Read the passage and answer the questions given below: Trade goods moved along the Silk Road routes, but so did ideas, information, and religion. One early traveler along the Silk Road was Zhang Qian. Qian was sent by the Chinese emperor to form partnerships with different people to the west. The emperor hoped to obtain horses and other trade items. Along the way, Qian was captured and put in prison. He escaped after 10 years. Qian returned with valuable information and horses. Many people believed that his horses were special. This because the horses appeared to sweat blood. The truth is that parasites were living under the skin of the horses. (A parasite is a living organism that lives on or in another organism and depends on it for its food.) The blood came from the sores (wounds) caused by the parasites. 1. Who was Qian? Where was he for 10 years? 2. How did the trade route help people? 3. Do you think Qian s horses were special? Yes/No? Why? Language Comprehension HW 015 (To be done in notebook.) Translate the following passage into Hindi/Telugu in your notebook. My name is Divya. I am twelve years old. I have two brothers and a baby sister.
