Schultz (co PI) was to build a conceptual model linking tropopause folds and tropopause level cyclonic anomalies to the occurrence of deep convection, that may be used by operational meteorologists to improve weather forecasts. During the TROSIAD project I was involved in the measurements campaigns (i.e., radiosonde launches from Capel Dewi, Wales) and analysis of the measurements. project webpage 1

2 Research Meteorologist Severe Weather Forecasting Laboratory Jan 2006 Nov 2010 I was a part of a team that developed and implemented short range weather forecasting techniques. I have also managed the Romanian National Lightning Detection Network. Short Range Weather Forecaster National Weather Forecasting Center Apr 2004 Dec 2006 I was responsible for short range forecasting of severe convective storms over southern Romania. I have also made the first-ever verified tornado forecast for Romania. AWARDS SET for Britain Poster Exhibition British Parlament, Portcullis House, Westminster Mar 2015 I was selected for SET for Britain, a poster competition and exhibition in the House of Commons with aim of supporting and promoting Britain's early-stage and early-career research scientists. I have presented a poster on my work with Prof. David M. Schultz on tornado risk in Europe. Best Poster at the Postgraduate Research Conference University of Manchester Dec 2014 I have received the best poster award for my work on the climatology of tornadoes in Europe. Award Sep 2005 I have received the annual award of the Romanian National Meteorological Administration for my research on forecasting the initiation of the cloud-to-ground activity of convective storms. Nicolae Beşleagᾰ Award Oct 2004 I have received the best oral presentation award by a young researcher for my research on short range forecasting techniques for southern Romania. GRANTS AWARDED Research Fellowship AXA Research Fund Jan 2014 Dec 2015 I have been awarded an 120,000 AXA Research Fund grant for my research on Assessing the threat of severe convective storms across Europe (supervised by Prof. David M. Schultz). 2
