They came together over the course of the year after many, many games and tournaments. They had to overcome many challenges, new game play, and they did so with grace. It should be a great group for the future. B. Melnyk The junior girls basketball season has come to an exciting end. Last night we competed in the league final against #1 ranked, George Elliot Secondary School, and came out on top, winning in an intense battle for the championship. (Story contd. Pg.2 ) Science Fair Feb 13th Mass (Ash Wednesday) Feb 14th Grad Fashion Show Feb 16th M U S T A N G S T H E A T R E The circus came to Immaculata and has now moved on to another town. Thank you to all who came to see our Mustangs Theatre Company production of Elephant s Graveyard. It was a great show with some great performances, and, most importantly some great audiences. We would like to thank everyone for giving up their hard earned dollars for an evening of live entertainment. And thanks to our fantastic cast and crew: Noah Frederick, Isaac Hopegood, Mayua Mori, Frida Morales Mora, Sarah Nemeth, Savanna Taylor, Ashley Wynn, Raiden Freire, Reece Watt, Haythan Zhang, and Joey Sturgeon. (Story contd. Pg 4)
2 Page 2 C I T Y C H A M P S C O N T D. As Mr. Melnyk, our teacher sponsor and cheering squad front man, wrote, this unstoppable upwardly mobile team has come from very humble beginnings back in November. The girls' improvement individually and as a team has been outstanding, especially in the last few weeks. The Junior Lady Mustangs were ranked #3 after regular season play one week ago. They were defeated handily twice by GESS earlier in the season. But last night, in the final, our full court press and ruthless drive to the hoop proved to be too much for our shocked opponents to handle. The girls went up 8-0 at the beginning of the game and led on the scoreboard throughout every quarter. Earlier in the week, the Mustangs beat #2 ranked Heritage Christian School to advance to the league final last night. Both of their final two games are a testament to the practice and hard work each of these ladies brought to recent practices. We couldn't be more proud of how hard they worked to achieve this goal! We look forward to what this group of young ladies will bring to the senior level in the years ahead! Congratulations Jenna, Tia, Kat, Flora, Grace, Damia, Mikaela, Kyra, Jordan, and Charlene on your underdog win last night and on a fantastic season! A huge thanks goes to Mr. Melnyk and Mr. Boreham for their support throughout the season, and to the parents, students, and staff who came out to cheer the girls on last night! Your loud and proud coaches, Junior girls Basketball win City Championships, Thursday night Mrs. Drebit and Mrs. Cocar A B S E N T O R T A R D Y Please CALL the office and leave a recorded message for Mrs. Despins if your child will be absent or late. It is very important that every student is accounted for when marked away and Mrs. Despins will be calling if she has not heard from you. She needs to know where your student is for safety reasons. Congratulations to Georgia Griffin, grade 8. For winning the Knights of Columbus Free Throw in her age category.
