3 Districtwide Student Generation Student Generation rates for new development 3-year average of calculated generation rates, based on an annual survey of development projects Example: for every ten new single-family detached units, the District can expect to see one new high school student Districtwide Average ES MS HS Total Single Family Detached Units Single Family Attached Units Multi Family Units new single-family detached units Example: students in new development (all grades) = 1 new high school student

5 Future Development The projection includes known residential development projects approved and underway: Projects with 10+ dwelling units Estimated # of units and when they will be completed and occupied Most large projects are located in the south & northern areas of the district Example: students in new development (all grades)
6 North Bethany Area: Known residential projects Multiple project, ~2,000 units (of various types) Most are actively building now, with some occupied, many available units in the next 1-2 years These are accounted for in the student projection
7 South Cooper Mountain: known residential projects Three large projects with ~1,200 units 1. South Cooper Mountain Heights (Beaverton) 2. 10 Question: What is a Grid code? Long-standing geography for building attendance boundaries ~1,200 such geographies in the Beaverton School District, average is 35 acres in size Usually ~100 students per grid code Are usually defined by arterials, natural features, etc. They are changed only occasionally, such as to account for new development 1989 Grid Code Map Today s Grid Code Map

12 Committee Deliberations: Major Steps 1. Each high school group discusses top areas of concern & explores new boundary ideas 2. Confer with other affected schools & evaluate results (may or may not result in a proposal) 3. If a proposal is ready for discussion with the full committee, Dick will moderate 2. If there is agreement the proposal will be hatched onto the Springboard map
13 Robert will be available for each group to test new boundary options with the GIS software
14 Committee Deliberations The committee is only testing ideas, discussing the implications, and all together- agreeing to put proposed changes on the Springboard Proposal on the map Proposals will be shown as hatch marks or shading - so the evolution of the map is visible Please keep in mind, proposals that are agreed to tonight may be altered at a later meeting as the committee s work progresses
