyed and mapped in No work by any other company or individual is known in the im mediate area. FOREST AND OVERBURDEN The property is about 5 0* outcrop. The outcrop is fairly level, bare, "pavement" type granite, with small depressions of moss and jackpine. In larger areas of low ground, alders and peat bogs occur. There appears to be very little gravel till or clay cover on the claims. GENERAL GEOLOGY All the exposed rock on and in the vicinity of the property is granitic in composition. The property lies with the Berens River Pluton, a sub-province of the Precambrian Canadian Shield; the exposed rocks are probably Archean in age. Uranium and uranium stain (uranophane) is associated with pink aplite and white pegmatitic granite. Uranium is the only mineral of economic value searched for on the property. The geo logical survey was done in conjunction with a scintillometer sur vey, using a Geometric GRS-101 scintillometer. All showings were checked with McPhar TVlA Gamma Ray Spectrometer. Only rocks of granitic nature are found on the property. These can be divided into granodiorite-trondhjemite, and granite.

4 The granodiorite-trondhjemite rocks are white, grey, or pink weathering, composed of 5-10?; biotite, ID-15% quartz and feldspar. They are commonly massive, but locally foliation of platey mineral components develop at {strike average is 120O azimuth). Large scale fractures at 120O are common in these rocks. Minor phases within this rock type consist of xenolithic grano diorite and hybrid equivalents. The granodiorite-trondhjemite rocks are generally non-radioactive, have uniform radiometric background, and thus are not considered a favourable host for uranium mineralization. The other classification of granitic rocks comprises mixed pink aplite and white pegmatite. Content of mafic mineral is low, 51 or less, and quartz content is high, between 10 and 25%. Within the pegmatite phases smokey quartz is common, and within the aplite, as much as 801; of the quartz present is smokey. Uranophane stain is commonly found on the outcrop surface and along fractures. The granitic rocks (pegmatite and aplite) are commonly banded. The banding is due to alternating layers of pink aplite and white pegmatite from a few millimeters to 20cm in thickness. Banding strikes about 120 azimuth and is steep to vertical. All the uranium mineralization known on the property occurs in the pegmatite and/or aplite. Contacts between the granodiorite-trondhjemites and the pegmatite-aplite is gradational and i t., is difficult to draw a discreet contact between them. Contacts, between the smaller units of aplite and pegmatite are, however, sharp and easily dis tinguished. As noted the major foliation i.e. banding strikes 120 azimuth. Major direction of fracturing and jointing is the same. Minor cross fractures at 045O and 070O occur. Trenching in areas of uranophane stain showed a system of horizontal fractures (strain release) which has localized uranophane stain to at least one meter below the outcrop surface.

5 RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS The results of the scintillometer survey, when reviewed with the assistance of the geology map, indicate that the uranium is confined to the banded pink aplite-pegmatite phase of the plutonic rocks. Targets for drilling should be chosen to test the extent of uranium mineralization in the anomaly areas within this for mation. Drill Holes are recommended as follows: #1 Coordinates: 3+OOS 1+20E (center grid) - Bearing : 180OT (az.) Angle : -45 O Depth : 152 meters A drill hole should be planned for the radiometric anomaly on the northwest portion of the claim group KRL and , and a detailed scintillometer survey on a scale of 1:500 should be done over this anomaly in order to select the best location for the drill test.
