2 FEBRUARY WELCOME 13-16, 2017 FROM THE MACO PRESIDENT BILL BARRON MACO PRESIDENT GREETINGS FROM YOUR PRESIDENT: On behalf of MACo, I would like to extend a warm welcome to your 2018 Midwinter conference! We have great conferences because of all our great supporters; Commissioners, Elected Officials, O.E.M. Coordinators, Presenters, Vendors and Staff! As you attend your committee meetings and General Sessions I would like you to thank MACo s staff members. Without them these conferences wouldn t be close to what they are. They are responsible for 90% of what takes place and I truly appreciate all you do! Thank You! As you attend your committee meetings to discuss the issues and listen to presenters, please, do not be afraid to ask questions and get involved. This is how we function and I guarantee If you have a question there are others in the room with the same question! Your committees are essential to guiding us into the future. They bring forth resolutions that develop into legislative bills and hopefully become laws that we work under. We need to be the lead in this process! D.E.S. has become a very important part of county strategies that guide us through many types of disasters. When things go bad we can t wait for the state or federal governments take care of us. Your initial response will be the positive actions our residence need and expect. We have scheduled our sessions with D.E.S. in a manner that allows you to take maximum advantage of the trainings and discussions. Again, this will be a great conference! Every session has information that benefits your counties. Make sure to visit the Vendor booths, see what they have to offer and thank them for their continued support. A big thank you to Yellowstone County for their hospitality. Let s try to help their tax base while we re here. William D. Barron i
