It s almost Christmas and we have a very busy #me ahead, star#ng with our Melbourne cup celebra#ons. Our ladies will be wearing fascinators and our men will be decked out with panama hats. We will be having our own lakeside cup in the morning. The a6ernoon we will all watch the Melbourne cup together, enjoying drinks and nibbles. We wish you all luck in the sweeps!! We are busy ge8ng ready for Christmas. This year the residents Christmas party will be held in December ( Date to be advised). Keep your eye out for the Christmas raffle, which will commence during the last weeks of November. Remembrance service will be held on the 10th due to the weekend. We will hold the service in the ac#vi#es room. There is lots of entertainment coming up in November. We have a visit coming up from Kendall Primary School children who will be pu8ng on a performance and also the Camden Haven High School Band will be joining us in November. We appreciate the school children coming to visit as the residents always enjoy seeing them. We will also see Alan & Gwen with their Ukulele, Country music with Ivan, Name that tune with Graham and Birthday party with Roy. We are adding an extra exercise class into the program star#ng Wednesday 8 November at 10am - Strength & Balance Classes. We hope you will come along for some exercise. 2 From The Don s Desk LAKEVIEW WING It s November and the weather is heating up as the days are getting longer. Resident/Relative surveys were sent out last month with a very small portion of them being returned. We use these forms as feedback and this assists us on delivering better service to you and your family. Surveys can still be handed in at the front or directly to myself. How exciting; Christmas is just around the corner. Decorations have begun to make their way around the facility. We are all trying to make the environment as festive and memorable as possible with the assistance of staff, residents and their families. We welcome anyone with ideas or input to come see me. Reminder as Christmas approaches and new items are brought into the facility. Please ensure when new clothing/ goods enter the facility they are Clearly Marked. Remember my of2ice is open and I am approachable but please be aware at times I am busy and sometimes you may need to wait. If you cannot wait see the front of2ice immediately! Julianne 2

Remember you do not have to be religious or even spiritual to speak with the chaplain; all you have to be is human. The chaplain represents a person that is non-religious, non-discrimitory and non-judgmental! Thanks be to a higher power! Did you know our Director Of Nursing is also a Chaplain? Come along and meet other residents and relatives. Meeting Minutes are available in each edition of the newsreel. Coach Outings Outings this month will be held on 2,9,16,23 & 30 November The coach will leave at 2pm sharp. Coach outings are usually held each Thursday afternoon and are subject to change due to inclement weather. Please check dates and times with the Activities staff. Some of last Months outings included Miss Nellies Cafe, The Beach and the resident s favourite was the Dunbogan Boat Shed. We fed the 2ish and had a relaxing afternoon. At the beach we collected some driftwood and made some beautiful wreaths which you can see in the activities centre. Construction Update The main roof should be complete; weather permi8ng, early November. Once this is complete, Work will commence on the verandas. Services will then be installed ( Fire sprinkler systems, electricals, air condi#oning etc. A6er this #me the internal plaster board shee#ng can begin. 4

5 Laurieton Lakeside Aged Care Residence - November 2017 Gardening News With the warmer weather and the rain we have recently had, the lawns and hedges have started to flourish. Michael our gardener has begun replan#ng the herbs in the garden beds outside of ac#vi#es. He has planted Coriander, Thyme, Sage, Parsley, Rosemary, Thai Mint, Basil, Tomatoes and chives. Residents and staff will be looking a6er this space. Hopefully they will be ready soon to add flavour to our meals. Around the grounds, the garden beds have been topped up with tree mulch and Bark and are ready for the hot weather. Recipe Of The Month Choc-crackle peanut bu er cups 5 Method

Remember; Exercise is good for the body & Soul. SUDOKU Traditional Sudoku is a 9x9 puzzle grid made up of nine 3x3 regions. Each region, row, and column contains nine cells each. See the example below. The numbers shown in the example are the "givens". These numbers can not be changed in any puzzle. You solve the puzzle by filling in the empty cells with a single number (from all the possible candidates) that doesn't violate Sudoku rules. There is only one correct number per cell. Scan the "givens" looking for the same number in different rows, columns, or regions. Eliminate cells for consideration by applying the Sudoku rules using these numbers. Complete the Sudoku puzzle so that each and every row, column, and region contains the numbers one through nine only once.
