1 Long term Co-operative Credit SeCtor Structure :- West Bengal State Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ltd. The West Bengal State Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ltd. (WBSCARDB) is the Apex institution of the two-tier Long Term Co-operative Credit Structure (LTCCS). This organization is playing a pivotal role in delivery of Long Term Agricultural Loan and other Farm and Farm Allied credit as well as Non-Agricultural credit to the Rural people of this State with the help of its two branches and 24 PCARDBs at the lower tier. 6 Administrative Report & Success story of HOUSE DAIRY PROJECTS at village Adampur, P.O. Jyotsriram, Raina II, Block, Burdwan under finance from the Burdwan CARDB This village of Adampur is a remotely located one, about 10 km from the Gram Panchayat Office with no hospital or any financing institution barring a small SKUS within its vicinity. This small SKUS, though commands a 100% recovery of the STCCS loan being unable to cater to the growing need of the small and marginal farmers, the later used to fall prey to the local mahajans and other micro financing agencies charging exorbitant rate of interest. During a collection camp in this village, the plight of these hapless people came to the notice of the BCARDB officials they also observed that there was already an ongoing project in collaboration with the AMUL but it was not yielding any profit to the subscribers. Officials of the BCARDB decided to stand by the side of the cattle growers and investment was initiated on the project of cattle breeding and production through four JLGs, the number of which now stood at eight. In the year 2010, Adampur Bishalaxmi Mata Farmers Club was organised. Through them, BCARDB began to invest in Small Dairy Projects. Cows were insured. Production of milk increased, profit was made and through repayment of loan, villagers showed more interest in accepting more loans. 47

7 Administrative Report & At present, there are twenty six loanees with a loan amount of Rs. 22,41, Investment in the eight JLGs with their thirty two members is of Rs. 9,40, Repayment percentage is 100%. The BCARDB are proud of the Adampur villagers and have been organising several training programmes in skill development that are facilitating production of several milk products viz. Ghee, chana, paneer etc. 48
