Our Services SURVEYING & MAPPING We provide surveying and mapping services for a number of industries and projects including both land and offshore projects. With more than 10 years of experience in the challenging environment of Maldives, our surveying services cover a wide range of applications. Engineering & Constructions Surveying Engineering & Constructions Surveying Services are specifically designed for the construction industry. These services are required in multiple stages of construction in projects such as resort development; harbor & marina construction; multi story building development; housing developments; dredging and reclamation; offshore breakwater / coastal infrastructure construction and road construction among others. Land Surveying Land surveying is a crucial element in our work. Today most of the Primary Control Networks are established using GNSS ( GPS+ GLONAS). Water Solutions is fully equipped with the latest survey Leica GNSS instruments and post processing software and can carry out all aspect of GNSS surveying. We can collect precise static base-station observations to provide fully adjusted co-ordinated solutions for large scale mapping and major projects as well as undertake real-time detailed surveys or setting-out. Our portfolio of land surveying services include Topographic Surveying As-Built Survey Geodetic Control Survey Cadastral Survey Land Registration Utility Survey Building Surveying
There is a saying in surveying that The controls are good as its monuments. when we establish a survey control on a site, we make our mark on it. Remote Sensing & GIS Contractor Support Water Solutions is proud to introduce this new service to contractors requiring support in managing their surveying task in their projects. This would be a valuable asset for large contracting companies, whereby we will be undertaking all their surveying task, giving them more ease and flexibility in managing their project and maintaining higher accuracy in surveying. Whether its a task on land or offshore, we can provide this service throughout the life cycle of a project. Remote Sensing and GIS are vital tools used for planning and designing of any project of any magnitude. Remote Sensing data is an economic option compared with other methods of data collection. Use of GIS data is virtually limitless and with one of the most advanced and updated GIS database in the Maldives, we can provide instant data on a number of parameters for islands, atolls, reefs and beaches. Hydrographic Surveying Hydrographic surveys form a crucial element for most developments in the Maldives. This includes single beam echo sounder bathymetry and multibeam bathymetry survey to support engineering and construction projects, Side scan sonar surveys for detailed seabed mapping and the location and identification of man-made objects such as debris, shipwrecks and other related projects. Photo; Geodetic control survey being undertaken in Male, capital of Maldives
MUltibeam Surveying We are the first company in Maldives to offer the multibeam surveying service What Is Multibeam? Multi-beam echo sounders are used to gather detailed information about the features on the seabed by measuring multiple depths from a single transducer array at high resolution. Carrying out a multibeam survey mission requires the integration of several components. In addition to the multibeam echo sounder, tightly coupled inertial navigation systems, a sound velocity profiler and a sound velocity meter are required with all the sensors needing a portable power source. Why do we need Multibeam Survey? It has many added advantages over the single beam alternative. Higher resolution data meeting IHO specification, time efficiency, less error, additional data such as snippets and water column can be collected. Sea bed classification and type can be determined using backscatter data. Our transducer, the Teledyne Odom Hydrographic MB2 itself has its own unique features like its real time roll stabilization feature, which minimizes the effect on the accuracy of the data caused by the waves hitting the vessel. The Applanix POSMV Wavemaster II positioning system is able to maintain a high level of positioning accuracy under the most demanding conditions, regardless of vessel dynamics. The MB2 can sound to a depth of 200m. It is ideally suited for shallow water surveying and it is able to sound a swath of up to 140. 7 Multi-beam echo sounders are used in almost every branch of hydrographic surveying, with each branch using the multibeam for a different purpose. Main applications for multibeam Dredging & Reclamation Harbour, Ports & Marina Development New Island Developments on shallow reefs Scientific & Acamdeimic Research Search & Rescue Applications Shipwrecks & Dive Site Mapping Shipping & Navigation Coastal Engineering Environmental Monitoring Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Cable & Route Surveys Hydrography Photo; Multibeam survey of shipwreck
Our Services environmental services A broad range of services are provided under the Environmental Services. This includes environmental baseline surveys for new developments; environmental architectural advice to architects for integrating the local environment into the designs; environmental impact assessment (EIA) studies; environmental audits; environmental advise including coastal management; erosion management, environmental and technical feasibility studies and a number of other related services for development projects in small islands. artificial reefs Designing and developing artificial reefs involves sustainable and environmental friendly methods to help coral reefs attain a healthy status. Selected areas of the coral reef are rehabilitated using a number of sustainable methodologies to grow and regenerate corals. Growing under favorable conditions, these corals enjoy a high survival rate and areas of the reef that are lacking in colour and marine life are restored. environmental impact assessment EIA Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a regulatory requirement for all the development projects. Any project with a potential to have an impact on the environment is required to undertake an EIA study prior to the approval of the project. This process is regulated and managed by Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Tourism. We have some of the most experienced consultants in EIA with more than 10 years experience in the field.
small islands pose specific environmental threats and challenges that even the best architects & engineers in the world may not be familiar with beach management Beach Management is an issue for many islands. Smaller islands are continuously faced with erosion The challenge is to find a solution without disturbing the natural setting of an island environament. Our team of experts rely on latest scientific equipments, continuous monitoring and the combination of knowledge to develop solutions that will protect and preserve the islands beaches. Managing the beach is essential for every resort island but requires technical experience, expertise and continuous monitoring. environmental advise The unique geography of Maldives pose challenges for engineers and architects who are not familiar with the fragile environment of our small islands. As environmental advise is a crucial element throughout the life cycle of any project, our services are geared towards helping clients to ensure that development is carried out integrating into the natural environment. environmental architecture Architecture in a small island needs to be balanced both visually and environmentally. Environmental architecture is focused on integrating natural environment into the development concept. Even the most experienced architects lack this knowledge of integrating the small island environments. This is the purpose of this service. other services We also offer a number of other environmental related services and includes the following: Environmental audits; training and capacity building; stakeholder consultations; environmental and surveying training for working professionals, environmental monitoring and drone photography among others. 12 Case Studies Oceanographic Data Collection M.Muli / Sh.Funadhoo / B.Eydhafushi EIA & Coastal Protection Jumeirah Vittaveli, K.Bolifushi An experienced team of divers including inhouse divers installed the current meter (ADCP) in 3 regions. Despite the strong currents, a 40kg custom tripod support base for the ADCP was succesfully installed at a depth of 18m and data collected for 24 hours during 2 moon cycles. All equipments, including diving gears, were transported to the field on a sea vessel and installed by Water Solutions staff. The island of Bolifushi, a two hectare island on an isolated reef in South Male atoll, was reclaimed to increase the area to 10 hectare. The project was a challenge as the client wanted a stabilize the shoreline with minimum coastal protection around the island. Regular monitoring was carried out during the reclamation phase to design the coastal engineering of the coastal structures to create a natural beach for the island.
Topographic Survey Addu City Environmental Monitoring St.Riges, Dh.Vommuli The objective of this project was to collect data for the Second National Communication report to the climate change convention. This involved delivering an elevation model of the islands of Addu city, namely Feydhoo, Maradhoo-feydhoo, Maradhoo and Hithadhoo. This stretch of islands is nearly 15km in length. The field data collection was completed using GNSS surveying method. The project involves understanding the movement of the beach around the island during consruction phase in order to help the resort operator to maintain and manage the beach in a sustainable manner. Data collection is carried out on a monthly basis using drones, gps and visual photos to complete a snapshot at each given interval. The property is expected to be open in 2016.
