3 V O L U M E 5, I S S U E 1 4 C O U N S E L L O R S C O R N E R Wow it is already January and Midterms and Finals are about to begin. The Immaculata teaching staff would like to congratulate all our outstanding grads each year. With that in mind would like say well done to the 2016 Grads who received Scholarships upon graduating in June 2016: Melissa Barriault Shea Faigan James Frederick Nina Gaspari Amanda Grant Katelyn Kohlen Stephanie McCann Nicolas Mercuri Grace Miller Morgan Painchaud Ashley Prehofer Giovanni Sambrielaz Katelyn Spiess Daniel Wallis Yes you have read correctly there are 15 Provincial Scholarship winners. All I can say is Wow! Grade 12 Parents: Your young charges need to complete a few important items to graduate. 30 hours of community service (more on this in a moment). 15 hours of Job Shadow (7.5 from a part-time job, other hours from PSI s the school puts on) 20 hours of PAL (Physical activity each quarter). PSI- What? It stands for Post-Secondary Institutes. These hours are earned when your son or daughter attends a presentation by a university, college, or some other post-secondary institution. This is not to be confused with signing up for their PSI on the SSW site. This sign-up is done so that the grads final transcript goes to the post-secondary they have selected to attend this coming September. Are you confused? If you answered, yes to this please contact me at the school and I will happily answer all your questions and concerns you may have. Please, please parents if you have questions at all at any grade level please stop in to talk, call me at the school, or me. I am always more than happy to answer any inquires you may have. Thanks and see you around the next corner. Mr. Brian Drosdovech / Counsellor Immaculata Regional High School bdrosdovech@cisnd.ca
