11 CONSTRUCTION FEATURES ELECTRICAL SECTION: MCE/C INVERTER The new MCE/C inverters are the latest ilestone in DAB inverter design. They are the new generation of inverters for use with circulation pups and offer outstanding user-friendliness, power and ease of installation and use. MCE/C inverters are designed to control circulation pups and allow the pup s output to be adapted to the syste s actual requireents through siple control of the differential pressure. They are ounted on the otor fan casing. This akes installation of pups with MCE/C particularly quick and easy. The MCE/C device has I protection. Trouble-free prograing is ensured by the use of a siple, intuitive interface siilar to that on Dialogue electronic circulators and a graphic display. MCE/C inverters are built with two icroprocessors, guaranteeing unbeatable efficiency and reliability. Reliable and rugged construction plus odern and innovative styling coplete the product also fro an aesthetic standpoint. MCE/C inverters protect the otor and the pup and extend their lifetie because they prevent haer blows and operate the pup at the iniu rp required to eet the user s deands. What s ore, electric pups controlled by the MCE/C inverter are environent-friendly, since by ensuring that the pup only consues the power strictly necessary to eet the user s deands they cut electricity consuption significantly copared to fixed speed units. ossibility of creating twin units using the special MCE/C inverter connection cable. Operating odes All the functions listed below can be consulted by all users (even the least skilled) by just scrolling through the MCE/C enu. Calibration and paraeter odification are protected functions, peritted only to skilled users. 1 - Constant differential pressure control ode Δ-c Δ-c control ode keeps the syste s differential pressure constant at the value set (setp) as the flow rate varies. This is the standard control ode, for noral use. It can be set directly fro the MCE/C s control panel. The inverter aintains the differential pressure ( setp) constant as the flow rate varies. This control ode is particularly useful in the following types of installations: a. Two-pipe central heating systes with therostatic valves b. Under-floor central heating systes with therostatic valves c. Single-pipe central heating systes with therostatic and calibration valves d. Installations having priary circuit pups - Constant curve control ode.1 - Constant curve control The rotation speed is kept at a constant rp. The rotation speed can be set between a iniu value and the rated frequency of the circulation pup (e.g. between 1 z and z). This ode can be set using the control panel on the cover of the MCE.. Constant Curve Control with Reote Analogue Signal The rotation speed is kept at a constant nuber of rp proportional to the voltage of the reote analogue signal. The rotation speed varies on a linear scale between the rated frequency of the pup when Vin = 1V and the iniu frequency when Vin = V. This ode can be set using the control panel on the cover of the MCE. DAB UMS reserves the right to ake odifications without notice. 9
12 3 Input and Output Electrical Connections The MCE/C has digital inputs, one analogue input and digital outputs, allowing a nuber of interface solutions to be created with ore coplex installations Digital Inputs The screen-printed key to the digital inputs is provided on the base of the 1 pin terinal board: V l l1/l l1-1 - GND The inputs can be excited in both direct and alternating current. The electrical characteristics of the inputs are illustrated below. 14 Twin operation Groups of up to pups can be created. To do this, the pups ust be hydraulically connected to the sae output and inlet anifolds (naturally, this is not necessary for twin circulation pups). The MCE/C inverters also have to be connected using the special interconnection cable, connecting both inverters to one of the connectors arked Link. For the twin syste to operate correctly, all the external connections of the input terinal board ust be parallel connected between the MCE/C units, with the nubers of the individual pins corresponding (e.g. pin 17 of MCE-/C-1 to pin 17 of MCE-/C- and so on)..1 - Soware settings When a twin syste is used, one of the 3 possible twin operating odes ust be set on page 7. of the enu: Alternating every h: The inverters take turns in perforing the control function, alternating every operating hours. If either inverter fails, the other takes over control of the syste. Siultaneous: the inverters operate siultaneously at the sae speed. This ode is useful when the syste requires a flow rate which a single pup is unable to deliver. Main/Standby: The control function is always provided by the sae inverter (Main), while the other (Standby) only coes into operation if the Main one fails. If the twin counication cable is disconnected, the systes autoatically set as Single and operate independently of each other. Single-phase electric connection diagra (up to MCE-/C).1 - Connection of the power line The connection between the MCE-/C and the single-phase power supply line ust be ade with a 3-wire cable (live + neutral + ground). 26 Twin operation Groups of up to pups can be created. The rotation speed varies on a linear scale between the rated frequency of the pup when Vin = 1V and the iniu frequency when Vin = V. This ode can be set using the control panel on the cover of the MCE. DAB UMS reserves the right to ake odifications without notice.

45 Twin operation Groups of up to pups can be created. 73 CONSTRUCTION FEATURES ELECTRICAL SECTION: MCE/C INVERTER The new MCE/C inverters are the latest ilestone in DAB inverter design. 71
74 3 Input and Output Electrical Connections The MCE/C has digital inputs, one analogue input and digital outputs, allowing a nuber of interface solutions to be created with ore coplex installations Digital Inputs The screen-printed key to the digital inputs is provided on the base of the 1 pin terinal board: V l l1/l l1-1 - GND The inputs can be excited in both direct and alternating current. The electrical characteristics of the inputs are illustrated below. 76 Twin operation Groups of up to pups can be created. The input terinals are arked LINE LN with an arrow pointing into the terinals, see Figure 1 7 DAB UMS reserves the right to ake odifications without notice.
77 Figure 1: Electrical connections The input and output cables ust be large enough to allow the cable claps to grip the effectively, while the axiu peritted gauge on the terinals is. The electric pup supply current is generally specified on the otor dataplate. Generally, the axiu power supply current of the MCE-/C can be estiated as twice the axiu current absorption of the pup. Although the MCE-/C has its own internal protection devices, an overload cutout of suitable rating should also be installed.. - Three-phase connection diagra (MCE-3/C and MCE-/C).3 - Connection of the power line The connection between the MCE-3/C and MCE-/C and the three-phase power supply line ust be ade with a -wire cable (3 phases + ground). The input and output cable outside diaeter which will allow the cable claps to secure the correctly varies fro a iniu of 11 up to a axiu of 17. The electric pup supply current is generally specified on the otor dataplate. Generally, the power supply current of the MCE-/C can be estiated as 1/ greater than the axiu current absorption of the pup (with a safety argin).
