7 , 9 9 I eneral description These electrical connectors are designated because the interchangeability and operating characteristics are determined by U.. ilitary pecifications. These specifications are revised from time to time to incorporate performance requirements dictated by design advances and more stringent requirements of allied equipment. The several designations of, 9 and 9 connectors meet different requirements of I 0. These designations and general descriptions are as follows : hell hell constructions include solid back shell () and environmental resistant (, & ). nvironmental resistant connectors provide a moisture barrier and assure a positive seal. hell styles consist of wall type receptacles (00), cable receptacles (0), box receptacles (0), straight plugs (0) and angle plugs (0). hell hardware is manufactured from aluminium alloy and cadmium plated with olive drab chromate finish. This finish has excellent conductivity; it is nonreflecting and corrosion resistant. lack anodised finish and cadmiumfree zinc plating with olive drab chromate finish are also available. or details, contact factory. ontacts in and socket contacts are of brass and generally silver plated. old plating is also available. or details contact factory. These contacts are available for solder or crimp termination. pecial arrangements of contacts for premating and preearth are also available. 9 , 9 9 I Insert orientations To avoid crossplugging problems in applications requiring the use of more than one connector of the same size and arrangement, alternate insert rotations are available as indicated in the accompanying chart. s shown in the daigram below, the front face of the pin insert is rotated within the shell in a clockwise direction from the normal shell key. The socket insert would be rotated counterclockwise the same number of degrees with respect to the normal shell key.
