ALTHOUGH IT S PRETTY BE PREPARED!
ESSENTIALS Down-filled jacket is the warmest Look for waterproof or water resistant Hoods and longer length Good idea to buy slightly larger size so you can layer underneath Prepare to spend around $100 Don t forget waterproof, winter shoes! Look for a good grip on the bottom and try them on with thick socks! Hats, gloves, and scarves are great too
ACTIVE Layer up Reflective clothing Wear gloves, hat, ear warmers, and good sneakers Be careful where you step!
STYLISH Wool coat is nice, but not always the warmest Tall leather boots are stylish, but check the soles to make sure they have good grip! Some gloves have touch-screen capabilities easier to type and use your phone! Layer your clothes flannel, long johns, etc. Always ask the stores if they have student discounts. A great place to go is Nordstrom Rack.

Listen to weather forecasts! Bring pets indoors! Expect higher electricity or gas bills. Make sure your car is ready for winter Check antifreeze level, have a small shovel, ice scraper, replace worn tires, keep gas full. Watch for signs no parking during
WAYS TO PREPARE ON THE OUTSIDE Dress warmly! Avoid walking on ice or getting wet. Avoid frostbite. If it s windy cover your face! Plan ahead and extra time in your travels because public transit may be slow. Avoid traveling on icecovered roads, overpasses and bridges. Avoid riding a bike.
