Wisconsin (21-31 overall, 5-17 Big Ten) won two-of-three behind a huge performance from freshman Kelsey Jenkins. u Jenkins entered Saturday s game against Rutgers with three home runs in 50 games played. She doubled her home-run total with three round-trippers, tying a school record, to power the Badgers to a 4-1 win over the Scarlet Knights. u Wisconsin snapped its seven-game losing streak on Friday with a dominant 5-1 win over Rutgers on Friday afternoon, marking the 20th win of the season. Senior Marissa Mersch left her mark in the Wisconsin record books as she stole the team s 115th base on the year, breaking the school s single season stolen base record set in The previous mark of 114 was set in the 2014 season. Freshman Kelsey Jenkins also set a new freshmen record for stolen bases in a single season with 18, passing senior Maria Van Abel s previous mark of 17. u UW dropped a close contest to Rutgers on Sunday afternoon, as the Scarlet Knights hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Badgers, 3-2. u With this weekend s 2-1 series win, Wisconsin s senior class - Tancill, Marissa Mersch and Maria Van Abel - finished as the second-winningest class in school history with a win percentage of.619. The trio won 135 games for UW, including 47 Big Ten wins. u Senior Maria Van Abel s 30 stolen bases this season give her a career total of 82 stolen bases. With the 83 swipes, Van Abel closed out her career second place alltime at UW for career stolen bases. She is only behind Jennifer Krueger ( ) who set the record with 98 career stolen bases. u Freshman Kelsey Jenkins set the UW single-season record for freshmen and all players with her 42 walks this season BADGERS No. Player Pos. In addition, her 30 stolen bases in a single season ranks second in UW s single season stolen base records. u Van Abel held the highest batting average on the team (.377), the most hits (66) and the most runs scored (44). Her.377 batting average ranks 13th in the Big Ten conference and 66 hits ranks eighth. u Tancill and Van Abel led the Badgers with five sac bunts each, which ranks ninth in the Big Ten. u Tancill led the team and is tied for fifth in the Big Ten with three triples on the season. She also led the Badgers with 87 assists this season. u Mersch finished second on the team with 73 total bases. She also finished second for UW with 59 hits and 22 stolen bases on the season. u Mersch, Van Abel and Tancill started and played in all 52 games. WHAT A SEASON! u Wisconsin set several all-time UW team records this season, including the highest on base percentage of all-time for the Badgers at.389. UW also earned the most walks, setting a new school season record with 176, and snatched the most stolen bases with 118. u The Badgers season batting average of.296 was the second best all-time, while their stolen base percentage of.825 ranks second all-time. u This season saw the fourth most all-time runs and hits, with 245 runs and 403 hits. UW tallied 56 doubles which ranks sixth all-time and 10 triples which comes in at fifth in the UW history books. 3 HISTORY: HOME RUN X3 u Kelsey Jenkins' three home runs in UW's game at Rutgers on Saturday, May 2, tied the all-time record for most home runs in one game by an individual at UW. Only two players had record three bombs in one game previously, Mary Massei (2012) and Michelle Mueller (2014). u Three homers in one game has only happend 15 times all-time by Big Ten schools. Wisconsin and Michigan are tied for the most with three each. The Badgers three home run performances have all come in the last three years (Massei in 2012, Mueller in 2014 and Jenkins in 2015). KJ FOR MVP! u Freshman Kelsey Jenkins broke the record for single season walks as a freshman. She recorded 42 and the previous record was 21 set in 2000 by Anna Jones. Her 42 walks also set the single-season records for all players, as she passed Stephanie Peace, who set the record with 35 walks in the 2013 season. She ranks third among all conference players for walks. u Jenkins finished on stolen bases for the year. She was one of six players (and the only freshman) to have started and played in all 52 games. GREEN BAY LEFTOVERS u In game one, the Badgers outhit the Green Bay 14-5 with seven Badgers connecting. Sophomore Chloe Miller and freshman Kelsey Jenkins led the way with three each, which tied a season high for Jenkins. Miller and junior Ashley Van Zeeland each notched a game-high two RBIs, while senior Megan Tancill and junior Stefanni LaJeunesse each recorded one RBI. u Freshman Mariah Watts tallied four strikeouts in seven innings pitched and allowed two runs and five hits. With the win, she moves to 7-6 on the season. Jenkins led the way with a career-high three RBI and Wisconsin tallied 15 hits to Green Bay s 14. The Phoenix committed four errors, while the Badgers tallied two miscues. M&M GIRLS u Seniors Maria Van Abel and Marissa Mersch lead the way for the Badgers in multihit games. Van Abel leads the team with five three three-hit games and 20 multihit games overall, while Mersch leads the Badgers with 14 two-hit games and ranks second with 16 total. TERRIFIC TRIO u Three Badgers batted over.500 in the weekend series against Iowa (April 10-12). Freshman Kelsey Jenkins (.571), Ashley Van Zeeland (.556) and Megan Tancill (.500) combined for 13 of the Badgers 28 total hits and five of UW s 11 runs. STEWART SAVES THE DAY u Junior Taylor-Paige Stewart hit the first home run of her career as a pinch hitter after pitching a complete game. The solo leadoff bomb tied up the game 4-4 and the Badgers eventually won 5-4. THAT WAS A LONG ONE! u Wisconsin played in its longest game of the season in Sunday s nearly four-hour long contest against Iowa. The game lasted 10 innings long. The Badgers are 3-1 in extra innings games this season. WALK THIS WAY u Wisconsin s 11 walks in the game against Penn State on April 3, 2015 is the second-highest amount of walks in a single game in school history. WALK IT OUT u Freshman Kelsey Jenkins tied a single-game school record with her four walks against the Nittany Lions on April 3, 2015, QUITE A GAME u UW notched a season-high 10 RBI in their victory against PSU. In addition, the Badgers tied for the highest amount of runs in a game with 14 runs scored. COUNT ON MERSCH u Senior Marissa Mersch logged a team season-high four runs against the Nittany Lions on April 3. The four runs in the game were a career high for the Downers Grove, Illinois native. THAT S A FIRST! u Sophomore Nyah Rodman hit the first home run of her career in the Badgers triumph over Penn State on April 3. SEASON-BEST PERFORMANCE u UW had 40 at bats and a season-high 14 runs scored in addition to the 18 hits against Memphis (March 14). UW s nine RBI and 23 totals bases were also season bests. u Wisconsin also tallied 14 runs against Penn State on April 3. The Badgers edged out the Nittany Lions, Marissa Mersch led the way with four runs and Nyah Rodman recorded a team-high three RBI. KAUKAUNA NATIVES KNOW HOW TO SAC BUNT u Kaukauna, Wisconsin, natives junior Ashley Van Zeeland and senior Maria Van Abel both rank in the top 15 in the conference for sacrifice bunts this season. u Van Abel ranks ninth with five sac bunts on the season and Van Zeeland ranks 13th with four sacrifice bunts. CLUTCH CHLOE u Sophomore Chloe Miller led the team in hit by pitch (10), doubles (18) and runs batted in (45). u Her 18 doubles is second best in the conference, while her 10 hit by pitches rings in at eighth in the Big Ten, while u Miller had a big game against Louisiana-Monroe on Feb. 28. She tallied a single game season-high four runs and recorded her second three RBI game of the season. u Miller recorded a team season-high four RBI vs. Seton Hall on March 7 at the USF Under Armour Showcase in Tampa, Florida. WORTH THE SACRIFICE u Wisconsin s five sacrifice hits against UAB at the Islander Invitational on Feb. 14 is a season high amount of hits in a single game amongst all Big Ten schools. STEALING THE SHOW u Wisconsin was successful on 118 out of 143 stolen base attempts this season. Opponents only snatched 41 out of 53 attempts. Twelve Badgers have at least one stolen base this season. u The team s 118 stolen bases in the season ranks first all-time in the UW record books for steals in a single season. Senior Maria Van Abel has passed the singleseason record she set in 2014 with 30 stolen bases. u UW s 2.27 steals per game (118 steals in 52 games) ranks them sixth best nationally. u Wisconsin leads the Big Ten with a game-high of seven steals, which the Badgers tallied vs. South Dakota on Feb. 13. They also lead the conference with 108 total stolen bases and 131 steal attempts. u The Badgers boast four players on the conference s top 20 most stolen bases list. Van Abel (first, 30) is joined by fellow senior Marissa Mersch who ranks fourth (21), while Kelsey Jenkins come in at seventh (18). TANCILL S HELPING HAND u Megan Tancill led the team with 87 fielding assists. The senior has 134 career assists. ALL ABOUT THAT BASE u Freshman Kelsey Jenkins logged the team s longest streak for reaching base after getting on base 20 consecutive times. Sophomore Chloe Miller recorded a reached base streak of 19, wihle senior Marissa Mersch tallied a streak of 18. HIT IT u Senior Maria Van Abel posted the team s longest hitting streak with 12 consecutive hits. STEWART STRIKES u Taylor-Paige Stewart led the Badgers with 124 strikeouts in 33 appearances. Stewart recorded a team season-high 11 strikeouts vs. Valparaiso on April 8 en route to a victory.

5 BIG TEN. BIG NEWS ACROSS THE CONFERENCE u With one week remaining in the Big Ten regular season, Michigan, Minnesota andnebraska are all still alive in the race for the Big Ten Championship. The Wolverines would clinch the outright title with three victories this weekend against Penn State, while two winswould guarantee at least a share. The week also features the chase for berths in the 12-teamBig Ten Tournament, which begins on May 7 in Columbus, Ohio. u According to the latest NCAA So ball RPI rankings released on Monday, three Big Ten teams are rated among the top 40 in the na on, including two in the top 20. Michigan leads the way at No. 5, followed by No. 19 Minnesota. Northwestern is ranked No. 34 and is joined in the top 60 by Nebraska at No. 47 and Ohio State at No. 56. UW had a season-high 11 RBI against Illinois on April 17, HOW DO YOU FIND THE WORD THAT MEANS MARIA? u Senior Maria Van Abel joined the 100 career runs club when she scored two runs against Northwestern on March 28, In the same game, she swiped the 75th stolen base of her career. DISHING IT UP u Senior Marissa Mersch notched 519 at bats for the Cardinal and White in her career. The senior leads the team with 168 appearances at the dish this season. HOT HITS u Senior Megan Tancill knocked in a single for the 50th hit of her career against New Mexico on March 15. The Verona, Wisconsin, native now had 61 career hits and the third-most hits (36) this season. STRIKE IT RICH u Junior Taylor-Paige Stewart struck out seven batters in the series against Penn State to move past the 250 strikeouts mark. She now has 282 career strikeouts in 71 appearances for the Badgers. VAN Z HITS 100 u Junior Ashley Van Zeeland earned the 100th start of her career on April 3 in the Badgers game against Penn State. She now has 115 starts in 135 games played as a Badger. FAB FRESHMEN u Wisconsin freshmen Samantha Arents and Kelsey Jenkins opened up their collegiate campaigns with a bang. Jenkins scored 41 runs, which was second-best for UW. u Jenkins was also second-best on the team with 11 doubles, while Arents ranks third with eight. Jenkins ranked third for stolen bases with 18. u Jenkins started and played in all 52 games. Arents has started in 39 games but appeared in 48 games. FUN FACTS u Junior Taylor-Paige Stewart spent last summer competing with the New Zealand national team in Canada. Her New Zealand squad, who had never beaten Canada before, triumphed over Canada with a 2-1 win to move onto the semifinals for the first time in history. Healy directed the team to the NCAA tournament in back-to-back seasons, which had only been done once before by UW in 2001 and Over the last four years, the team has posted an impressive overall record and conference record in the Big Ten under Healy. Her.658 winning percentage ranks highest in school history. At the end of the 2014 season, the Badgers finished in two final national polls for just the fourth time in the program s 19-year history and the second consecutive year. UW came in at No. 24 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 and received votes in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 for the eighth time in the season. Wisconsin finished the 2014 season at No. 32 in the NCAA Softball Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), after facing nine of the 31 teams who posted a higher RPI ranking. The 2014 season boasted the second-highest win total (36) in school history. The Badgers defeated six ranked opponents and tied with the 1997 team for the most top-25 wins in a season. UW has won four NCAA tournament games over the last two seasons, having won one in the program s first 19 years of existence. For just the second time in program history, the team achieved a pair of NCAA tournament wins matching their run in The Badgers recorded the program s 500th win on April 12 with a 3-2 win over Illinois. On April 26, the Wisconsin softball team tied a school record by winning its 13th consecutive game. They did so in front of 1,371 fans, the second-largest home crowd in school history. For the first time since 1999, UW won the series against Michigan ending it with 6-5 victory in nine innings. The 2014 team produced a record number of six All-Region selections. In the first 18 years of Wisconsin softball, the Badgers had a total of 14 All-Region selections and had nearly half that many with the 2014 NFCA Great Lakes All-Region teams. Chloe Miller became the third freshman in UW history to earn All-Region honors. Healy finished her third season as head coach in 2013 with a program-best 44 wins, including 16 Big Ten victories, the most ever at UW. It was the Badgers third-consecutive 30-win season under Healy, marking the first time ever that UW recorded three straight 30-win seasons. UW capped of its best conference season ever with its first Big Ten tournament title, defeating Northwestern, No. 6 Michigan and Minnesota during its title run. For the first time since 2005, Wisconsin qualified for the NCAA regional where it advanced to its first ever regional title game. The Badgers broke over 30 single-season records, including the school record for runs (283), hits (458) and RBI (247). Mary Massei set new marks in seven individual categories, including batting average (.421), hits (82) and runs (51). Starting with a win against CSU-Bakersfield on March 2 and ending with a loss to Iowa on March 29, Wisconsin won a school-record 13-straight games, besting a previous mark of 11 set earlier in the season. For the first time in program history, UW s pitchers recorded three no-hitters, including a pair of no-no s by Meghan McIntosh. Wisconsin was awarded Big Ten weekly honors five times and saw five athletes earn All-Big Ten honors. Whitney Massey, Cassandra Darrah and Mary Massei were named to Great Lakes All-Region teams. Healy marked her 100th win at Wisconsin with a 12-1 victory over Indiana on April 27, Healy concluded her second season as head coach at Wisconsin in 2012 with a program-best tying 34 wins, including 13 Big Ten victories, the most ever at UW. It was the Badgers second-consecutive 30-win season under Healy, marking the first time since 2002 that UW recorded back-to-back 30-win seasons. Wisconsin s offense set school records with a.300 batting average,.385 on base percentage and.426 slugging percentage. UW recorded more runs (272), doubles (73) and RBI (230) than any other Badger softball team. Whitney Massey set a single-season record and led the Big Ten with 22 doubles, while Maria Van Abel set a freshman singleseason record with 17 stolen bases. The Badgers swept Minnesota and Penn State at Goodman Diamond on their way to a school record 13-game home win streak. Wisconsin also recorded a school-best nine-game win streak from April 3-14.Wisconsin finished the season with a victory over Nebraska. Four times Wisconsin was awarded by the Big Ten with weekly honors, as Cassandra Darrah was named pitcher of the week twice and Molly Spence and Stephanie Peace each earned player of the week honors. In her first season at the helm of the program, Healy led the Badgers to 30 wins for just the sixth time in school history. The team s 10-game win improvement over the 2010 season tied for the second-best in school history. Healy had three players named All-Big Ten. Karla Powell became just the third player in Badger history to be named first-team All-Big Ten and the first since Andrea Kirchberg in Mary Massei earned second team honors and Jennifer Krueger was selected for the third team. Of the Badgers 30 victories in Healy s first season, 15 were comeback wins. Wisconsin also won all 21 games in which it outhit opponents, something no other team in school history had done. The 2011 Badgers tied for the 11th youngest team within the NCAA. Of the 10 teams with a higher percentage, only Pacific (37-19) had a better record than Wisconsin s mark and Nicholls State (25-22) was the only other team with a winning record. Healy s first season with the Badgers produced record results. As a team, the Badgers recorded the most stolen bases in a season with 107, 37 more than the previous record. Jennifer Krueger became Wisconsin s all-team stolen base leader, finishing with 98. Krueger also set the single-season record with 43 stolen bases, which is more than any other player in Wisconsin history has had in their career. Michelle Mueller also set the school s freshman record for the number of stolen bases in a season with 15. On July 24, 2010, Healy became the third coach in UW history. The 2007 Horizon League Coach of the Year, Healy guided the Loyola (Ill.) Ramblers to a top-four conference finish in every season she was at the helm. She has coached four NFCA All-Mideast Region players over the last four seasons, and the team set the single-season school record for batting average (.292) in Healy s team also set single-season Loyola records for stolen bases (116) and home runs (37) in As Healy was winning coach of the year honors in the Horizon League in 2007, the team was capturing the conference title with a 14-5 record. Pitcher Amy Solava was also named the league s pitcher of the year, just the third player in school history to earn the award. Off the field, Healy was instrumental in the team s community service participation. She was a part of numerous campaigns to give back, including the Strike Out Cancer Fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a team canned food drive and the Shamrocks for Kids Campaign. The team was given the 2007 Horizon League Community Outreach Award. In addition, Healy served as a mentor for the Girls in the Game program as well as at the Misericordia Home for Mentally and Physically Challenged. Healy s teams have also excelled in the classroom. The 2010 team was the recipient of the 2010 NCAA Academic Performance Program APR Award, while nine players in her time were named Academic All-District by ESPN the Magazine and 25 were chosen as Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She took over as head coach at Loyola in July of 2004 after spending two seasons as an assistant at her alma mater, DePaul. While with the Blue Demons, Healy coached five All-Americans as the team won the Conference USA title in 2003 and 2004 to make the NCAA tournament. A two time All-American and three-time Academic All-American as a player, Healy ranks second on the DePaul single-season chart with a.424 batting average and is the school s all-time leader with 102 stolen bases. In her senior campaign in 1999, Healy led the Blue Demons to a school-record 54 victories, an NCAA Regional Championship and the College World Series as the team wrapped up the year ranked third in the nation. She earned All-Mideast Region honors on three occasions as well. Prior to her collegiate coaching career, Healy worked for the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox Academy as Director of Marketing. She also served as head softball coach at her alma mater Providence Catholic High School, where she was the salutatorian at her graduation in Healy graduated cum laude and earned her bachelor s degree in marketing and communications from DePaul in 1999 and her master s in secondary education and English from DePaul in She and her husband Shawn will celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary in August. They currently reside in Madison with their two daughters, Grace (6) and Maeve (2).
