3 INTRODUCTIOM This appendix cntains statistical breakdwns f the varius answer categries t the questins used in Reprt N. C-12, Series N. 5, "East Zne Plitical Opinin (in relatin t USIS expsure)". The fllwing material, which was mitted frm the riginal reprt in rder t keep it sizeable and easy t handle, will furnish especially interested readers with valuable infrmatin abut attitudes and reactins f the varius segments f the East Zne attending the 1957 INTERBAU Expsitin. The data are based n three samples f 799, 801 and 799 cases each. As with all samples f East Germans, nly tw quta cntrls are pssible: Land f residence and sex. Interviewing cmmenced n July 6, the day the INTERBAU Expsitin pened - and cncluded n September 14, 1957«Althugh the Expsitin lasted until the end f the mnth, this cut-ff date was adpted in rder nt t cause any cnfusin r* verlap with interviewing cnducted in cnnectin with the Berlin Industrial Fair, which pened n September 14 and ran cncurrently with the remainder f the INTERBAU.
