3 UMaT Basic Statistics Introduction The rationale behind this brochure is to make known to policy makers, researchers and the general public, statistical data on the University of Mines and Technology, UMaT, Tarkwa. The data has been presented in the form of tables and graphs. The data has been categorized into four areas, namely: Statistical Data on Students, Statistical Data on Staff, Library Facilities and Major Projects under construction. The first category captures data on application for admission, applicants qualified for admission, admission offered and new entrants, all by gender and faculty. Also in this category are data on student enrolment, fee paying students, students accommodation and graduate output; these are also classified by gender, department (where applicable) and faculty. The second category looks at full-time and part-time staff, age distributions and ranks of academic staff by gender and faculty, as well as non-teaching staff in the departments, central administration and supporting units. These are also classified by gender and faculty. The third and fourth categories present information on library facilities and services available in the library. In addition to these, major projects and supporting units, grouped by gender and faculty are provided. For further enquires, comments and suggestions about this booklet, please contact the Planning and Quality Assurance Unit (PQAU) of the University. 22 nd July, 2017
