2 2 Research interests Prof. Pattiaratchi's research interests are in coastal oceanography and encompass physical processes and their influence on geological, climate and biological processes in the continental shelf region, the nearshore (beach) zone and estuaries based on field experiments and numerical modelling. In particular, the circulation and mixing processes on the continental shelf, coastal and estuarine regions; sea level variability; dynamics of island wakes and headland eddies; remote-sensing applications; dispersion from outfalls; estuarine circulation and dynamics; nearshore processes and sediment transport; effects of climate change in the coastal ocean.
