3 Protetive throughem photoeletri sensors Sfety noties Before using the sfety sensor, risk evlution must e performed ording to vlid stndrds. For mounting, opertion nd tests, this doument s well s ll pplile ntionl nd interntionl stndrds nd regultions must e oserved, printed out nd hnded to the ffeted personnel. Before working with the sfety sensor, ompletely red nd oserve the douments pplile to your tsk. In prtiulr, the following ntionl nd interntionl legl regultions pply for the ommissioning, tehnil inspetions nd work with sfety sensors: - Mhinery diretive 2006/42/EC - Use of Work Equipment Diretive 89/655/EEC supplemented y Diretive 95/63 EC - Aident-prevention regultions nd sfety rules - Other relevnt stndrds - Stndrds, e.g. ISO Symols Attention! Wrning sign This symol indites possile dngers. Plese py espeilly lose ttention to these instrutions! This symol identifies the trnsmitter. This symol identifies the reeiver. Sfety sensor re of pplition The protetive throughem photoeletri sensor is n tive optoeletroni protetive devie only in onnetion with sfetyrelevnt ontrol system, in whih the ylil testing of trnsmitter nd reeiver is rried out in ordne with EN , up to tegory 2 nd PL d in ordne with EN ISO Attention! The sfety sensor protets persons t ess points or t points of opertion of mhines nd plnts. The sfety sensor only detets persons upon entry to the dnger re; it does not detet persons who re loted within the dnger re. For this reson, strt-up/restrt interlok is mndtory. No protetive funtion without dequte sfety distne. The power supply unit used to operte the photoeletri sensor hs to e le to ompenste for hnges nd interruptions of the supply voltge. to EN Also oserve the sfety noties in the doumenttion of the onneted test devie! Additionl mesures must e tken to ensure tht the AOPD does not experiene dngerous filure due to glre from other light soures. Proper use The sfety sensor must only e used fter it hs een seleted in ordne with the respetively vlid instrutions nd relevnt stndrds, rules nd regultions regrding ouptionl sfety nd sfety t work, nd fter it hs een instlled on the mhine, onneted, ommissioned, nd heked y ompetent person. Foreseele misuse Any use other thn tht defined under the "Proper use" or whih goes eyond tht use is onsidered improper use. The user must ensure tht no optil influene on the AOPD ours through other forms of light ems, e.g. through - wireless ontrol devies on rnes, - rdition from welding sprks, - stroosopi lights. Competent personnel Prerequisites for ompetent personnel: - He hs suitle tehnil edution. - He knows the instrutions for the sfety sensor nd the mhine. - He hs een instruted y the responsile person on the mounting nd opertion of the mhine nd of the sfety sensor. Responsiility for sfety Mnufturer nd opertor must ensure tht the mhine nd implemented sfety sensor funtion properly nd tht ll ffeted persons re dequtely informed nd trined. Leuze eletroni GmH + Co. 4 The mnufturer of the mhine is responsile for: - Sfe implementtion of the sfety sensor. - Imprting ll relevnt informtion to the opertor. - Adhering to ll regultions nd diretives for the sfe ommissioning of the mhine. The opertor of the mhine is responsile for: - Instruting the operting personnel. - Mintining the sfe opertion of the mhine. - Adhering to ll regultions nd diretives for ouptionl sfety nd sfety t work. - Regulr testing y ompetent personnel. Sfety distnes Attention! The protetive throughem photoeletri sensor must e instlled with the orretly lulted sfety distne s well s suitle em distnes from potentilly dngerous motion: if n interruption of the light em ours, the dnger re my only e rehed one the mhine hs lredy ome to ded stop. Trnsmitter Defletion mirror 400 mm 900 mm Bem distnes in ordne with ISO Numer of ems Heights ove referene plne, e.g. floor [mm] Additionl distne C [mm] , , 700, , 600, 900, The sfety distne S etween photoeletri sensor nd dnger re is lulted using the following formul (ISO 13855): S = (K T) + C S: Sfety distne [mm] etween photoeletri sensor nd dnger re. K: Approh speed (onstnt = 1600 mm/s). T: Time dely [s] etween interruption of the light em nd stnd-still of the mhine. C: Sfety onstnt (dditionl distne) = 850mm or 1200mm, see tle ove. Multi-xle instlltion With multi-xle instlltion the light ems hve to run prllel to the referene plne (e.g. floor) nd must e ligned mutully prllel. For this the em diretion must e set oppositely in eh se. Otherwise the light ems ould use mutul interferene nd distur proper funtioning. Trnsmitter Distne to refleting surfes When mounting, suffiiently lrge distne from the optil xis to refleting surfes must e seleted. d 4 f e 4 d e f Distne to the refleting surfe Proteted field width Refleting surfe Trnsmitter Ojet SLSR 8/66.8-S /02

5 Protetive throughem photoeletri sensors Commissioning Alignment of the sensors Mount photoeletri sensors with orresponding fixing rkets from Leuze eletroni. Apply operting voltge to trnsmitter nd reeiver nd tivte trnsmitter vi tivtion input (see "Eletril onnetion"). Yellow LED on trnsmitter illumintes. Position reeiver until the yellow LED illumintes. LED links yellow: Light pth free, ut no performne reserve; len nd redjust photoeletri sensor, or hek operting onditions. Sfety noties for test funtion 1.To perform testing orretly the tivtion input of the SLSR 8 trnsmitter must e onneted to test monitoring unit. 2.The test durtion during ess protetion must not exeed 150ms. 3.Susequent to sensor tivtion the output swithing elements of the test monitoring unit must remin in the 'off' stte for t lest 80ms so tht the downstrem equipment n e swithed off sfely when the photoeletri sensor is used for ess protetion. 4.In order to omply with points 2 nd 3, the use of Leuze eletroni test monitoring units (MSI-TR1) is reommended. Chek The heks should ensure tht the Optoeletroni Protetive Devies hve een used. to the ntionl/interntionl regultions, in prtiulr in ordne with the mhine nd work-equipment diretive. Chek efore initil ommissioning Oserve the ntionlly nd interntionlly vlid regultions. Is the required sfety distne (protetive field of the sfety sensor to the next point of opertion) mintined? Is the sfety sensor effetive during the entire dngerous movement nd in ll djustle operting modes of the mhine? It must not e possile to lim over, lim under or irumvent the light pth. Ensure tht the sensor only detets persons upon entry to the dnger re nd does not detet whether persons re loted within the dnger re. Is strt-up/restrt interlok present? Before they egin work, hve ompetent person trin the operting personnel in their respetive tsks. Regulr testing y ompetent personnel The relile intertion of sfety sensor nd mhine must e periodilly tested in order to detet hnges to the mhine or impermissile tmpering with the sfety sensor. Hve ll tests performed y ompetent personnel. Oserve the ntionlly nd interntionlly pplile regultions nd the time periods speified therein. Dily hek of the effetiveness of the sfety sensor It is extremely importnt to exmine the effetiveness of the protetive field dily so tht it is ensured tht e.g even with djustments to e.g. prmeters, the protetive funtion is tive t ll points. Interrupt the light em etween the trnsmitter nd reeiver (test rod Ø 13mm) - in front of the trnsmitter. - in the middle etween the trnsmitter nd reeiver. - in front of nd ehind the defletion mirror. It must not e possile to initite the dngerous stte during em interruption. Disposl For disposl oserve the pplile ntionl regultions regrding eletroni omponents. Leuze eletroni GmH + Co.
