4 *Monkeys live in high trees, they can hold on trees with their tails and grab food with GRASSLAND: is an open environment that is covered with grass. *Few trees live there because its hard for large animals to hide. *Elephants that live in grassland travel in groups to stay safe. *Cheetahs stay safe because they are fastest animals on land. *The colors of gazelles help them hide from the cheetahs; they can't see the gazelles in the grass. TUNDRA : is a cold, snowy environment. Plants do not grow very tall,and they grow close together which helps protect them from the very cold temperatures.

5 *Animals in Tundra environments have thick fur to keep them warm. *These animals have fur that change with the seasons. In spring,new brown fur grows to help them hide in the summer. In fall,white fur grows to help them hide in winter. *Some animals travel from place to place to find plants to eat such as the Caribou. OCEAN : is a large body of salt water. Most animals and plants live in the top layer of the ocean, so plants can get sunlight they need and animals can find food. Ocean animals stay safe in many ways: *Some fish change colors to help them hide *Others swim fast to hide in small cracks. *A jellyfish stings other animals that come to close to it. *Fish have scales to protect their bodies. *A shark's sharp teeth helps it catch food,and its scales and body shape helps it swim quickly. *An octopus has 8 long arms to catch food.

6 *POND : is a small fresh water environment. *Water lilies may grow on the surface of the pond to get the sunlight they need. *Beavers have webbed feet to help them swim.they also have sharp teeth to cut down trees to build their homes. *Water striders can walk on the surface of a pond without sinking.
