Samples collected were taken along the grid of A, B,C,D Lines, showing the Lucky sample grid lines which were collected in the spring. On June 17 ⅓ of the day was spent collecting the Lucky B Line. Lucky - 21 soils, 6 rocks. On June 24, along the D Line, ⅔ of the day was spent in Lucky collecting 18 soil samples, 22 rock samples, and exploring a large quartz vein in a hard rock exposure. Lucky - 18 soils, 22 rocks On July 3, ⅔ of the day was spent in Lucky and ⅓ spent in Elventor. On Aug 11, I collected C Line from Lucky and Elventor. ½ day in Elventor and ½ day in Lucky. 6 Soil Sample Collection Method and Preparation All soil samples are collected with a 36 soil probe, the probe is plunged as deep as possible into the duff and at times can reach the hard rock depending on the terrain. 1 to 5 soil cores are removed from the ground at each location and carefully placed into a prelabeled 4x7 wax paper bag, which is inside a prelabeled 5x8 2mil plastic ziplock bag. All sample locations were pre-plotted using Google Earth and uploaded onto a Samsung S7 smartphone, and utilized with the Backcountry Navigator GPS application. After a sample has been bagged, a new gps waypoint is created within the application and associated with a photograph of the sample for the records of this report. Samples were plotted and collected approximately 25 meters apart. The probe is wiped clean between samples to minimize contamination. Once back at the office, GPX and KMZ tracks from each hike are uploaded to Google Earth, with the true waypoints recorded during collection included in the file kept for the record. The preplotted Google Earth waypoints are then deleted and only the true waypoints remain. The samples are removed from their plastic bags, and wax bags containing soil are arranged in numerical order and placed on a drying rack inside a greenhouse tent with a dehumidifier. Samples are dried continuously for 2 to 3 days. Once Dry, samples are placed back into the plastic bags and sealed. They are then crushed by hand by squeezing and kneading them until all clumps of soil become uniform. Once all samples are crushed, they are then sieved and screened into prelabeled 4x4 2mil plastic bags. Sieving the samples utilizes a device called the gold rush nugget bucket. It is a small three legged funnel type system. An 80 mesh sieve is placed in the top of the bucket, and 4x4 2mil bags are are attached at the bottom. Each sample is poured into the top and processed through this device one at a time. A electric jigsaw is used as a vibrator to agitate the outside of the bucket, quickly and effectively processing a uniform 80mesh graded soil powder into the bag. After the samples are processed, re-bagged, and zipped, they are hung from a wire to keep them organized. Between each sample processing, all equipment is cleaned out using an air compressor and an air chuck. The sieve and funnel are thoroughly cleaned to minimize contamination. This whole process from crushing, to hanging the completed bag, to cleaning the equipment takes about 6 minutes in total. Rock Samples Collection and Preparation Method Rock samples can consist of float, road debris and hard rock exposures, and are labeled by type. We actively seek quartz and wherever rock features are exposed or float is discovered during traverse of the grid, it is bagged in 5x8 2mil bags and a special waypoint is created. All rock samples are manually crushed using a homemade rock crusher consisting of a 12 piece of 4 diameter trailer hitch pipe welded to a standing plate at the bottom, with a slightly smaller (3.75 welded trailer hitch pipe) used as a slide hammer inside the 4 dia piece. There is a plate welded to the bottom of the inner pipe to act as a hammer. Each rock is placed inside the larger pipe, then the smaller pipe is placed inside that pipe. A sledge hammer is used to strike a second plate which is welded onto the top of the hammer pipe, and with about swings of the hammer, the rock is crushed. At this point the hammered rock fragments have formed a plug in the bottom of the anvil pipe, which an Estwing GAD prybar is then used to pry out. Once loosened, the rock crush is poured into the original sample bags and organized as described above using a wire. Between each rock crush an air chuck is used to remove any dust and debris that may be still in the larger pipe. The pipe is visually checked with a light to insure it is clean between sample processings. A respirator is worn for safety purposes. Although steps are taken at every opportunity to 8

7 minimize contamination, there is an expectation that not all of the rock powder can be removed after each sample. This level of contamination should be minimal given the nature of the sample processing method. XRF analysis will provide a baseline for potential iron contamination from the processing implements. In future, we will quantify the true amount of contamination by halving a sampling of rocks, sending an unprocessed part to Acme for Fe analysis and processing the other half using our methods and then analyzing those pre-processed samples for Fe at the lab as well, and we will use this sample delta to calculate an error range for iron in our data.. Rocks are then sieved and bagged with the same method used for soil: 80 mesh sieve, funnel, bagged, cleaned, repeat. Coarse sample material that does not pass through the 80 mesh is poured into original collection bag.
