2 V O L U M E 5, I S S U E 2 8 R U G B Y S E V E N S For the final round of league play the Mighty Mustangs ventured out beyond the city limits to the wilds of West Kelowna and entered the den of the Boucherie Bears. With McFee once again leading the charge the Mighty Mustangs ran into our near neighbours the Knights of KCS. Despite valiant efforts on the wing from Caranguian to break the defense of the Knights and Waller looking to distribute the ball quickly through the middle the Knights were in no mood for pleasantries. The Knights used their overwhelming size advantage to dominate and ferociously stamp their authority on the game. Next up were our hosts the Bears of Boucherie. Despite losing West early to a knee injury the Mustangs found strength in depth and held their position mid-field against the Bears. Roamer made good ground and Griffin stood firm and always looked about to break free. With Schryburt once again winning good ball in the lineout and the scrum the Mustangs showed much promise. After a number of penetrating runs on the wing from Kurkjain the ball found its way to Saggiante. With a hop skip and a jump followed by a series of matador twists and turns Saggiante was free. Dashing down the field to touch down. There it was the all elusive TRY! With the try Saggiante and the Mustangs got the much needed lift they needed to face the Aberdeen Hall Gryphons. With the heat and two brutal games taking their toll it was left to ever presents, Nieves, Zhang, and McFee to take the mustangs through their final game. With fearsome tackling and penetrating fearless running through the heart of the Gryphons Neives looked hungry for a try. With a break down the wing he looked to be on his way to the line. However, the flag was up and Neives was called back for a foot in touch. Zhang tried tirelessly to beat the Gryphons with the kick over the top and a chase but lacked the support needed to make the play work. Champion of the Mustang s cause all season McFee was determined to give his all with excellent distribution, fine defense and monumental offensive drives. But The Gryphons did not falter and flew away victorious. Reflecting on a hard fought season the Mighty Mustangs have made immense improvements in such a short time. With a young squad and a returning coach there is lots of hope for next season for the Green and Golds. Well Done to Andrew McFee in Grade 10. Andrew made the U16 Provincial team and will train in town for the next few weeks before going to a competition in Vancouver the weekend of the 1 st of July. Go Mighty Mustangs! 3 V O L U M E 5, I S S U E 2 8 M U S T A N G S T H E A T R E C O M P A N Y A few weeks ago, students in our Theatre Production 10/11/12 class worked with two teachers from School District 23 who specialize in classes for deaf and hard of hearing students and sign language classes. Students were given an opportunity to try to see the world and deaf culture through the eyes of a deaf person. We also learned how deaf and blind people communicate with their own kind of sign language. This was all in preparation for our production of The Miracle Worker next week. See the poster at the back of this newsletter for details and reserve your seats for a show by calling the office or go online at showtix4u.com S O C C E R F U N D R A I S E R Dear Business Owner, From June 1st to 3rd Immaculata High School will play host to 16 of the top high school soccer teams in BC and we are looking for sponsors to fill the tournament program!
