The Sooners and the Matadors will play again on Monday at 2 p.m. CT. u All five games at the Easton Invitational will be streamed via FloSoftball for a fee. Additionally, all six contests this weekend will be available on air through KEBC 1560 AM in Norman or online via the Franchise 2. HOT START u With a 19-2 record this season, the Sooners are off to their best start through 21 games since 2013, when OU opened the year The 2013 squad went on to finish 57-4 and claim the program s second national championship. u Oklahoma has outscored its opponents this season. The Sooners have blanked their opponents in over half their games, 11 total times, marking the fastest an OU team has reached 11 shutouts since the 2013 team did so in 16 games. Additionally, the Sooners have earned seven run-rule wins in LAST TIME OUT No. 17/18 Ohio State (17-2, 0-0 Big Ten) BUCKEYES u The Sooners were undefeated through five games at the OG&E Tournament in Norman, taking down Indiana once and Illinois State and then-no. 18/17 South Carolina twice each. u The tournament marked the conclusion of a season-long 10-game homestand for the Sooners. The perfect weekend secured a 10-0 start at home for the Sooners and extended its home winning streak to 14 games, dating back to u On Friday, OU took down ISU 9-0 in five innings before defeating Indiana 9-3. Against the Redbirds, OU scored seven runs in the bottom of the first, marking the most runs in an inning this season by the Sooners. In the second game of the day, the Hoosiers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Sooners responded with three runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Jocelyn Alo's go-ahead two-run home run. OU added five runs in the fourth and another in the sixth to secure the victory. u Senior Nicole Pendley s first-inning grand slam proved the difference maker in OU s 4-2 win over South Carolina on Saturday night. It was Pendley s fourth career grand slam and her fourth homer of the season. u The Sooners secured a perfect weekend with a 5-1 win over South Carolina and an 8-0 win over Illinois State in six innings on Sunday. Although the Gamecocks got on the board first with a solo home run, the Sooners responded with a five-run third inning to claim their third win over a ranked opponent this season. In the next contest, pitcher Parker Conrad earned her first win as a Sooner, tossing a one hitter and retiring 18 of 20 batters she faced over six innings as the Sooners run-ruled the Redbirds. The two programs last met in a double header in March 2010 as CSUN won the first contest 1-0 before the Sooners claimed the second 4-1 in eight innings. In 2017, the Matadors went 31-22, including an mark in conference play. This season, CSUN stands at and is currently on a six-game losing streak after dropping four contests at the CSUN Tournament on March 9-11 and two midweek games on Wednesday. u The Sooners hold an 11-6 advantage over DePaul in all-time meetings. Most recently, the Sooners shut out the Blue Devils 6-0 at the LMU Tournament in March Last year, the Blue Devils finished with a Big East title and a NCAA Regional appearance. DePaul is 16-7 in 2018, most recently going 2-2 at the Rebel Classic in Las Vegas. u OU trails former Big 12 member Nebraska in series history. The Sooners and Huskers last met at the 2017 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge as OU won 6-0. Currently ranked No. 17/18, Ohio State has started the 2018 season u Oklahoma enters Sunday s game against Cal State Fullerton trailing the Titans 5-11 in all-time meetings. In the last game between the two programs in March 2016, Fullerton claimed a 7-5 win. The Titans finished 2017 with a record, going 16-5 in Big West play, as their season ended at NCAA Regionals. PARKER JOINS 100-WIN CLUB u With a five-inning shutout in the March 7 game against Saint Francis, senior left-handed pitcher Paige Parker claimed her 100th career win in the circle. u Parker, who is now at 102 career victories, sits third all-time in program history, joining Kami Keiter (101 wins, ), Jennifer Stewart (115 wins, ) and Keilani Ricketts (133 wins, ) as the only Sooners to reach 100 wins. u Parker's 102 career wins leads all active Division I pitchers. Texas State's Randi Rupp holds 92, Oklahoma State's Emmie Robertson has 85, Furman's Lindsey Bert owns 72 and Alabama's Alexis Osorio has 69. u Among active Big 12 member teams, eight pitchers have reached the century-mark in wins in Parker, Keiter, Kansas Stephani Williams (105 wins, ), Texas Blaire Luna (112 wins, ), Stewart, Baylor s Whitney Canion (123 wins, ), Ricketts and Texas Cat Osterman (136 wins, ). u Additionally, Parker registered 25 strikeouts over three games last week, bringing her career total to 826 Ks. She moved to second all-time in program history, trailing only Ricketts, who registered 1,605 strikeouts in her career. Parker also ranks fourth among active DI pitchers, behind Rupp (1,090 Ks), Osorio (927 Ks) and Robertson (892 Ks). u After recording her second shutout and third complete game of the season, Parker s 73 career complete games rank sixth and her 31 career shutouts are seventh most in school history. She sits fifth among active pitchers in complete games trailing Bert (91), Rupp (87), Robertson (84) and North Dakota State s Jacquelyn Sertic (80) and second in shutouts behind Rupp (35). NATIONALLY RANKED OFFENSE u Oklahoma has started the season with strong performances at the plate. The team s on-base percentage (.440) and slugging percentage (.561) all rank second in the Big 12 while its batting average (.345) ranks third. Additionally, OU is ranked nationally sixth in on-base percentage, ninth in batting average and 11th in slugging percentage. u Junior Sydney Romero is third in the conference in batting average, hitting.508 (31-for-61) so far this season, which is also good for ninth nationally. Freshman Jocelyn Alo is ranked second in the Big 12 in home runs per game (0.43) and home runs (nine), which rank eighth and ninth, respectively, in the nation. Alo s slugging percentage (1.000) is also ranked nationally, coming it at No. 6, while ranking second in the Big 12.

The Hauula, Hawaii, native leads OU in slugging percentage (1.022), home runs (nine), RBI (23) and on-base percentage (.568). u In the conference, Alo ranks second in home runs per game (0.43), homers and slugging percentage and third in on-base percentage. Nationally, Alo is sixth in slugging percentage, eighth in home runs per game, ninth in home runs and 19th in on-base percentage. PITCH PERFECT u The Oklahoma pitching staff has returned in full force in Through 21 games, the Sooners have a combined ERA of 0.78, ranked first in the Big 12 and fourth in the nation. u Senior lefty duo Paige Lowary (2-1) and Paige Parker (10-1) are ranked second and third in the conference with ERAs of 0.26 through 27.0 innings and 0.52 through 54.1 innings, respectively. OU hosts the Red Raiders on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT, on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT and on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. u Friday s contest is scheduled to be streamed through SoonerSports.tv while the Saturday and Sunday games will be broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports Central. All games can be heard on air through KEBC 1560 AM in Norman or online through the Franchise 2, and general admission tickets for all three games are available. u In all-time meetings, OU holds a 53-7 advantage over Texas Tech, including a 24-4 mark in Norman. RUN IN POLLS CONTINUES u After going 6-0 last week, OU remained at No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Coaches Poll and moved up one spot to No. 5 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. Oklahoma is the only program to be ranked every week of the NFCA poll, a run of 343 straight polls. u The Sooners opened their 2018 campaign as the preseason favorite in both the NFCA and USA Softball preseason polls, marking the second straight year that OU is ranked No. 1 in both. Prior to last year, OU had never entered a season with the top ranking in either poll. The Sooners also remained in the top spot in both polls after week one. u This marks the eighth straight year the Sooners have started in the NFCA s top 10, good for the nation s longest active streak. u Oklahoma also entered its 2018 campaign as the preseason pick to win the Big 12, as each of the other six head coaches placed the Sooners in the top spot (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams). u This is the sixth straight year and ninth in the last 10 that OU has topped the Big 12 s preseason poll. OU received 36 points in this year s poll and was followed by Baylor, which received the other first-place vote, at 31 points, Texas (24 points), Oklahoma State (23 points), Kansas (12 points), Iowa State (11 points) and Texas Tech (10 points). HOME SLATE BEGINS 4-0 AT COURTYARD MARRIOTT TOURNAMENT u Oklahoma was dominant in its opening weekend of home games, outscoring opponents 31-1 over four contests at the Courtyard Marriott Tournament March 2-4. On Friday, OU downed Missouri State 6-0, before earning two run-rule victories on Saturday, taking down Abilene Christian 8-0 and Missouri State 9-0, both in five innings. The Sooners closed the weekend with an 8-1 win over ACU. u Overall, the team hit.414 on the weekend. Junior Sydney Romero led the way, finishing the weekend 7-for-10 (.700), while freshman Jocelyn Alo was 6-for-10 (.600) with seven RBI and three home runs. She led the team in slugging percentage (1.500), while Nicole Pendley, who also drove in seven runs on the weekend, was close behind with a slugging percentage of u Pitchers Paige Parker, Paige Lowary, Mariah Lopez, Parker Conrad and Melanie Olmos all made appearances in the circle at the tournament. Parker led the way with two wins in two starts, allowing two hits and no runs with 11 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. Lowary made four appearances, all in relief, and totaled three hits and six strikeouts over 6.0 innings to earn one win. Lopez claimed the other win on the weekend, starting against ACU on Saturday, allowing two hits and no runs over 4.1 innings with four strikeouts. Conrad threw 3.1 innings in relief, registering three strikeouts, including striking out the side in the final inning of the weekend to seal OU s win. Olmos made her first career start against ACU on Sunday, recording a career-high four strikeouts in 2.2 innings. BACK IN FORCE u The Sooners lost just one letterwinner from their 2017 national championship squad, returning 16 in OU will return seven position starters in senior infielder Kelsey Arnold, senior outfielder Nicole Pendley, senior catcher Lea Wodach, junior infielders Caleigh Clifton, Shay Knighten and Sydney Romero and sophomore utility player Nicole Mendes as well as all three primary pitchers from 2017 in seniors Paige Lowary and Paige Parker and sophomore Mariah Lopez. u All three of Oklahoma's 2017 All-Americans return in 2018, as Clifton, Knighten and Parker were all recognized as NFCA Second-Team All-Americans last season. u Additionally, the Sooners return all nine of their 2017 All-Big 12 honorees. Returning first-team All-Big 12 selections are Knighten, Lowary, Mendes (unanimous pick) and Parker. Returning second-team All-Big 12 honorees are junior outfielder Falepolima Aviu, Clifton, Pendley and Romero. Mendes and Lopez were members of the 2017 Big 12 All-Freshman Team. Knighten was named 2017 Big 12 Player of the Year, Parker was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year for the third time, and Patty Gasso was named Big 12 Coach of the Year for the 10th time. 8 2018 OKLAHOMA SOFTBALL 8 Having recently completed her 23rd season at the University of Oklahoma, NFCA Hall of Fame head coach Patty Gasso has molded the OU softball program into a national power and permanently placed herself among the elite college softball coaches in the country. Oklahoma has won four national championships, winning in 2000, 2013, 2016 and OU is one of just three programs in NCAA history to win more than two national titles. She s reached the Women s College World Series 11 times during her tenure, and in the process, advanced to the postseason in each of her 23 seasons. With 27 seasons as a head coach to her name, Gasso has a career collegiate coaching record of 1, (.774) and holds an overall record of 1, (.781) at the University of Oklahoma. Needing only 1,300 games to get there, Gasso became the second fastest to reach 1,000 wins in NCAA Division I history during the 2015 season. She has won more Big 12 games (307-85) than any coach in the league s history and has twice as many wins as any other coach in OU history. Gasso s Sooner teams have finished second or higher 18 different times since the inception of the Big 12 in They have won over 78 percent of their Big 12 contests, and OU has claimed 20 Big 12 regular season and five championship titles under her direction. Keilani Ricketts was the two-time USA Softball National Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013, becoming just the third player in history to win more than once. Gasso has also directed 53 All-Americans, 118 All-Region honorees and 144 all-conference selections. In the Big 12 era, nine Sooners have been named Big 12 Player of the Year a total of 11 times, five have been selected as Big 12 Freshman of the Year, three as Big 12 Pitcher of the Year four times and one as Big 12 Newcomer. In 2010, Amber Flores became the first player in league history to earn Player of the Year honors twice, while Shelby Pendley joined her in winning the award twice in 2013 and The OU softball success under Gasso has also spilled over into the classroom where the Sooners have been honored with 121 academic all-conference honors, including a program-record nine in Eleven of those have gone on to become Academic All- Americans, including Lana Moran, the 2000 Academic All-American of the Year.
