NEWS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MARCH 2018 March was a wonderful month at Bumble Bee. This month we learned the different uses for wool on our field trip to PraLes and we had a fun filled Easter party complete with an egg hunt. Spring is finally here so get ready for those spring showers.
News from Yellow Class Natali The month of March was a very busy month for the children from Yellow class. We had a lot of exciting things going on in our classroom. The weather is getting warmer and everything is starting to turn green which means spring is almost here. We talked about spring weather, changes in nature and activities we can do outside. We have read many books that based on the topic Nature is Awakening. But our favorite ones were Is it a Butterfly? and The Very Hungry Caterpillar where we learned about the life cycle of butterflies. While making crafts we used different techniques such as drawing, painting, modelling or cutting out. We sang spring themed songs : Pretty Butterflies, You are My Sunshine and the song The Farmer Plants the Seeds helped us understand what a little seed needs for its growth. Spring is all about planting and we also planted the seeds to see the life cycle of a plant in action. With an egg hunt, games and cakes our Easter Fun Day went wonderfully. We decorated Easter eggs, made very cute Easter chicks and bunnies. I think we all had a great time celebrating Easter. We have been feeding our brain with so much knowledge about spring and nature and I need to say that our abilities are growing each days. We have really enjoyed this month. We are looking forward to April and we will continue to be very busy with learning. Natali
News From Yellow Class Oli Last month was all about welcoming the new season. Spring and Easter themes were connected to our projects, songs, activities and books we read. We learned about the main signs of Spring, talked about how the seeds grow and planted some in the flowerpots. We worked on our cutting skills, enjoyed painting and finger painting techniques. We made a cute little Easter bunny as decoration, a cloud with many raindrops and pretty yellow flowers. There were also few events that I shouldn t forget to mention. We had two birthday celebrationswe wish Yiran and Viki all the best! We started to go horse riding and organized an Easter egg hunt. The Yellow class children have made a big improvement in understanding and using English words. They enjoy playing together indoors or outdoors and try to get along. I am looking forward to the next month and all the new adventures. Oli
News from Red Class The most frequent question last month was: Is it spring or winter?. It was hard to say with the snow falling one minute and the sun shining a minute later. We looked for the first spring flowers and built snowmen at the same time. We decided for Spring in our class. We sang songs Spring is Here, Hello Mr. Sun and You are my Sunshine. We tried to change the rainy weather saying a rhyme Rain Rain Go away but we didn't care really. On the contrary, we decorated beautiful paper umbrellas and enjoyed counting paper raindrops in our maths lessons. Most of the time we were getting ready for Easter. We decorated Easter eggs with pieces of fabric and buttons. In the flower pots we planted spring seedlings, carefully watering them and watching them grow. Of course, there was also the coloring and decorating of Easter eggs. For each project, we also sang spring songs with dancing to create the Easter atmosphere. We welcomed the Spring Festival with the song "Here Comes Easter Bunny" and read various stories about the Easter Bunny, such as "Baby Bunny's Day" or Hopper's Easter Surprise. The bunny was hiding little surprises for us at the end. Have a nice Spring days, Petra
News from Blue Class Blue class has been very busy this month. At the beginning of the month we had a trip to PraLes. There the children learned how we use wool and how it is produced. The teachers explained how they first shave the sheep, then clean the wool and finally die it the color that is desired. The children really enjoyed feeding the sheep and playing with all the different wool products. At the end of the month we had our Easter celebration. The children had a wonderful time hunting for the hidden eggs inside and outside. The craft we made of a decorated egg was very fun. The children were very creative with the glitter and paint. Our main focus in the classroom was the Spring season. We discussed the life cycle of plants and the names of the plant parts. We planted grass and observed it was it grew. We also learned a new song "what do plants need". We discussed the life cycle of birds and how they grow. The children really enjoyed making our baby birds in a nest craft. In addition to our spring topic we have been working really hard on expanding our knowledge of numbers and letters. Spring is finally here and we are excited for the warm weather. Holly
News from Green Class March has been a busy month in green class. We have done a lot of work on nature and our environment. We have learned about the water cycle and recycling as well as studying the structure of the Earth and how mountains are formed. To celebrate the coming of Spring and Easter we planted our own grass seeds and made Easter cards. The Easter Bunny also visited our school and hid chocolate eggs all over the garden. To help with our ecology education we have also been making models. We made a dragonfly a bumblebee a cross-section of the earth and a model to represent the exchange of CO2 and oxygen between humans and trees. We also had two trips this month. We went back to the Nature Education Centre where we learned about sheep, wool and what we can make with it. We also went to the Agricultural Museum where we were treated to a very well structured program about Easter customs. This month we also finished off the Junior Achievement program. Children did very well and received their diplomas. David
