2 - l - LOCATION AND ACCESS Lacana Mining Corporation has four unpatented, conti guous claims in the northern part of Gauthier Township. The claims are as follows: L544143, L544144, L and L Access to the property is gained by way of an east trending logging road opposite the Crystal Lake turnoff on the Esker Lake Park access road. PREVIOUS WORK No records were found of previous work on the Lacana claims; it is possible, however, that Taylor in 1940 drilled a short vertical hole on or close to the eastern boundary of claim L Much work has been completed on the adjacent property to the east by Taylor-1940, Northland-1940 and recently, in the 1970's, by Casan Mining. GENERAL GEOLOGY No outcrops occur in the claim group. The area covered by the claims consists of undulating, wooded sand dunes in the west and low lying beaver swamp and ponds in the east and south. Depart ment of Mines geology maps (1941) indicate that the surficial deposits are probably underlain by west striking sedimentary rocks in the south and acid pyroclastics and rhyolites to the north, the contact occur ring in the southern claims. Casan Mining (1976) reports pyrite mineralization with low gold values (0.04 oz./ton highest) in pits close to the volcanic sediment contact to the east.

3 - 2 - GEOPHYSICS (a) METHOD A grid-5.23 miles long-was cut and chained by Gelihas and Associates Ltd. during the winter of 1979/80 to cover the entire claim group. GeoX Ltd. of Timmins were contracted to run an Apex Max Min II horizontal loop EM survey over the grid, using and IJl+JtK-z hz. frequencies and 400 foot coil separation. In and out of phase readings were taken at 100 foot intervals using both frequen cies, and the results are plotted in Figures l and 2. Some of the grid could not be surveyed, owing to open water conditions occur ring late in March, (b) RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS A weak conductor was picked up on line 12E, close to the base line. The conductor is not apparent to the west, possibly masked by thick superficial deposits. A Crone CEM survey should be used to trace the conductor east and west from line 12E. If//"'
