1 9 May 17, page 1 of 9 52 Malingap St., Sikatuna Village, Quezon City Website: Tel: , Fax: First Quarter 17 Social Weather Survey: Net trust in Leni Robredo a Good + Social Weather Stations The First Quarter 17 Social Weather Survey, done on March 25-28, 17, found 55% of adult Filipinos with much trust, % undecided, and 25% with little trust in Vice-President Leni Robredo. This gives a net trust rating of + (% much trust minus % little trust), classified by SWS as good [Chart 1, Table 1]. This is points below the good +45 (% much trust, 18% little trust) in December. Vice-Pres. Robredo's net trust rating was a moderate +29 in December. It rose to good levels from January to May, ranging from + to +45. It reached very good levels of +63 in June and +58 in September, before returning to good levels of +45 in December and + in March 17. The SWS terminology for Net Trust Ratings: + and above, "excellent"; + to +69, "very good"; + to +49, "good"; + to +29, "moderate", +9 to -9, "neutral"; - to -29, "poor"; - to -49, "bad"; - to -69, "very bad"; - and below, "execrable". Relation of trust and satisfaction ratings The SWS survey question on trust rating is different from satisfaction rating as the former gauges public trust in a personality as a whole, while the latter asks about public satisfaction with an individual's performance related to his/her position or duty. Public satisfaction with the performance of Leni Robredo as Vice-President was higher among those with much trust in her. It was a very good +64 (75% satisfied, 11% dissatisfied) among those with much trust in her, compared to the moderate + (41% satisfied, 22% dissatisfied) among those who were undecided, and the very bad -51 (17% satisfied, 68% dissatisfied) among those with little trust in her [Chart 2]. Good in Visayas and Balance Luzon; Moderate in Metro Manila and Mindanao The -point decline in Vice-Pres. Robredo's overall net trust rating between December and March 17 was due to the declines of points in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon and Visayas, and 32 points in Mindanao. Vice-Pres. Robredo's net trust rating stayed very good in the Visayas, although down by points from + (66% much trust, 17% little trust, correctly rounded) in December to +40 (59% much trust, % little trust) in March 17 [Chart 3]. It stayed very good in Balance Luzon, although down by points from +43 (% much trust, % little trust) in December to +33 (57% much trust, 24% little trust) in March. However, it fell by one grade from good to moderate in Metro Manila, down by points from + (55% much trust, 25% little trust) in December to + (51% much trust, 31% little trust) in March. It fell by two grades from very good to moderate in Mindanao, down by 32 points from +52 (65% much trust, 13% little trust) in December to + (48% much trust, 28% little trust) in March. Moderate in both urban and rural areas Vice-Pres. Robredo's net trust rating fell by one grade from good to moderate in urban areas, down by 24 points from +47 (64% much trust, 17% little trust) in December to +23 (52% much trust, 29% little trust) in March 17 [Chart 4]. It also fell by one grade from good to moderate in rural areas, down by 7 points from +42 (61% much trust, % little trust) in December to +35 (58% much trust, 22% little trust, correctly rounded) in March. Good in class E; Moderate in classes ABC and D Vice-Pres. Robredo's net trust rating stayed moderate in class ABC, although down by 8 points from +27 (57% much trust, 29% little trust, correctly rounded) in December to + (52% much trust, 34% little trust) in March 17 [Chart 5]. However, it fell by one grade from very good to good in class E, down by 8 points from +54 (67% much trust, 12% little trust, correctly rounded) in December to +46 (63% much trust, 17% little trust) in March.

Good among women, Moderate among men Vice-Pres. Robredo's net trust rating stayed good among women, although down by 14 points from +47 (63% much trust, % little trust) in December to +33 (56% much trust, 23% little trust) in March [Chart 6]. However, it fell by one grade from good to moderate among men, down by points from +42 (% much trust, % little trust) in December to +26 (53% much trust, 27% little trust) in March. Good among 18 to 54 year olds, Moderate among 55 and older Net trust in Vice-Pres. Robredo stayed good among year olds, up by 4 points from +34 (56% much trust, 22% little trust) in December to +38 (60% much trust, 22% little trust) in March 17 [Chart 7]. It also stayed good among year olds, although down by 6 points from +44 (63% much trust, % little trust) in December to +38 (60% much trust, 21% little trust, correctly rounded) in March. However, it fell by one grade from very good to good among 25-34, down by 18 points from +53 (67% much trust, 14% little trust) in December to +35 (59% much trust, 24% little trust) in March. It also fell by one grade from very good to good among year olds, down by points from +52 (67% much trust, % little trust, correctly rounded) in December to +32 (55% much trust, 23% little trust) in March. It fell by one grade from good to moderate among 55 and above, down by 23 points from +37 (57% much trust, % little trust) in December to +14 (46% much trust, 32% little trust) in March. Good among non-elementary and elementary graduates, Moderate among high school graduates and Neutral among college graduates Vice-Pres. Robredo's net trust rating stayed good among elementary graduates, although down by 11 points from +48 (65% much trust, 17% little trust) in December to +37 (60% much trust, 22% little trust, correctly rounded) in March 17 [Chart 8]. However, it fell by one grade from very good to good among non-elementary graduates, down by 12 points from + (65% much trust, % little trust, correctly rounded) in December to +38 (59% much trust, % little trust, correctly rounded) in March.

It fell by two grades from good to neutral among college graduates, down by 32 points from +39 (59% much trust, % little trust) in December to +7 (43% much trust, 36% little trust) in March. Survey Background The March 17 Social Weather Survey was conducted from March 25-28, 17 using face-toface interviews of 1,0 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide, 0 each in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao (sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao). The area estimates were weighted by Philippine Statistics Authority medium-population projections for 17 to obtain the national estimates. The SWS survey questions on the trust ratings of Vice-Presidents are non-commissioned. They are included on SWS's own initiative and released as a public service.
