2 The project credit was signed on September 20, 2017 and became effective on December 29, A first full supervision mission was conducted from November 13-24, 2017 to formally launch the project (FV2). Visits were made to all the project areas in Ferghana, Andijan, and Namangan Districts and discussions were held with the regional PIUs. Selected proposed works were also visited in each (e.g. sites for rehabilitation of pump stations, canal improvements, new wells, etc.). The mission also met with the local Hokims and the level of expectation to initiate works and activities is high. The EU grant (15 million EUR) for the project is to be signed between the EU and the Government in the coming days. In the coming months, the priority is to launch the main consultancy assignments and the first works contracts.
